An easy way to realize how much it will help: consider the area of the solar absorber and compare it to the area of the pool. Now pretend you are adding extra sunlight area to the bigger area of the pool. A small sized-absorber won't add much heat to a large area pool. Yes the temperature of the undiluted, heated, water might be high, but the amount of that temperatured water is what counts (ie heat).

The biggest issue with the solar heater is that the temperature of the sun is not optimal transferred to the water in the hose, if you would replace the hose with some metal piping, like copper or aluminum, the heat is better transferred. Second thing you could do is use a black cover for the pool when not used to get more heat from the sun in the water.

The water will heat up faster. Tilting the panel from 45 to 50° will help to better capture the sun's rays. Otherwise great video 🙂 (sorry for my Bad english lol)
Hi Nicole I was wondering if your pool has a lid ? with a lid when the pool is not in use the kids can play soccer or volleyball over it ..I.e convertible pool .Just a thought ..!
This could have been made easier with a trip to a collision shop and got a broken radiator that has better thermal transfer and use the bilge pump you bought to circulate it.
From what I've learned about solar heating a pool, it's always best to heat a lot of water a little, rather than heat a little water a lot. I ran a Y off my pool pumps return to my solar "system". It's still a work in progress...living in Wisconsin doesn't help.
Same here; Amsterdam is not exactly mediterranean.. We have decided to invest in a small inverter heat pump this summer. We already have solar panels on our roof, so in a way it will still be a sort of solar system 😉. Hopefully with better result!
what if u paint your pool with black paint? i build 1 with 25 meter, its get very hot for short period of time, but after that just luke warm water T_T
We needed a T split for that, which we currently do not have. But we will try a heat pump this summer, so we need one. But no use for the sun heater then anymore!
You should better use a black hose made of thin material rather then a rubber hose. Rubber is a good insulator. Or you buy a cheap solar pool heater with a larger surface made of thin plastic. The color is crucial for adsorbing light as heat. The pool will reflect most of the light unless you paint it black.
counter intuitively running water faster (up to a point) through the house will yield more thermal energy into the pool. it wont be as hot at the end but the will move more energy into the pool .
stormcup That would be counterproductive. You actually want the water to flow quickly. Hot water picks up less heat from the collector. You need the cool pool water to keep moving through, keeping the difference in temperature between the air inside the panel and the water in the tube as big as possible- heat moves faster when there is a bigger temperature differential. Although the water going back to the pool will not be as hot, there will be much more of it, and overall it will contain more heat energy.
The power you are using to pump the water is more than the power you are getting from the sun to heat the water. The pump you are using is making the water flow too fast and is not getting time to heat up. Try a 12v car battery with a solar panel and a 12v DC pump.
Regular garden hose is too thick, instead use thin tyleen (pvc) hose so the water warms faster and put a small tap between the hose so you can regulate the water stream and let the water run slower out.
Miroslav Valsorim Finally someone who understands how thermodynamics / temperature differentials work! So many of these videos are obsessed with getting very hot water, even if that means slowing the flow to a trickle. They don't understand you're trying to keep the coil as cool as possible, so it will pick up much more heat!

1 liter in 25 seconds heats up 12 degrees Celsius, which corresponds to 8.5 kW of bo power. Great job.
2kW.
m=1kg, c=4.2kJ/kgK, dt=12K.
m x c x dt = energy gained = 50.4kJ
50.4kJ in 25 secs = 2kJ/sec = 2kW

You should better use a black hose made of thin material rather then a rubber hose. Rubber is a good insulator. Or you buy a cheap solar pool heater with a larger surface made of thin plastic. The color is crucial for adsorbing light as heat. The pool will reflect most of the light unless you paint it black.
#lekker zuinig, manueel zagen. (top video though)
:-)
Use a sump pump for more flow, otherwise great idea
More flow = less heat?
How could you do this on a miniature scale to keep a bird bath from freezing in winter?
counter intuitively running water faster (up to a point) through the house will yield more thermal energy into the pool. it wont be as hot at the end but the will move more energy into the pool .
That's the most common mistake people make.
You should turn you skills into a job. Your seriously super women 💪
:-) Thx Lily!
Nichole you are wonder women xx
It probably needs to be raised off the ground, otherwise the ground will act like a heatsink.
Hi
please get copper pipe (solar heater), has more tranfer heat.
Hats off to you ! Proud to be a female !
That is very informative...
Why not just swim in a wetsuit? That's what we do... it is great training for wetsuit legal events.
🤣 Thx for the tip!
So you have ¼ square meter of heat gathering surface and 48 square meter of heat loss surface. Good luck.
Would work thou if the water coming out is like 200 degrees celc. 😅😅
i am no expert but i would say you need 4mm irrigation pipe about 30m or so that will give you a much higher temprature..
stormcup That would be counterproductive.
@@spencerwilton5831 I recently gave it a go, it worked. ruclips.net/video/QTSmIXIFnHs/видео.html
Wonderwomen
We agree
:-) Thx Omer!
The power you are using to pump the water is more than the power you are getting from the sun to heat the water. The pump you are using is making the water flow too fast and is not getting time to heat up.
Try a 12v car battery with a solar panel and a 12v DC pump.
Maybe next summer I will try that! Thanks.
@@MichaelBoerop I look forward to the video.
Please move that powersupply further away. My hair is rising at the thought of mainspower so close to the water
True! It was only to try, we would definitely not swim...
She watches to much of Mc Guyver 😂😂😂😂🤣
Regular garden hose is too thick, instead use thin tyleen (pvc) hose so the water warms faster and put a small tap between the hose so you can regulate the water stream and let the water run slower out.
Thx Frank!
actualy you don't want slow watter rate, faster is better
@@miroslavvalsorim4100 true, and also make sure you dont use standard garden hose which is full chemicals.all classic pvc is not safe.
😊😊😊❤❤❤
