I am a 50-year-old gay man and has followed No Doubt from it’s very earliest beginnings and I have to say that Gwen Stefani has been my one and only “girl crush” from day one. I’m so thrilled that she’s found success as a solo artist and the support and love of an exceptional human being because she is one as well and deserves a complete and full life of happiness.
As do we all.....

Hey Anthony! Same here... i am 50 as well, gay and will always have a mad crush in Gwen. I use to say, if any one woman could make me straight, it would be her. She’s amazingly, uniquely beautiful and has incredible talent, with one of a kind energy! Beautiful Soul.

Especially since she just turned 50 too and looks amazing and she is so talented. I got to meet her back in 2003 and she was so wonderful! She smelled great too! Not like perfume but like fresh linen. Too bad she is not into chicks cuz I dig her!

As someone who has met Gwen and had the privilege of watching her sing live, I can confidently say there is no one nicer, more beautiful, or more talented than she is. She is so humble and kind and incredibly down to earth. I couldn’t be a prouder fan. She sounds amazing here!
So true. I've had the pleasure of doing two Vegas meet and greets. She is so sweet to her fans. And her show is just amazing.
@@zsuzsuspetals I met Gwen back in 2003 at the LAMB exhibition at Macy's in NYC. There were only 300 people cuz you had to buy a lamb bag in order to get a ticket to come back another day and meet her and take a pic with her. I'm a year older than Gwen and a singer and rocker in my own right so I was dressed in my usual rock clothes and my hair was bleached and long down to my butt. As I was waiting to see her VH1 came over and said to me "We want to interview you!" I said yeah why? and they responded with "Cuz you GOT THE LOOK!" and they asked me if I was a Gwenabee and I said "No I'm a NYC Rocker chick" and they say 'Even Better!" so they interviewed me about Gwen's fashion and I ended up on that show "Vogue Fashion Superstars" as a commentator on Gwen's fashion. It's really cool. Meeting Gwen was even better cuz it was like she recognized me from my band (A).P.P.L.(E). and I just yelled out her name and she laughed and we hugged and then I yelled her name again and we hugged and laughed again and then took the picture. Gwen was so super nice and just a regular person. She smelled good too. Like fresh linen. She had her hair like the Jean Harlow look cuz she was doing the Aviator at that time too. I wish I could post the picture here but if you look on my channel you can find the VH1 thing and me meeting Gwen cuz the Papparazzi filmed it. :)

I'm glad she prioritizes expression and creativity over following a 'conventional' singing technique. We wouldn't get the unique sound and character that she brings. I've heard some technically great singers that end up sounding clinical or bland. It's often because they don't yet know about dynamics or don't yet understand the emotions that the songwriter is trying to convey in the song.

Conventional singing is only "better" because it preserves the voice till you're older , emotional singing is okay but u gotta be careful you don't mess your voice up singing improperly

@@fluffyclouds555 I absolutely LOVE Return Of Saturn and the B Sides "Everything In Time" CD. Those sessions are the best songs No Doubt have ever done. The lyrics are just amazing. If anyone knows how to write about heart break in a real way it's Gwen. She reveals so much of her soul and her lyrics are so relateable. I love in the song "Too Late" how she talks about having a man to show off to friends "I'd put you on, like a diamond, so I can sparkle and be the envy of my friends. I'd proudly hold the leash, that I have you on, so you can't stray and (have to ) follow me around all day." Wow y'know? The songs that are on Everything In Time I think are just incredible. I love "Big Distraction" cuz it is in 2 meters, the drums are in compound meter and the vocals are in regular meter. So interesting musically. Then the lyrics for the chorus "You're My Big Distraction, Obvious companion, I'm falling fast, like an avalanche!" Again Wow. The last song I'll talk about is "Artificial Sweetener." "The Return Of Saturn, Assesing my life, second guessing! I'm full of Artificial sweetener, my heart's been deceitful, I'm faking 'I love yous' You're forcing me to!" Yeah totally about when you're in a relationship that you know isn't right but you just can't get off the fence and make the move to break up. Gwen is a real artist with vocals and lyrics and No Doubt as a band has great musicians. Adrian is one helluva drummer. Tony is just too good on bass and Tom with his metal influenced guitar playing makes for such a unique sound as a band. I love No Doubt. I wish they'd get back together!

Like you said, I have a huge appreciation for those lyrics too. You highlighted my favorites. I binged on Return of Saturn really hard especially around the time I was in college and then again turning 30. It’s so real. She captures those very relatable feelings so well. I also love Magic’s in the Makeup “Can you tell I'm faking it? But I want to be myself. A counterfeit disposition can’t be good for my health....Makeup’s all off, who am I?...the magic’s in the makeup, but I want to be the real thing” Oof. And Bathwater - it’s a pretty deep analogy loving someone so much even wanting to bathe in their old bath water despite how they’re hurting you. God, he hurt her so much over the years. I’m so glad she’s so happy nowadays. But agreed, I miss ND a lot and wonder if they’re all still good friends

I'm a pro singer and I'm also 50 years old. The human voice can sing well up till you're about 60. It all depends on the vocal cords and how damaged they become after years of singing.
