  • If you're planning to vacation in Canada, I would highly recommend putting Charlottetown, PEI on your MUST SEE list. This beautiful little city has so much to offer in terms of activities, restaurants and beautiful accommodations. But not only that, it is very safe and also very well taken care of. Summer is definitely the best season to visit Prince Edward Island in general, but it would also be very beautiful in the late Spring or early Autumn as we did. I hope this video will inspire you with some ideas of things to see and do in Charlottetown and I would love to know any other suggestions from locals in the comment section! Also want to give a very big thank you to The Great George Hotel for hosting us on a media stay, we had an incredible time staying at this beautiful historic boutique hotel and I would absolutely recommend it as a great home base to explore Charlottetown from. Alina, with the population that Canada has, it might be "impractical", but Charlottetown is about what ever Canadian city should be. Apparently, that province wants to preserve its best, not "redevelop" things and drive up costs to unaffordability.

Charlottetown's vacancy rate is dangerously low and housing costs are unattainable. There is a lot of homelessness and drug problems including fentanyl. Crime is going up too. What the tourists see is the shiny facade of the city. Charlottetown has the same problems as every other city.

I must commend you on this video. You researched your information well and articulated it beautifully--most videos on PEI are superficial and full of inaccuracies. A note on the well kept properties of PEI: some think that the only reason people take such care is because they are afraid they might end up on Compass, our local CBC production, or have their names published in our daily newspaper. My own theory is that there are thousands of men who, like myself, grew up on small farms and mow a large lawn just to justify owning a tractor. Keep up the good work!

So glad you enjoyed my beautiful province! couple things that you may want to know for your next trip here. First Cows Ice Cream is fantastic but my favourite is actually Holman's. It's a small family run business in Summerside where the ice cream is homemade. If you don't make it out to Summerside they often set up at the farmers market in Charlottetown on Saturdays. The other is that's there's actually a uber like alternative here that's locally owned and operated called Kari that's also expanding into New Brunswick so hopefully that helps with your taxi issue next time you come.

Very beautiful presentation of PEI. I was there wanted to drive the long Confederației bridge and I stayed în Charlotte town at Best Western hotel. I went to PEI also because while în Montreal I always eated oysters from PEI . Thus, I said to myself why not to go to PEI and eat fresh oysters ? But the big surprize was that in Charlotte Town there were not a lot of oysters like în Montreal. Even difficult to find. It seems that PEI is exporting almost all oysters. But PEI is indeed nice, with good roads and only a few people in large space offering a sensation of true liberty.

Second try - As I have heard from the many good things about Charlottetown and PEI and the Maritimes provinces as a whole. Since I've worked with and around many PEIers, and Maritimers as a whole I've a base level knowledge about the area. I've seen TV shows about these areas, but as you so often do, you make your video's personal and a photogenic travel vlog. I'm both envious and jealous that you got to visit this amazing looking local. On the other hand your style makes your videos more personal and intimate than most of the TV shows I've seen on the area. It has long been on my list of places to go, but money and time have always made it stay on the list. Probably another reason is that although the food scene looks amazing, I'm not a fan of water foods in general. Once or twice a year makes me happy. So a seafood paradise for most ain't for me.
Like always you showcased this city extremely well and made it even more inviting than I previously though of it.
And to Ryan - Don't have a cow man, but dressing sort like one would make you outstanding in your field in Toronto. Well Alina you at least you know what to get Ryan for Christmas.
    Another great video. Thanks.

I don’t know what other industries they have besides tourism, so for me that explains why they have a lot of restaurants and hotels for the population.
I know my sister went there a few years ago on a bike tour primarily because of Anne of Green Gables. I enjoyed the tv series Anne with an e, which was on Netflix.
I watched a YT series on Wander Women who rode bikes around PEI.
Now I have to see if there is an Alina review of Victoria, which is my local favorite city in case I missed it. I’m also partial to Vancouver, which is nice aside from super high housing prices, but as a tourist from Seattle, I don’t have to worry about

Great video! This looks like a wonderful place. I have maybe one reservation about living here, which maybe someone can answer. Some of the scenes showed a lot of 'older' people. Now I'm not against older people (I'm one myself, over 50), but I like being around younger people and diversity in age groups etc. Is the city like a retirement village, or is there a good mix of age groups?

It is an older demographic by a bit, but it's actually older tourists that you mainly see walking around from what I could tell, not locals. For locals I found there to be quite a bit of diversity.

I wouldn’t say it’s underrated. Only that it’s the smallest provincial capital but it’s known to be quite a pretty city. As a place to live it may not be the best as not much goes on in the winter and before May but actually May and June and September or October are great on the island. If you don’t care to swim on the beach the beaches are walkable in those months and there are less tourists everywhere and hotels are much more pleasant than late June to early Sep when it is more a tourist trap
