There are stickers available now, I’ve been using the R10 on course to help find the ball, eyes not as keen these days so this helps a lot. Agree completely that the unit has great potential but the software is very underdeveloped, that camera for impact vision needs to be aligned better. Great content David looking forward to seeing what you do next. Cheers
Hey David I have seen where you can get the stickers to make any ball a Rpt ball. Maybe if you get some of those you could then make your own and bring on course. There are a couple posted videos on RUclips with a link to get stickers. There about a dollar US to get. Also seen a template you can use and fill in with marker.
Have you experimented with using your phone as a second camera slightly forward of hitting position to show face impact. If that was in slow mo and you had impact vision maybe it’s what you’re looking for.
For each shot, what is the added time to setup the mlm2 pro you'd say ? For RPT balls, I'd try to draw the pattern with a sharpie on my gaming balls for on course use (no screen to stain). I could only use the mlm for on course practice, so shot setup time is crucial. Thank you again !
People have tried drawing the dots on. No luck though. Ill use the TPT balls on course when the boxes are available. But it only takes a couple minutes each time
@@davidmaxfieldgolf So trying to mimic the TPT pattern is not easy... A couple of minutes to start and pair, like first shot first hole, but then for the second shot and the following ones, still that slow ? You place the device, align it and still need more time ? As you get used to it the alignement and distance to the device gets quicker I guess.
Hey David, you're videos are funny and informative. Thanks! As a Garmin ambassador, does the R10 have a shot tracer feature like the MLM2Pro? the 2 cameras are the big win with the MLM2Pro but that + shot tracer are driving my desire for the MLM2 vs. R10. Thoughts?
DM there are already companies selling the stickers for "regular" balls to turn them into RPT balls. Apparently they cost about $1 for the stickers, but you can sharpie them if the dots start to wear. Might be an option.
It’s a good option. Just not for me though 😞 I spoke to Rapsodo and the RPT a pattern has a patent. So I wouldn’t want to produce content with using the stickers and then have legal issues around it 👍🏼
Glad I’m not producing content as I bought a jig on eBay and make every ball I use work (can’t stand Callaway, loyal Titleist player til I die). Jig and oil based paint marker FTW!
I really like these on course videos. I am a R10 owner. Can you do some more videos at the practice hole? Also do you like the RogueST driver better than the Paradigm? Thank you and keep making great videos.
Thanks Chris, the practise hole is in use at the moment but I’ll be getting the unit back on course with the rpt balls soon 😁 I like the Paradym but would be happy with either driver to be honest
Hi David, Love these videos, thank you. Question, when you did this on course video, we’re you connected through the MLM2PRO WiFi or did you have a personal WiFi, or were you using cellular data? Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Without the RPT balls you just will not get the accuracy the machine is capable of. Period. It cannot measure spin axis, so ball flight will not be accurate. To those posting complaints, this is just how the machine is designed. If used as designed, it is highly accurate. And useful. I see this as an indoor practice tool. It gives you good reliable data, indoors, that you can then bring to the course and apply real world. If you're on the range, you do not need a launch monitor to tell you direction and distance. It's all marked. If you want a machine that can perform outdoors, there are good options. For 5-6 times the price, but they are out there. As far as those aftermarket stickers, they are not perfectly flush. With a ball spinning at > 3000 RPM, the stickers will alter ball flight. Won't matter hitting into a screen 8-10 ft away but will significantly when ball flies 100-200 yds. I would not use those stickers just so I can take this on the course.
How did you get the Mlm2pro to stay connected to your iPad? Mine works with my iPhone, but the sucker just keeps disconnecting from iPad. It’s so frustrating. Also, iPhone tends to overheat very quickly when running the Mlm2pro app here in Florida. Unless I’m in a very shaded driving range area etc.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Already done that…. Still just keeps disconnecting. What I don’t understand is why it works fine with my phone but not the iPad…. I mean, what’s the difference? 🤷🏼♂️
I would guess you're right - not using RPT balls on the course threw off its accuracy for your spin axis and stuff on those initial tee shots, especially. Maybe it doesn't know the ball drew back a bit and showed it as a big block to the right (OB).
I found with mine it does not factor in wind or cold. Used a rangefinder at the range and the distances the mlm2pro were showing were way longer. How much longer did it take on the course with the mlm2pro? I thought about doing it but with practice session instead of the course.
I’ve got a final verdict video coming but I’ve been very careful to answer that question as I’ve still going through all that the MLM2PRO has to offer and want to make sure I give it the best chance possible. It’s a very good unit
Seems to me exactly what you are saying, potential to be a really good unit thats dealing with a lot of bugs. The MAJOR issue i see is that without RCT balls its ok at best. They better fix that or it will forever be a flaw that will make unit ok/avg at best. Bugs can be worked out, but locking ppl in to 1 expensive ball to have accuracy its a massive mistake. I dont play Titleist and sure wont pay $55-70 for a dozen balls just so my $700 unit will be accurate.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf ahh, this reply was supposed to be for fuzzy banana😂😂 but I suppose he can’t buy it either if he can’t afford 50 bucks for rpt balls
Hey David. So I know you were originally all for the r10 and now you have done some serious testing of the mlm2. Will you be doing a video to talk about what might be the better option for certain golfer types? I am a 14-16 hdcp and would like to dial in my club distances, learn to shape my shots and play some sim rounds when I can’t get to the course and am curious what you think might be best. Thanks!
Hey David! I know this is an on course review, but i was wondering if you had tested the unit with those rainbowy foam balls. I wouldn’t care for spin rate once the unit delivers club data. It’d be great if you could reply! 🙏
Hey 👋 Sorry I don’t have any foam balls anymore. But it wouldn’t be able to give you anything that resembles a normal ball. It would definitely read the ball but you would be able to see your normal shot averages if thats what you’re looking for
@@davidmaxfieldgolf not sure how to word it😂😂 so you play a draw pretty much religiously. if you where to aim the mlm unit on your starting line (right of target) and not directly at the pin/centre fairway (intended finish) line. it just seemed really odd that those first two drives where "OB" on the unit 🤷♂️
@@davidmaxfieldgolf just can't help but think if the unit was pointing directly where your club path was facing (out to the right) the camera would have picked up the full shot like it did indoors on the sim.
The algorithm they used to create the courses made everything 20 yards off the fairway OB, no matter if it is or isn’t. Also it does not consider wind.
For now, at least, it definitely seems like the value of the data drops off a cliff if you don't use an RPT ball. It IS a radar device, I wonder if they'll ever add support for RCT balls and refine their algorithm for balls it can't track spin / spin axis. 🤞
I don’t think you would have the ability to have it read the rpt pattern and the RCT ball. I wouldn’t say it’s fallen off a Cliff as it did track quite a lot very accurately
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Yeah, I guess that was a bit dramatic, hahaha, I just mean that the accuracy is much higher as soon as it sees the RPT dots. Good test nonetheless.
