    What gives credit to what Charlie said is the fact that a bank won’t allow you to just randomly walk in and withdraw $200,000. What he more than likely did is transfer it to another account, and withdrew just under $10,000, because any transaction over $10,000 triggers an alert to the IRS or some other federal organization.

    • @georgewiggins7271
      @georgewiggins7271 11 месяцев назад +15

      I work at a bank, what you're talking about is called a CTR (Cash Transaction Report) and by all means you *can* withdraw more than 10k, we're only required to ask what your doing with the money. You're allowed to say you don't want to answer (that would simply go on the report), however what I find unlikely is that he got that all in cash because unless his bank is in the middle of a major city, I can't imagine them having 200k on hand to give to an individual (as opposed to the many individuals it would have). Where I work, we hesitate even with 10k if you didn't call first call in advance for us to order it and we tell people we need that notice for anything over 5k (typically we'll still do that no problem, it's just for the sake of argument we request they tell us in advance).

    from someone who works at a bank, always have your own bank account. doesn't matter who it is just don't do it when I used to work customer service we would see issues similar to this pop up all the time (minus the throwing away cash all over the highway part). Family, bf/gf, business partners, friends. There really isnt anything that the family can do about it, they could try to take him to civil court but its probably not gonna lead anywhere. for me and my gf we both have joint ownership on the spending accounts where we put money in right before we're about to buy something, we keep our payroll accounts where most of our money is at separate just in case something was to ever happen between us.

Had 3 huge wads of money he was just handing out to everyone. Best day ever

    So, this guy was a regular at the bar i work at, came in all the time and would often always tip quite a lot. usually around 2k.
    He came in the day he threw out the 200k on i-5 and tipped us 10k and seemed fairly normal, nothing weird. of course we were extremely greatful, and he told us that he and his family run a charity organization and wanted to give back to the people as they've helped him a lot.
    I come in the next day and see that he threw 200k onto i-5 and my coworkers and i were shocked. but we have heard 3 different stories.
    The first coming from Colin himself, it was his money that he made in a shared family account, that he had access to, and really just felt like giving back to people.
    The second being, he stole the money from his family account, and was on things (which again, he didnt seem to be on anything when he came in, acted completely normal like always)
    and the third being stole money and threw it so that he would be out of money when the child support people came to collect on debts he owes.
    Another thing is, he also went to like 7 or so other bars in town and tipped around 3k to each. he definitely could have done a better way of giving it out, but it wasnt just to the streets, he did indeed go to many locations and tipped a lot.
