Thanks Jeff! We're glad you like our new Flex scales!
As a bit of info for everyone, the CRKT Minimalist is a very interesting knife... As we were developing our scales, we found that every blade shape has a different tang thickness. The gap in the handle will vary from blade shape to blade shape, but the lip on the inside of the handle is meant to hide the tang on the inside. The Wharncliffe has a completely different tang shape from every other model, and our handles won't fit. Nevertheless, we love the Minimalist and felt it was only appropriate to give it the full Flytanium treatment! Stay Fly!
Will they fit on the spearpoint?
@@randomnomad They will. Everything Minimalist BUT the Wharncliffe.
@@flytaniumofficial many thanks!
Well you make any aftermarket scale screws?
Seem like a great addition to the knife, it would be cool to see them in titanium, but I know that would be too expensive for a niche market.
The best tool for heating stripped/stuck screws this small: traditional soldering iron.
Worked till 10 last night now again this morning, need these vids to get me by lol
:)
Kept my minimalist stock, like you said it fits nice the way it is
the finger grooves really do feel great :) I like this one for a different reason it also feels great but by filling out the palm
Without the finger grooves, that now reminds me of something that Perrin (spyderco street beat etc) designed
Looks pretty cool! I'm not Remington neck knives or super small fixed blades bc I'd rather just use a folder but I really dig that knife with those handle scales
Remington?
@@lonetrader1 idk why it says that lol must be spell check haha. I meant to say I'm not really into neck knives..
Perhaps do a video on how you remove a striped screw?
I remember when I bought this knife cuz I saw it on your channel a long time ago.. I was expecting it to be a fair size cuz it looked much bigger in your hands than it does in mine for some reason. I was very surprised at how small the knife was when it finally came.
@Heroinsniffer4life oh no Heroine sniffer called you ignorant, you should delete your account
Much improved scales in my opinion but what do I know. My EDC is an Esee Izula in my right butt back pocket for work 50 hours plus a week. Love your knife, Zippo, and minimalist video flicks! Mahalo!
I like the white grips on the Katana.
Chapman tools is the original manufacturer of that tool set. Made in Durham, CT.
Yes they are the manufacturer listed on the website, they are a USA manufacturer. The kits were put together to be a dedicated knife maintenance set, with some basic Philips and Flat heads to also be used around the house.
@@BladeBanter
Great choice going with Chapman, they make great products I swear by.
They're a multigenerational family owned business who make high quality tools in the USA and are willing to work with people like you to put together purpose built kits and not break the bank to do it.
Looks great ! 👍
Tool kit looks great would love to see a follow up review after some use on it!
I've had the kit for 6 months or so. Good kit but the bits are softer than wiha bits. T6 are the ones that are shot now for me.
@@MrQuark71 I'll probably add some to the site, might work with Chapman to see if they would have a solution in the future. The bits are one thing that is consumable as I've broken Wiha bits too.
Chapman Is excellent quality, been the best of the best since the 1930's.
No worries on the quality.
You take that fly to the next restaurant you go to. "Excuse me waiter, there's a fly in my soup".
GAHAHAHAHAA!!
Where we’re these aftermarket handles purchased? Thanks!
These knife manufacturers really need to stop using t6 and move up to t8 it’s ridiculous already.
why? t8 sucks
@@escapetherace1943 you clearly haven’t modified or taken apart knives with t6 so I’m not even gonna entertain this ridiculous comment lol
T8 is the sweet spot for 3.5” and smaller. Should have t10 for bigger blades though. Wouldn’t have to use so much threadlock with bigger screws.
The Drop Point Black Minimalist has been my daily necker since it came out. Before CRKT started the series I carried the Izula with a 55-wrap. I'm not too keen on the looks of the new scales, but we all have prefrences, so I hope you enjoy them. Now back to sorting out this inherited Coin & Stamp Collection!
Looks good 😊
I like the micarta...
Dude I thought you were going to install these scales on the drop point when you show the "you choose which one" vid. If you look up the Spyderco Subway bowie (Fred Perrine) and you imagine the drop point minimalist with the flytanium scales I think they would be very similar if not almost the same. The difference is the Spyderco is in the $120 area while the minimalist drop point and scales would add up to around $50. Big difference in essentially close to the same knife or knife type.
Would the gap in the handle be because the katana model has a thicker blade stock?
This.
I stripped my screws on my minimalist to put the scales on so now I had to order a new one
Does flytanium make scales for the QSP neckmuk yet?
Not yet! We'll add it to our REALLLLLLLLY long list. 😅😅
Not like it really matters, but I think it's Orion like the constellation (Oh Ryan)
Jeff, that looks like a Chapman mfg ratchet kit (made in the usa) branded for the knife company. The knurled bits are what give it away
Thanks for the info I did hear its 100% made in the usa which is awesome
The scales kind make the knife have a bit of a CKC hiker vibe to it
I'd like to have a cowboy style sheath for this knife.
Would these scales fit on the spearpoint minimalist?
that I dont know since the stock is thicker I wouldnt think so
Does anyone know if Alan Folts still make the custom versions of the minimalist?
Im sure he still does I just dont see them for sale often at all..
Jade on a katana shape makes sence
Well kind of. Jade is more popular in China while Katana is more popular in Japan, it has an asian asthetic anyway.
I agree with dread mans hand but both are asian...
that gap looks like it's something thats gonna break
It won't. We tried...
Being as I’m 5’4 and wear small sized gloves the stock scales are terrible for me
I like the Flytanium scales, but prefer the Putman scales.
these flytanium scales make the katama minimalist look so perrin-esque....
Spyderco Streatbeat..... -ish?
The tool kit company I'm pretty sure is pronounced like (or eye on)
Let me know if want to sell the other grip !?
yeah sure, you know where to find me haha
Keep the original grips onthe the minimalist. It looks awkward with the other grips.
The issue is that the screws are torx plus not regular torx.
Evolution LOL.
Now, imagine the jade on a karamin
I have a SMKW exclusive CRKT Bowie with a stonewashed D2 tool steel blade and tan Micarta scales , it’s the same minimalist… except it’s not ✝️🇺🇸👆🏻🅰️
These guys think that because something is small should have smaller screws, T8 instead of T6 screws will be better always no matter if the thing is small
CRKT uses such shit hardware. Recently got a Hissatsu 2nd hand and the pocket clip hardware is so bloody soft.
Shitty hardware and shitty heat treat and mediocre to low quality steel at a inflated price sounds like crkt
Their stuff can be cumbersome and the steel a decade behind.. but CRKT always makes tough good working knives. I love my newest one a tanto M16-02SS 3” blade. Things a monster little knife and a solid frame-lock.
Well from the comment below somebody thinks the Jade slabs are HOTT!😂😂
