  • Market season is quickly approaching and one of my best sellers is an outdoor fire poker, these are done in the style of a coal rake and I offer personalize these with names or dates stamped into the shaft. Every year people come to my table and tell me they bought a fire poker a few years ago amd they would like another for a friend or relative, if you want one I post these as well and the can be purchased off my website

I made a fire poker in 1981 from 3/8” square stock, my friends were heating and splitting the end to make a 90* hook. I bent a 5” full piece ground a point on one side and welded it to the pointed end on the straight length and sanded it so it looked nice. Teacher gave me crap about going overboard on the hook, but I can walk out into my garage. Take my poker that’s almost 41 years old and smash it into a tree and it won’t bend or break. I twisted the middle section, 6” , and put a round end for a handle.

..i like the S hook on the end with the chisel cut of the rake. not to slight the twist on the handle end by no means. Well done sir...!

Great video nice clean forging. I can see why they are a top seller. Really makes me want to get an oxy-acetylene setup.
