- Join us for a holiday weekend at the beach in Melbourne Florida. We splash out on an expensive hotel so have to balance the budget trying out some local cheap mom and pop places.

It's not a cheap hotel, but you can see why from the view
This was a really enjoyable episode for us Maxine and Barry 👍.
As you know, we can't sing the praises of Melbourne Airport enough, but Melbourne itself looks great.
Love the hotel you stayed at and the beach and bars look great.
Never had crab legs and may need to give them a go, but they do look like spiders legs which puts me (Lee) off.
I love a rough local bar and you need to take us to one in May.
If we ever do a three weeks plus stay in Florida I'd definitely do two or three days in Melbourne before our flight chilling at the beach and relaxing by the bar.
Maxine is clearly a Yorkshire. lass and also like me.... you have to taste the alcohol in the cocktails or what's the point 😁.
That sunrise shot was fantastic 😍.
We would have drove straight past that local breakfast place looking at it from outside, but what a surprise when you went inside and the price was great.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
We do love your James Bond beach chairs, the little cool bag pocket is a good idea and will work well with those little frozen blue freezer blocks.
Maxine does like her crab and I can't remember the last long me I had it, it probably was in Scarborough and served in the shell, but I'm intrigued with these legs....much meat on them? Easy to eat? And do you have to use nut crackers to eat them?

Max only uses the crackers on the large pincer claws. Max says a pound of legs at a minimum to get enough meat out of them

They are quite heavy to carry but worth it.

I grew up in this area and was amazed to see how you walked A1A. Take a drive a little further south and you will find the Blueberry Muffin or go north to Sun on the Beach in Satellite Bech which used to be a great breakfast place. There are so many little places along A1A from Cocoa Beach south the Melbourne Beach. For a good Sub there is Doubles which has been around for years.

Wow! Loved the ending. We went to a launch a few years ago (on holiday from Scotland) and got to T minus 2 minutes and it was cancelled! Enjoyed the vlog. 😀
Yes that’s the risk with launches . That one had been cancelled twice before so we were lucky to see it
Great vlog - loved the launch! Sunrise made me think of doing a Coast to Coast (well that’s what we call it). Watch the sunrise on the east coast, then drive across and watch the sunset on the gulf all in the same day, stopping at interesting spots along the way. Fun times!

It was amazing
We were at Kennedy space centre on Friday, saw a rocket launch which was an unexpected surprise, was amazing, got a few more days and then back to uk.
Those rocket launches are spectacular. I'm glad you got to see one close-up
Chillin' with a Mimosa on a Sunday morning. Sounds good to me Barry. Have you tried looking to the right as you come into Melbourne on the 192? The beaches are great and there are toilet blocks and showers.
Yes, and there are free spots on the main road by the beach as well with toilet blocks and showers. It's a great area
Wow, beautiful video at the end, you timed that right; it looks a lot more impressive in the dark! I had forgotten you were on the space coast! I`m amazed at how cheap the drinks and the breakfast were; I live on the west coast of Canada and haven`t seen prices like that in years! Our restaurants were closed for a time during covid and were hit hard, consequently prices increased quite a bit. Lovely relaxing weekend for you guys though.
Prices have gone up since last year but are more reasonable than say Cocoa Beach as Melbourne is more locals than tourists

Just watched the Lodge Guys vlog, and saw that they brought you over some Crunchy Nut cereal. I was so surprised, cos when I visited, and when watching some UK vloggers when they visit Walmart, the choices in the cereal aisle is, imo, incredible! I always used to bring home a couple of boxes of Life Cinnamon. I managed to buy some boxes on-line from a UK website, that specialises in US groceries. I was so disappointed, as they must have changed the recipe/ingredients. Not nearly as cinnamony. I stumbled across a US website re. this issue, and there were many complaints from US citizens. So disappointing when companies do this. It's happening here with many grocery items I buy.😠
I guess we all like what we like, but I do get envious when I see the amount of choice compared to UK supermarkets.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed them. Probably all consumed by now!😢

Melbourne has been in the news a lot because of the high crime rate especially in downtown do think this is a significant enough problem that I should reconsider moving up that way from Palm Beach County
Really, we don't see much Melbourne news in Orlando
Melbourne is more the mainland. Beachside is small town and very little crime.

Yes, because we are used to being in small towns we walk everywhere

Yes, it always ranks high on one of the best places to live in Florida. It used to be in the top 10 but as house prices have risen due to its popularity I think it’s now in the top 20
What exactly is a Dive Bar? Did you actually get up at sunrise?
A dive bar is a rough and ready bar, slightly better than a biker bar. Yes I was was up an hour before sunrise to set the camera up
