    I think it doesn’t matter if the live-action revealed some things earlier compared to the anime/manga. The live-action does a nice job of tying the story together. Some things revealed to new watchers wouldn’t even know until later if it’s explained. Also, the story has been going on for so long that I won’t be surprised if Oda just wrote things on the fly/sudden idea that’s why it took 1000+ to know about it. So I like that the live-action is not doing the same and makes the story more connected.
    I read a lot of historical fantasy comics, it is common for historical/fantasy settings to also have futuristic/modern things like electricity. I mean anything goes right in a fantasy setting.

    Always fun to watch your videos
    - When Usopp got scared next to that taxidermy animal it looks like it belongs on the Island of Rare Animals in particular this makes me think of Cocox the hybrid of a Fox & rooster
    - During Kunia’s funeral notice that she just like another person’s had 3 sake cups
    - I noticed this if you look at Buchi’s face you can see that around his left eye is lighter this is maybe because of his mask / helmet, but this maybe a mistake with me

    I am glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was odd how Luffy, who seemingly just regain his conscious from the poison soup, knew right away who were the culprits. I wish they also kept the way Luffy restrain Kuro from the manga. But I guess that's extra budget for CGI and fight choreo plannings.

    Oda uses real-world language in the titles of his manga color spreads. For instance, in chapter 147, he used Spanish, and in chapter 226, he used French. However, I think it's worth noting that the inclusion of the word "Vivere" in "Vivere Ridere Amare" may be a reference to Vivre Cards in the One Piece world.

    • @onepieceexplained
      @onepieceexplained  Год назад +1

      Yes definitely, though my point was more so that these languages do not exist in the world of One Piece for the characters. And it could, though it all stems from the Latin root for the word meaning "to live", so not sure if it's that's really a reference more than just romance languages being romance languages

    I think they could have included Jango and the rest of the crew and still sort of have much of the same things happen. They could have had Jango posing as a ground-keeper or something, and he be kind of creepy at first (sort of like Filch in Harry potter), but then start showing how weird and silly he really is, yet he could have hypnotized Luffy to fall asleep instead, and then Usopp could have tried to get Kya to leave, taking her out the window and they try escaping, but are confronted by Jango who chases them into the garden, slicing up the bushes flowers with his disc (referencing him chasing Kya and the Usopp Pirates as they tried to get Kya to safety and Jango was slicing up the trees), but then Usopp manages to shoot Jango in the head with a slingshot pellet, but as they run away, he calls the rest of the crew who are surrounding the property, so when Usopp and Kya try going out one gate, they are scared by a few of the pirates, and then Jango could yell to them that the whole place is surrounded by the crew (or he could have said so while he chased them in the garden to say that running is futile), so Usopp and Kya are forced to escape back into the mansion and then get trapped inside. The only problem is that with the crew surrounding the property, Coby and the Marines wouldn't have been able to get in, but maybe they could have had Jango come up to Kuro to tell him the crew said Marines were coming, and asking if they should stop them, but Kuro says no, let them come to the door, he will handle them (then Usopp runs off after seeing the Marines won't arrest Kuro, and he goes to get Kya out, leading to the garden chase).

    At about the 27:30 mark in this episode, when Usopp, Kaya, and Nami are trying to turn the wheel (to open the shutters, I imagine?) it looks like Usopp is pulling down from one side while Nami is pulling down from the other. Perhaps that's why it wouldn't turn?

    • @Compucles

      Well, in this version, they needed to wait until the night after Kaya's 18th birthday anyway, so the plothole would've still been fixed even if Jango was there.

    Usopp gets freaked out by spiderwebs. I found this weird because large spiders are pretty much the only thing Usopp isn't afraid of. In the Jaya arc, he's seen playing with tarantulas like they were puppies, which freaked out everybody else.
    Spoiler alert!:
    Usopp gets a kiss from Kaya, something that never happened in the text, but longtime fans are still happy for the guy.

    FYI Frog in a well is a Chinese folklore story about a frog in a well not knowing how big the world is, not what you described

    • @onepieceexplained
      @onepieceexplained  Год назад +1

      I'm sure there is an origin to Mihawk's line, but what I described was that this was Mihawk's line to Zoro during their encounter at the Baratie...

    • @Torazuki
      @Torazuki Год назад +1

      Yes, when all we had was the official trailer, lots of people were thinking the well scene was some kind of allegory depiction of Mihawk's line "you're like a frog croaking at the bottom of a well."
      Turns out it was something else, however, Zoro having to struggle out of an actual well while he ruminates on his most defining piece of history only makes the line more poignant when Mihawk says it in the following episode.

    • @adambysice2362
      @adambysice2362 Год назад

      @@Torazuki Except in the original manga Mihawk says basically the same thing, the frog in the well is very famous in east Asian folklore. The dialogue in the LA is just lifting the line almost verbatim from the manga (which is referencing the famous folklore) because Zoro has been a big fish in a small pond up until this point in the story. Zoro's "well scene" in the LA was only something added in after the fact by the showrunners, doesn't match the theme from his Mihawk fight about him not realizing how vast the world of swordsmanship is in One Piece.

    • @Torazuki
      @Torazuki Год назад

      @@adambysice2362 Yes, the well scene did not exist in either the manga or the anime. It was added in the LA as a way of interpreting things into live action.
      I think the LA writers tried to pull from the source as much as they could. I doubt it's a coincidence that they put the well scene in before Mihawk delivered his line. Diligent writing usually works by weaving themes in throughout a story and it looks to me like they took an opportunity to add an extra weave, since they had to change so much about the pacing and setting of syrup village anyway.
      I could certainly be wrong about their writing intentions. We'd have to ask them directly to be certain. But I appreciated the connection in my own interpretation regardless. ✌
