For those who aren’t pilot’s and not quite sure what happened here. The aircraft was either a bit high on short final or flared a bit too early. Either way, the net result was the touchdown was then outside of the touchdown zone. You can see large white rectangles on the runway which depicts the touchdown zone. Many airlines stipulate you HAVE to land within this zone. If you don’t, you have to perform a go around. This resulted in a “Balked Landing” where the aircraft might still touch down but the decision to go around has already been made. Who flies this manoeuvre is up to the company but in mine, I have to fly the balked landing as the Captain. It could have been either pilot (Captain or FO) flying the approach. But, ultimately the decision to go around was made and it seems to me that this decision was made as it was determined the aircraft would touch down outside the touchdown zone.
Interesting capture! May I feature this late go around in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
Another great catch! Would you be okay with me featuring this in Weekly Dose of Aviation as well? Of course you will be credited both in the video and in the description. Cheers!
I was on that coming back from Faro. Sat over the wing (big ol' wings on that). It wouldn’t sit down and floated for a while. Pilot came on and said something like “nothing to worry about, actually fairly common and caused by the unusual weather conditions here in Manchester.” A bit of sun is unusual in Manchester I’ll give him that much.
@@and321now Why did you delete your comment about what I said about a balked landing. You wanted to correct me saying it's "Baulked", not "Balked". Well to start with it's "Balked" in my manual and in the Oxford English dictionary. Granted there might be an American Spelling. But please, don't come on here trying to correct me. I'm sure I have a lot more knowledge and experience in this field than you do. And to clarify, I never said you HAD to land and then go around for it to be considered a balked landing. My point was a balked landing is where the decision has been made to go around and you might still touch down. Whether you touch down is irrelevant. The important point is the decision to go around has been made and an aircraft may or may not touch the runway. You're an argumentative little boy.
Possibly a bit too much speed on and together with the A330s well known large wings this resulted in a floating action, im no pilot but id of thought with MANs 3048m long runway and starter strip would they be need for a go around, would landing a little late be an issue?
Think something similar happened at Manchester in the early hours of this morning. TUI Boeing 787 heard it fly over my house which is odd because they don’t normally 🤔 you can see it on flightradar BY2659

It’s called floating.
@@Avgeek1564 It is. Did I not say that could have been the cause? And explain what Pilots do when it happens?? Thank you for the pointless reply. 🙄
Im aware the wings on the A330s are pretty big more so than other widebodies so perhaps that was a factor?
Awesome footage, and what a roar from those engines 👌

Yes no problem ,a link would be appreciated.👍

Jet2 pilots at their best and only the finest 😊
It's AirTanker who operate it, get your facts right.

Great video, it must be very unusual to catch a go around in good weather conditions.
One of the Air Tanker Voyagers there! Take good care of that aircraft please Jet2!
Nice footage!👍
Great footage!!
An Easy Jet did the exact same thing last Sunday while we were at the RVP, don’t know why though, it’s an absolute great catch.
Nice catch!
Saw this just arrived for the 747 at manchester was very cool to see
Great catch thought it was only a go around from rvp
I was actually on that flight, it was told to us by the pilot that it was something to do with wind shear, but as im not a pilot, i have no idea 😆
BS, it was caused by pilots error.
@@Avgeek1564 thought that might be the case, wasnt exactly windy on sinday
Nice catch Nick

My goodness what an eventful day you had today😅!!
Great catch, is that not a go around?
Touch & go because the wheels touched the tarmac
The term is ‘Baulked landing’… a touch and go is something that is planned, during training for instance. This Baulked landing or a rejected landing
Maybe a bit too high and then floating, enough runway left but for extra caution a go around.
Where is that plane coming in from?
Was this on todays stream
Yes it was
👏🏻
It was a ‘balked landing’.
#1like
Looks like it went too far down the runway
Why did they do touch n go? Ran out of runway bc of big flare?
I assume so
Yea they floated quite a bit
Looks like they were running out of runway 👏🏼
