Of all the pianists that have emerged lately, Kate Liu seems to be the most inspired and promising, her uniqueness, her intense fusion with the music that she interprets will surely place her among the greatest of her generation, her reading of Schumann's pieces is extraordinary, she performed the same works last year in Warsaw and his versions were superlative, bravo Kate!
This is an incredibly difficult and emotionally charged program. She has experienced great pain since her appearance in the Chopin Competition, and it really comes across in this program. I hope she is ok and feels the support of her many fans.

Somehow I feel Kate Lui should be taken care of by humanity so that no earthly bad things can happen to her and that she can do her music-thing. Just like they used to do with monks and nuns in the middle ages, but with Kate Liu it really makes sense. Well, that's how I feel about her anyway.

In general, I think Kate Liu's tempos on the contemplative movements are slower than others. I like it; it along with her technique provide a meditative quality to her playing. There are a few moments where Arrau gets a similar effect in Beethoven slow movements. It draws me in in a wonderful way that is somewhat unique.
Such a blessing to listen to Kate perform. Her Chopin is more refined and intentional than it was in 2015, if that’s even possible. That Polonaise-fantasie Op. 61 is to die for. Play it at my funeral.

This is such a great artist! I’ve first listened to the recordings of her performance at the Chopin competition and was already deeply impressed by her musical intensity! Unbelievable how wonderfully she is interpreting the music! In concerts she seems to take even more freedom. I’m just fascinated by her playing!
I am a big fan of Kate Liu. but is a tempo not too slow in the performance of recent Kate? is this influence of the injury? or is it deepening of interpretation? how do you feel about it ?

Kate Liu has never been the loudest pianist on earth, but besides this I cannot hear any injury or technical limitation. The hardest parts (ruclips.net/video/HcG2yUjWG3I/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/HcG2yUjWG3I/видео.html) she plays as fast and flawless as ever. Many pianists (not K.L.) tend to accelerate the finals of Chopin pieces, when it becomes technically more easy (e.g. ruclips.net/video/HcG2yUjWG3I/видео.html). But this is not in the score and probably not Chopin's intention. This was a great recital with lot of magic and musical intimacy.
