- Listen out for the mighty pedal TROMBONE!
Only electricity is to the blower. Everything done by hand, heavy action and metal levers to change the stops, keys coupled between the pedals and the two keyboards, notice the keys going down without me touching them.
This organ is a beast. I love playing it.

That’s set to be the closing hymn for my funeral. Granted, most Texans just won’t understand, but fortunately my congregation will. The church poached our organist from his position as First Assistant Organist at Canterbury Cathedral, so they’re all acclimated to the good stuff. It’s been a huge favorite of mine for over 40 years now. Ever since it was used in the funeral scene from the movie “Chariots of Fire” in 1981 or 1982.
I was mesmerized by this hymn when I first heard it in "Chariots of Fire" (1981). Hearing this dazzling music was the best part of the film for me, in an otherwise good movie.
Used it for my Dad's funeral - Not sure id have it for mine as I wont get to hear it ;-)
Anglophile here in Canada (Grandparents all from England) Well Played!!!!🇨🇦🎶🇬🇧
I attended a private girls' school here in the States and this was the official hymn for the school. Listening to you play it brought back so many wonderful memories from over 50 years ago.
My wife and I (both retired) enjoy watching you play the organs with such feelings and emotions! You can even see your emotions expressed in your feet, as they attack the pedal board more agressively, at times. KEEP UP YOUR GOOD WORK!
I just recently found your RUclips videos and I am very much enjoying seeing and enjoying them. I have no musical talent, so I have to rely on people like yourself to enjoy the organ. If you lived next door to me, I'd be a damned pest visiting with you every day to hear you play something. (I'm just sure you'd have a home organ). Thank You so much for sharing this with us.
Majestic!
Delightful to watch your fingers and hands glide along the keyboard ever so gently…. But create such a powerful piece! Thank you 🙏
"Jerusalem" Lyrics by William Blake. Tune by Sir Hubert Parry.
----- This poem was inspired by the legend that Jesus might have travelled, with Joseph of Arimathea, to England - to Glastonbury, in Somerset. According to its most common interpretation, Blake’s poem suggests that a visit from Jesus will create heaven in England, in contrast to the ‘dark Satanic Mills’ of the Industrial Revolution. ---- (from classicfm)
------------------
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold ......
Wonderful! And your CD is lovely & majestic…. Playing while I drive around rural SW Wisconsin…. Fits with the natural wonders of our land….. thank you!
Merry Christmas! 🎄🥂🌠🙏
Beautiful piece and performance !
An excellent choice of instrument for playing this majestic patriotic hymn. BRAVOS !!!
Such joyous gusto! A glorious hymn, and I love the voicing you gave it!
Closing hymn for my aunts WI meetings 😊
Now play it again on one of England's oldest pipe organs.
I bet most Americans know it from the movie CHARIOTS OF FIRE.
Fabulous
Wow !!!
Beautiful 🙂
Love the Beast in all its mechanical glory! Carry on and Enjoy!
On the back of this piece, and with your rendering of Great is Thy faithfulness, I just subscribed to your channel.
Oh how Yummy. Thank you Ben !
This is such a quintessentially English tune; the first time I heard it was towards the closing scene of the movie "Chariots of Fire." Quite poignant.
Thank you!
Bravo, Ben!
An all time favourite of mine, thank you.
Not a bad range of stops for a two manual organ....
Do you play the hands as written or do you grab the right hand with the left like on the parallel octaves in measure 3 or do you slide the octaves ?
Where is this please? I can't find mention in the description.
It's the organ of St Martin’s Church, Salisbury
St Martin’s Church, Salisbury, Wiltshire. I’ll update the description later, thanks for asking! 😊
