Yes, yes listeners, you are not mistaken. Londonderry Air is the melody of Danny Boy. The melody is an old Irish folk song of unknown origin, fitting well with Ben's theme of music of unknown origins that have survived the test of time. Londonderry Air was given to Frederic Weatherly, the publisher of Danny Boy, by his Irish born sister-in-law (Frederic himself was an Englishman). He had written the lyrics of Danny Boy earlier to another tune but realized that Londonderry Air was more suitable to the wistful longing of the lyrics of Danny Boy and had it published in 1913 to the change. Whether you mourn the loss of a son gone to war or lost through illness, or through the loss of boyhood innocence through the ravages of time, you cannot forget Londonderry Air for whatever current version fills the needs of your heart. Thank you Ben.

Ben, so peaceful having the harmonium played in this church. Are you familiar with the charity that saves organs from being dismantled and thrown in the garbage? The Pethericks, who have a channel from France, saved an organ, and I wondered whether you'd be able to connect with them regarding the latest organ they saved from destruction. I think you'd enjoy seeing the vlogs they did regarding dismantling an organ in the UK, transporting it to France, and reassembling it in the convent they're currently renovating. I'd love to see you play that one!!

We have one in our parlor, and my cousin is giving us my Grandmother Smith's reed organ that sat in her front bedroom from 1952 until 1967 when she passed away, Aunt Helen had it until she moved to a smaller house. Cousin Carol has it now, but will be down sizing soon, so my wife and I will accept it and when we move on, we'll give it away to another family member. Singing Christmas carols while gathered round a reed organ is an absolutely wonderful memory to be cherished. Aunt Helen could really make that Estey rock!! Keep up the good work, Ben! We appreciate your videos!!!

How come the way to this church is an overgrown track? Is there a town nearby?

When will you be visiting the Hertfordshire area? one place worth visiting is Breachwood Green Baptist Church which has a single manual & pedal organ of 7 stops built by Norman Hall of Cambridge. This is one of Englands forgotten organs which has been silent for at least 3 years & on Tuesday 17th September i myself brought it back to life & amazingly after such a long silence it was perfectly in tune & clearly this is still being maintained & apparently Norman Hall of Cambridge still tune & maintain it to this day. this historic occasion is on my youtube channel "SMITHYSVILLE" (which you should subscribe to) as i aim to follow in your footsteps as this is my first church video. Ben you are not alone as there are other channels doing the same as you do like "Organic Visitations" & do you subscribe to any of these?

Yes please Ben, your skill, plus a beautifully sounding organ would make for a wonderful recital. I once played woodwind instruments as a musician in HM army but age hasn't been helpful to my poor old fingers so listening to an accomplished musician gives me much pleasure. Thank you.

As a result of hearing your rendition of this most fantastic piece, I searched out and listened to other interpretations. None match your feeling nor beauty. I am so taken with your stripped down version that I have returned to it countless times. Your phrasing, your timing outshines any other interpretation I have ever heard. When you mentioned this was George Herbert's church, I just gasped. He, and John Donne, were the most memorable of the Metaphysical poets I studied at Melbourne University English in 1956. I have the volume of Herbert's works on my shelves still. Let All The World....is one of my favourite hymns. More than ever, we need...The Church with psalms must shout. You, Ben, in your videos show a contemplative and - dare I? - a metaphysical presence in the depth and clarity of your thoughts. I am from Australia, our pipe organ in our church is hardly ever played, mainly because we do not have trained organists, but our younger folks do not like Organ music, preferring electronic music.

Love your content. This site is, I believe, part of the caravan and motorhome network(or it was). Like me you are a solo traveller. You may consider joining the camping and caravanning club which has fewer, but similar sites. With a hookup I pay £15 to £18 per night. (£52 per year digital subscription). It's not that one is better than the other it's their pricing structure that gives the difference. I've been in both for 50 some years, on and off. Thank you again for the best content in the whole system. Each club also has 5 van locations but with a hook-up they cost often what you paid, since you are charged as a family unit. Decades ago we caravanned with my wife, me, three children, two dogs a cat and a budgie. Take care. Noel F.
