8 year later and your video is still helping. They have discontinued these on my Shimano Saros 3000fa so you saved my entire reel. Not sure how you figured it out but cheers to those who are smarter than the rest of us, and take time to make a video!!
I was much worried about my Sienna 4000FD fishing reel, Anti-Reverse system was not working at all, but your very detailed and specific workshop helped me to find out the exact problem. The sleeve inside the clutch was upside down. Your cooperation in this regard is highly appreciated.
I dropped my Stradic Ci4 reel into the creek. It wasn't as smooth as usual, so I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it up. When I put it back together the anit-reverse didn't work. I followed your instructions step by step and now it's good as new. Thank you very much.
Thank you! My surf rod got knocked over and my Shimano Baitrunner 12000D reel got injected with half the sand on the beach. Took it apart, cleaned all the sand out, re-greased it, and the anti-reverse wouldn't work. Found this video and it's back like new. Thank you so much!
Hey, thanks for the hands on demo on doing this! Saved me $25 because I was a minute away from buying a whole new assembly because the breakdown only showed the whole part. Once I pulled it apart, springs went everywhere and I almost panicked. You walked me through it and saved my A$$! Thanks for taking the time to help us out.
Just got a shimano biomaster reel from my friend and immedietly clean it up..after cleaning and greasing some parts, i wonder why the anti reverse not working..so i search videos and luckily i saw your great, informative, helpful video..thanks for sharing sir...well done
Great job on making this video. I was doing some maintenance on a Biomaster 6000PG and couldn't figure out why the clutch roller wasn't working properly. I forget to load the springs with the slight twist. Thanks JT
Wow and thank you. I have had a "replacement" on back order now for weeks. I am going to follow your rebuild, which is easy to understand. Hopefully I can get my reel fishing again and cancel the replacement. Thank you for posting - Dennis
Thank you so so so much Jersey! You saved my reel. I was struggle putting my reel's parts together, and un-assemble it so many times and did not solve the anti reverse issue. After watching your video, I was successfully fix it in 5 minutes.
Thanks soo much for this video! Took pictures while I was taking it apart but found out later they were blurred! Found out I put the springs in wrong. By the way , as a dog owner, I recognize the whining and scratching in the background as a dog trying to get in.....
While watching your very helpful video, my mother and I both agree that you missed your calling as a golf announcer. Thanks for the video, back in action
Great video, many thanks, it can't be stressed enough that if suddenly after servicing your ant-reverse 'just stopped working' to check you have that tapered spacing collar the right way up as you point out at the end ! That alone can save you having to dis-assemble the whole anti-reverse mechanism as it will make the anti-reverse only work when the reel is pointing down! if at all ! Keep up the good work Tom !
Thank you so much, i was Following your instructions but didn't pay atention to the little twist at moment to put the top lid of the clutch...had to see your video again, did the little twist to the cap of the clutch and voila !! 👌👌👍👍
Probably the most useful and detailed maintenance video I've seen on youtube! Thank you! Literally cannot find this info. elsewhere let alone in such well framed and captured video. Make more videos!
Thanks so much for putting the time into this video. It demystified the rebuild on the anti-reverse clutches on my Shimano spinning reels. The question I have is how in the world did you figure out the first one? You must be a clever mechanic.
Thanks greatly for this video. It saved me sending my Twinpower 8000PG back to Japan for a service. I'd made the mistake of loosening the two screws holding the whole anti-reverse block together and the springs had popped out of the right alignment when I put them back in.
Thanks so much for the video! I took apart my first reel yesterday and i've put the spring in wrong so the antireverse doesn't work! Really appreciate your video as it shows where i've gone wrong and what to do! Just bought a Sahara too but the one i've taken apart is a cheapy Silstar reel. Thanks again!
I was trying to reassemble this on my Sienna, went through several different ways of, assembling it, and eventually found this video. Turns out, I had it right one of the times, but my way of testing if the anti-reverse was activating or not was flawed. I thought you could test if it was activating by turning the pinion manually, but apparently you have to actually have the rotor and handle on to check (for the Sienna at least). Thank you for helping me make sure I got it right though, this would’ve been great for me to see before I spent over half an hour trying out all the other configurations. 😂
Thanks for this. After reassembling my Saragosa, the reel was going in reverse despite it being a "Stoperless" design. I must not have lined up something properly - probably the springs. I didn't full disassemble the anti-reverse mechanism but I had to have moved something out of position/alignment. I'll open the reel again, and using your video, hopefully be able to remedy the problem.
Awesome vid....great job....mine came undone like u mentioned where pieces flew like u said....didn't know how to put it back together but looked at your vid and BAM...working champion again! thank u
Thank you for your video Tom. you helped me out finish this puzzle. Let us know if you have a vid on explaining how to put the spring back in the bail. There's one on youtube but they do not show the actual way to place the spring and its plastic connector.
Thank you!!! I dissasembled my clutch and could not get it to work again. Happens to be that i installed the springs behind the rollers instead of in front of them. Simple thing that made it not work.
Had to do this myself on my shimano stradic ci4 1000 hg. Was a bit fiddly but managed to sort it. Make sure you have a small pair of tweezers or something similar. And another point is DO NOT GREASE THIS. As the grease will clog the springs and they wont work properly. Just use a small drop of oil.
Thank you so much for this video you saved my shimano sedona came across that issue and I couldn't figure it out till I came across this video. Thanks again
Great Video! The Anti-Reverse-Assembly was the only thing I was afraid to open and clean..Not anymore! On my shimano sustain, which i fished for years all of a sudden, when i get snagged somewhere and try to loosen, the antireverse unlocks and creates trouble. Lets see if it works again after cleanig the antireverse. Thanks alot!!
@@JerseyTom Hi Tom, just opened the thing - it was pretty messy inside with alot of oil in there. Cleaned everything and, thanks to your video, put it all back together in no time. Only one thing different was, the metal ring didnt have an indentation (Shimano Sustain 4000 FG) but it worked out fine anyway. Thanks again, your video was a big help!!
Thanks so much for this -- great help just at the right time! Unfortunately looks like I'll need to replace mine. Just too much rust damage on the rollers from neglect (used reel).
Really, really good video. After seeing how the inner workings of the anti-reverse bearing work now.... I still don't understand why it is a "no grease" assembly? What does grease do to negate the function of the anti-reverse?
it was great, Can you show how to complete the assembly for the rotator part as well. I did all the steps as the video but still the anti-reverse not working.
Thanks for doing this vid. I recently disassembled my Symetre 3000 because it was sticking...couldn't figure out why the anti-reverse wasn't working, until I watched your vid. I had that big washer in upside down.
Thanks mate. I'm having troubles with my antireverse in a Biomaster SW and I hope this video helps me to fix the problem. Can you make a tutorial for how to complete disassembly and re-assembly a shimano spinning reel? Biomaster or twinpower or stella if you can.. thanks anyway
usually I take pictures while doing such thing, but you made excellent video, thanks! Is it possible that only small amount of oil ( possible bearing droppings) can cause anti revers to fail? sometimes it just fail to hold, noticed that during below zero temperature and when I stuck on rock and try to release bait by shaking (stella 4000 95). Inside reel everything looks good as new, no corrosion, wearings, or broken parts.
Man, great video but I don't know what's wrong with my Sahara C5000, I've tried this process but it doesn't work no matter what I did, and that part isn't anywhere for sale.
hey, thanks for posting this video my questions is does the anti reverse should be completely dry from any lubrication? or it means that only grease is not allowed? thanks
Hi, My handle spins both ways when I have the Clicker on? So the Anti reverse does not work anymore. Do I have to just clean this to fix the problem? Thanks Gary
+Gary Bristow It sounds like the spring that the switch moves might be broken or out of position. I'd take it apart, clean it, and see if anything looks out of place.
damn i have been looking for 3 years who can fix my shimano reel, because of you i already fix it..your my savior thank you so much..salute
👍
Thanks so much man. Pulled it apart drunk and had no clue how to put it back together

Best 10:30 watch on RUclips! You helped me fix my anti-reverse thus saving me about thirty bucks for a new shimano sienna. Thank you!

Thanks, bro...even though your video is from 10 years ago... it helped me save my ultegra reel
happy it helped!
Thank you Tom, got my anti reverse working properly now after a reel service.

Thanks so much for this video. I would have given up without your help. I do appreciate your effort.
Thank you, thanks, you have saved my old stradic reel, with more than twenty years of use. BEST regards

Awesome vid, thanks so much for posting, I was stupid enough to take this apart and was panicking that the reel was a loss
Lifesaver! My Shimano Stradic FK was spinning backwards and I had no idea what was causing it. Definitely use this video in the future!
A Lin glad it helped!
Thanks a lot. I was really sad my reel stopped working. Now it is perfect.
Reassembled my Saragosa using this video, and I was able to correct the infinite reverse problem. Thanks!
No problem, glad that it helped. Tight lines!

Very helpful. Thanks for posting this and leaving it up.
thank you for this valuable video, i was in a big mess and could not get the damn thing back
Thank you!!! I dissasembled my clutch and could not get it to work again. Happens to be that i installed the springs behind the rollers instead of in front of them. Simple thing that made it not work.
Themn bro! You saved me! I guessed i destroyed my reel but whit your video i fixed the anti-reverse and could go fishing tommorrow!
Thank you! I repaired my reel thanks to your video!

hi,
thank you so much. your videao is clear . it helped me to resolve problem and reconstruct carefully my sienna shimano reel (anti-reverse)
it was great, Can you show how to complete the assembly for the rotator part as well. I did all the steps as the video but still the anti-reverse not working.
thanks. great job! very well done. Worked for me.
A great help thanks. Fixed my anti reverse!

No problem! The parts should all be clean and dry - no lube.
thanks
Brilliant video. V helpful ....thanks so much
Great video and saved me alot of time and inconvenience
My anti reverse switch and cam rotted on my shimano 6500. Can I access them to replace once I get this part you reassembled off the reel?
Thank you for sharing
Great VID thanks!
thanks hero now mi reel is perfect
what is a anti reverse used for I can't find any info on what and how to use it I got a Garcia Mitchell 300 and don't understand the reverse
So my anti revers is not working. If i flip that little metal ring over so the big side is facing up, it will work again?
I need to install the bail, do you have a video of that
thanks toms.. your video saved my shimano.. hehe
If only someone had a video for the Vanford. It's different than this one and I can't figure it out.
thanks for sharing, i will clean my solstace 4000 after 4 year used.
Awesome video!!!! Thanks!!!
