Related fun fact, Seekers of the Weird, a comic book released as part of the Disney Kingdoms line in 2014 featured Candleman as one of the villains. The comic is based on the Museum of the Weird and contains several other Rolly Crump character designs in it. Worth a look for Haunted Mansion fans!
The way this started, I was sure this was going to be a shaggy dog story. I stuck with it and it was worth it. This is your deepest secret yet.

That’s cool that the Candleman is finally in the haunted mansion. I was a little surprised, though, at how small it was and sort of stashed out of the way. Hopefully when the holiday overlay is removed in January, they will still keep the Candleman in the mansion but make it much bigger and more prominent.
Rollie passed away in March so probably a homage to him. The wallpaper is also part of what Rollie created for the museum of the weird, why I want the shirt you saw in Toyoko (I think). If you want to learn more about him and his contributions to Disneyland read his autobiography, It's Kind of a Cute Story.
Crump's book "It's Kind of a Cute Story" is a great read with a lot of fun stories from the Museum of the Weird planning sessions.
That was a great secret, I knew everything you were talking about except the Candle man. I am excited to look for him when we go to Disneyland in December. And thank you for the encouragement to students. I am 54 year old college student in my last semester at SLCC and I am in the process of getting ready to transfer to the University of Utah in January. It was good to hear words of encouragement as I accomplish my last semester at community college. Every time you let us know we matter and you care I cry. It is a great service for everyone who needs that at different times in their lives. Thank you.

OMG Chris, I never ever knew about that fact of the Candleman before. I am so amazed I got to know this in my lifetime and I can't thank you enough for expanding my Disney knowledge, I'm going to share this with my family and friends. Rolly Crump was such an amazing Disney Imagineer who worked on a lot of Disney projects from It's A Small World, Haunted Mansion, etc... His life and legacy will never be forgotten. Whatever got you interested in researching Disneyland facts and trivia, continue to keep educating me on this topic. I plan to keep coming to Disneyland as I get older.
AMAZING!!! I am so impressed that you spotted the Candleman, because he’s very small and kind of hidden in the attic!!! I’m sure you’ve seen the video clip of Walt giving Julie, “Miss Disney Tencennial” a tour of the Imagineers and Rolly Crump shows them some of the things they are working on for “The Museum of the Weird”! Can’t remember where I saw it, but I’ve seen it more than once!
