I worked in Rhyl, well Ffrith beach to be accurate in Prestatyn back in the summer of 95. Cliche I know. But I had the best time, was 24 and we stayed in a B&b in Rhyl for £12.50 a night. I got a £25 allowance in those days! So the rest I pocketed. Weather was amazing all summer and I had the best time of my life up till then. I met my boys mother and bought a house a little way away! I still go back even though my boys are adults now. It is really sad to see how Rhyl, along with most of the uk seaside towns have deteriorated. It’s got social problems I know, not helped by councils sending their difficult/undesirables to the town over a long period. But will always hold a place in my heart. Good piece Boss.
That’s what happened to Morecambe back in the 80s, there was little to no heroin back then. Hoteliers, ones who ran bed and breakfast and multi occupancy houses actually went round places like Manchester and Liverpool in minibuses picking up homeless people and “ne’er do wells” because they could charge the council ridiculous rent, it was a gold mine to them because before that, the bed and breakfast places would be empty in the Winter. Are these people in touch with their local community mental health teams??? GET TO HAFOD! Rhyl isn't the worst place in North Wales, Wales, UK or even the world. Yes it has problems like all towns, the Government need to address these issues, not DCC.

Aww! Lovely to witness the strong bond between friends. I don’t know if anyone else has flash backs like I do, but these videos give me memories of my friends that had my back way back when, as well as reminding me of the strength it took for me to survive the streets, the journey was insane. I did find that the ones that had the least could give the most away cigs, food, and their time to listen with encouragement. I also think it’s important to look at the full spectrum of the culture, because they are also some nasty ppl out there who do hurt others not because of a drug addiction or trauma, but because they are sadistic and enjoy causing pain to the most vulnerable in society. They thrive in dysfunction so the environment is ideal for them. And this should never be over looked. 😢 ❤️ Thanks for sharing what’s going on in our country. I think some of us are to scare to go to these dark rough places alone especially at night, you have saved us travel fees going to investigates for us all 😊 keep up the good work 👍
I’m successful and relatively well off. I know that one poor decision I could lose everything. Treat everyone the way you expect to be treated, helping someone not as fortunate as yourself is so much more fulfilling than earning money.

I can't help but notice how many people are calling out the " drug/drink addicts" on here , its like that nice young man that was with his friend with the pink hair , two people looking out for eachother in a cruel situation, just like he was saying looked down on by society and jumped up youths clothed and bankrolled by their parents in over expensive clothing without a clue about real life , these boys wouldn't last five minutes put in any of yours situations! Infiltrated by the people the big cities don’t want. All the nice properties converted into houses of multiple occupants. Few have skills, few of them work, few contribute anything positive to the local community. Once a town turns to that then there’s no coming back.
They pumped a load of homeless and people with drug/mental problems from the North West English cities into Rhyl when the UK Sea-Side Holidays started to decline and they just filled all the struggling B&B/Small Hotels with them and the rest is history, same with Colwyn Bay.
On the flipside the goverment in the 80s thacther did social enginnering Closed down trades like the mines Sold the housing stock Moved people from all cities due to overflow in major cities (liverpool surrounding areas like st helens runcorn widnes n wales and further afield) So maggies plan worked 40 years on Feeling the aftermath
@@doOf3rjust like the struggling after COVID hotel owners were all to ready to sell to or contract to the government for the new influx of community ruin , at least these people are our own who have experienced damage mostly or been let down in some ways we need to look after our own before we start to look after the rest of the world.

I've lived in rhyl all my life too and am getting fed up of all the bad press now. I watched this video and thought it was good but yet again, another video making out that the while of rhyl is a shit hole and not 1 local person was featured in it.
Such a shame to see my home town like this… I left the UK in 2018 and moved to Canada but my mum still lives on the outskirts of Rhyl I have so many fond memories of the town and there are some great people in Rhyl.
Not joking here Billy.. You should have your own programme so the country could see what's going on. The content is hard hitting and should be seen by the whole country..
So very sad to see, im 54 and some of my best childhood memories were of our once yearly holiday to Rhyl. My parents saved all year round to take us to Robin Hood caravan site. "It is still there to this day'. Back in the 70's it was Rhyl vs Blackpool. Blackpool was for the upper class. We did go to the annual 'Blackpool illuminations' which was cars driving from 1 end of Blackpool to the othher bumper to bumper in cars. We had a pack of sweets to share in the car whilst admiring the lights. What a dump it is now. These days the battle is not of the well off but 'battle of the dumps' so sad. 😢
I am the same age as you, I used to go to Robin Hood caravan site with my auntie uncle and nephews for my holiday every summer late 70 s into early 80 s. I love that site. I remember watching the 78 world cup final on a big screen in a hall loads of kids and adults watching it. Had some great times and memories there, I think Rhyl was just along the road. 😃👍
Ive lived in Rhyl for 30 years now. Ive never had a problem here. Some parts of Rhyl are really nice and the seafront and beach are lovely. There are people struggling with trauma, mental health and addiction in every town, city across the country. You mentioned violence at the end there. I am originally from Liverpool and I have friends with young families who are desperate to get out of Liverpool because of the violence and gangs and drugs. They love it down here and wish they could move here!
Another great video Billy, Ryhl was up there few weeks ago, it's not a great place anymore, it's full of fuckin sorrow, there is a lot of homeless, really felt for the old fella, something needs to be done to help him, he's to old and ill to be in that position. Keep up the great work Billy and stay safe on them streets.
Blessings Billy. Breaking these facts are ? What's the answer , is it more compassion in the people in the profession or the real people like yourself and others who know the score .
Love the lights outside the Imperial Hostel, great way to promote a hostel. Brad you speak so much with truth and passion, your words are so right in how people look at you, and perceive the way you are, keep going and shaz keep going hun, dont ever give up.Why the hell is Bob on the streets with disability's like this?. The guy who lost his partner made me cry, to find someone yu have been with like that must of been so traumatic. ❤Why oh why is this country not doing more, instead of keeping others in luxury who shouldn't be here !!😢😢😢.
Billy what did he mean , he needs to drink because of his liver , and he is right it is always the people struggling or who has been through the struggle who are the most empathic and helpful , i wouldnt of looked at that lad and known he was a alcoholic, i thought it was going to be her son talking about his mothers struggle , god bless them both 2 troubled souls but compassionate and tough
Thank you for taking the time to visit all these different places & also for having the heart to listen & understand people's stories & their struggles. It's more than can be said for many prominent RUclipsrs who seem to think it's OK to go around judging people based on how they look & resorting to calling them 'Crackies' & the like. These sorry excuses for humanity do not deserve the platform or subscribers they've got & I hope & pray karma will serve them up everything they deserve one day. You are truly an amazing guy & I hope you will continue with the great work you're doing every single day, Well Done Billy 👏🏻 ❤
Sorry but thats a total cop out,if some1's ur friend u should be there to support them as much as u can, otherwise ur not really a friend are u?? Far 2 many fake friends who think there better than people they've known there whole life just cause there addicted or have mental health issues and just look down there nose.at them which achieves nothing! But u carry in with ur perfect life....
It's odd how we put up millions of illegal immigrants into hotels with chefs on tap and here we are with a native down on his luck stuck on the street with no help and no housing
Look up a report from 2000 by the United Nations called Replacement Migration. The UK and most of Western Europe are following these instructions word for word
I always see the same type of comments on these vids. What you're doing is pitting immigrants vs homeless against each other, blaming immgrants for "taking all the accommodation" when the people you should really be angry with and blaming are the government/people in charge of housing, the system etc.
@@jaffacakes95 well said mate it is depressing that people believe this crap and have learnt to hate people while supporting those deliberately fcking us all over and making us blame each other.
Lived in Rhyl my whole life, good and bad to every town. If you only show the negative side & from one perspective then it looks bad. Our beaches are full in the summer, everyone having a good time from the cities and local towns. Would have been nice to see a more well-rounded perspective of the town (not just the town centre) and its people, not just those struggling.
Well done Billy, you're a really good man mate. Thanks for showing us the very bad, and sad side of life. Out there in the pissing rain, stay safe Bill. God bless you. Ian.
Never heard of a Star Bar. Must get one and try 😊. Rhyl is unreal. Lots of deprivation and sadness. Thanks for sharing Billy, you really are keeping it real!!! It’s important to show how shit some peoples lives are. YOU LOT in PARLIAMENT sort it out, these people deserve more!!!
Get the guy saying he doesn't understand how some people help but they give up cos it's a stress but when you're dealing with people in addiction, they have to be willing to help themselves. If you're putting more effort into helping them than they are helping themselves then they don't want it enough and you're just being pulled down with them.
You can't help until there already climbing and helping themselves. Until they loose that mentality that no one cares because no one does and thats a hard truth we all learn and learn not to look outside of areselves for help. People who are in addiction offer gestures of help to each other because they crave the compassion back. They are hurt people needing love and once they give it to themselves and flip that mentality from looking for it. They can get out of the life. It's all up to them,we all live a hard life,it either crushes you or hardens you up. You decide and people can't be around drowning people who don't get that because they'll use you as a life ring instead of swimming with you. There's no one coming to rescue us so swim and rescue yourself 👊
I'm surprised you didn't get yourself over to Northwich when you were near mine in winsford last week. It's the worst place now hardly anyone left of us in winsford who are active in drug addiction still where's Northwich has gone bad. Take care and be safe out there mate 👍

Rhyl and Towyn used to be thriving seaside towns, in the 70's and 80's. I have fond memories of being a kid on holiday there. Both are absolute run down now.
@dougaldouglas8842 really feels that way. Growing up in the 90s in north wales it was brilliant to go to the aquarium, amusements like Geronimos and the original sun centre. Now I don’t think I ever step in the place with my own kids
@dougaldouglas8842 yea when I visited I found photos of Rhyl in its hay day. I didn’t even know it once had a monorail. I have a video of it if you like to have a look
Used to come to Rhyl from the late 80s to early 2000s on holiday every year and with rose tinted glasses I moved up here in 2009 and have been here since. What was once a great seaside town is now just barber shops, phone repair shops, charity shops and police sirens going off daily. The sea front looks good, the harbour and retail park with the lake is great but the main town is run down, depressing and almost dead with a number of empty shops. I live near the Lorn pub and almost weekly the alcohol and arguing can be heard ringing down the street. Once I get that job offer in Llandudno I'm seeking I'll be gone from this dive lol. It's a shame what happened to it.
Most high streets have few shops nowadays wherever you go. They call it 'The Death of the High Street'. Online shopping has done a great deal of harm. With respect, if you live on the high street then you will get a lot of noise as it's simply not meant to be a residential area. I can assure you that there are plenty of streets in Rhyl which are quiet, suburban and look middle class. You don't need to go to Llandudo for that.
Very true words, but I do believe it’s down to that individual themselves to get the help. (Inner strength) My brother died of alcoholism we suffered as a family for 5 years maybe longer to get him the help and he always went back to alcohol 😔 yet we still blame ourselves I actually don’t think we could of done anymore of what we did for him. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing someone with addiction get the help and stay on the right tracks, sheerly because it didn’t happen for us.
Such a shame to see what Rhyl has become. Ive got so many fond memories of it as a kid. Its a shame the council have spent thousands on the front coast to make it look nice. But they have done nothing for the people that live there 😢
Yes Billy lad.... RHYL WAS A GET AWAY N HOLIDAY PLACE FOR YRS... But yes like many places it's been left to rot... The beach is terrible n the sea of them huge wind machines make it look grim... Wales is now flooded with heroin and crack
Every sea side town is the same once everyone seen Spain 🇪🇸 sadly I mean there’s grass growing on beach’s here know 😢
Are these people in touch with their local community mental health teams??? GET TO HAFOD! Rhyl isn't the worst place in North Wales, Wales, UK or even the world. Yes it has problems like all towns, the Government need to address these issues, not DCC.

I was really moved by these two , such a sad situation , iv been away from the UK for twenty years , I didn’t expect to see so many British people in such a bad way , not just in Rhyl , but everywhere . What has happened ! Successive governments should be ashamed of themselves . Keep up this reporting Bill , someone needs to ! Respect to you .
It’s criminal how the local councils have let our once bustling seaside towns turn into what most are today.. when i was growing up in the 80,s rhyl was just as busy as the more popular towns…
Cheap popular holidays abroad killed the North Wales coastal resorts.
Rhyl used to be a great holiday resort when I was a little kid. Like a lot of towns these days it is now a right shithole
It shouldn't be though. You've got conwy and llandudno nearby. They aren't shitholes
Rhyl sun centre from my youth in the 70s was brilliant

Thanks Billy 👌💯, holidays in Rhyl and prestatyn, last time I was there about thirty years ago, me and my mate travelled round the North West and Yorkshire, strimming, or wiring the slotties, and my share went up in smoke. Another banger 💥, absolutely love these out and abouts, always bringing back memories, some lost ppl on this vid Billy, and the £2 touch was a class act, loved that mate 👌💯.
Childhood trauma is the gateway drug.
Since when have people asked for childhood trauma? Fuck you and your comment
I’m a relatively new subscriber to your channel m8, came across this by accident…I honestly think it’s the best thing I watch on RUclips now…I hear you mention other things you’ve done and was wondering if there’s anything else on RUclips that I can see that you are in ?
Love how you can fully understand and appreciate what people are going through and it gives me a small insight into the other side of the coin..never change m8
Thank you 🙏
Trauma , mental illness .. is thw plan the government want these tent , drug addiction cities 😢i deeamt this long time oooo my heart is aching. Thank you for being kind .. TRAUMA
Thanks for sharing what’s going on in our country. I think some of us are to scare to go to these dark rough places alone especially at night, you have saved us travel fees going to investigates for us all 😊

Thanks Billy, keep on going my brother, the more we all see the more we can all understand.
I’m successful and relatively well off. I know that one poor decision I could lose everything. Treat everyone the way you expect to be treated, helping someone not as fortunate as yourself is so much more fulfilling than earning money.
Same was homeless at 16, in prison till 21. Had a massive wakeup call now I'm 38 married with 2 children, business owner with 40 employees, no mortgage. It literally is life choices and we can all change.

You all have some good friends . Its a disgrace that older guy on the crutches is that situation to when people arrive in this country illegally and get hotels and housing ! .I felt bad for that lovely lad at the end he seems a genuine person with a good heart I hope they are all doing well . Thank you for showing some thing real , i get tired of seeing all the set up BS on here . Great job ❤
Great vid. Talking to real people and seeing what's really going on in the country I love.
Lived in rhyl 31 years and watched the down slide downhill my entire life. Homeless people multiply by the year, there's nothing for kids and youths to do so they turn to drugs and alcohol and crime. It's sad really

Some strong people in this vlog.
Materialistic items mean fk all. Wise words.
Great video again Billy . Thanks
Infiltrated by the people the big cities don’t want. All the nice properties converted into houses of multiple occupants.
Few have skills, few of them work, few contribute anything positive to the local community. Once a town turns to that then there’s no coming back.
blah.
They pumped a load of homeless and people with drug/mental problems from the North West English cities into Rhyl when the UK Sea-Side Holidays started to decline and they just filled all the struggling B&B/Small Hotels with them and the rest is history, same with Colwyn Bay.
On the flipside the goverment in the 80s thacther did social enginnering
Closed down trades like the mines
Sold the housing stock
Moved people from all cities due to overflow in major cities (liverpool surrounding areas like st helens runcorn widnes n wales and further afield)
So maggies plan worked
40 years on
Feeling the aftermath
@@doOf3rColwyn bay is a lot better than rhyl.

I am the same age as you, I used to go to Robin Hood caravan site with my auntie uncle and nephews
for my holiday every summer late 70 s into early 80 s. I love that site.
I remember watching the 78 world cup final on a big screen in a hall loads of kids and adults watching it. Had some great times and memories there, I think Rhyl was just along the road. 😃👍
It is still not as bad as St Helens and certain parts of Liverpool and Manchester.

What a brilliant person you are Billy, have a lot of respect for you
Very good interview style.
Last line of video says “Another run down town in north of England”
I thought Rhyl was north Wales
Well done for being smug. No Rhyl is not North Wales. it's a place in North Wales
Material things dont matter to Brad ...he says with his Rolex watch glistening....
It's a Bolex not a Rolex.
FAKE......WHY WHY WHY????
Oh I Geddit...Innit....
He's a thug, an utter parasite, ask the real locals.
Blessings Billy. Breaking these facts are ? What's the answer , is it more compassion in the people in the profession or the real people like yourself and others who know the score .
I love this channel! I’ve had some mad nights out in Rhyl many years ago.
Its true what they say, everyone has a story so don’t judge!!
Like many places in the UK, it has been hollowed out. It's best days long gone.

Our beaches are full in the summer, everyone having a good time from the cities and local towns. Would have been nice to see a more well-rounded perspective of the town (not just the town centre) and its people, not just those struggling.

S tier chocolate bar, go and get one down yer!

Llandudno is lovely but neighbouring Bangor is also a hole. It’s really run down and I remember the 90s there it was really nice.
It's true, always those with the least who are the kindest. God bless them x

Went to Rhyl in April absolutely sh*t hole during the day been n worked some rough places but Rhyl whole different level
