Forza horizon 5 just lacks the vtec crossover in general. Fh2 and fh3 did it the best. They did improve the intergra sound but for the love of God you can't hear the crossover. In real life it's so aggressive. Yet it's quiet in fh5
I'll add a few entries. E36 M3 - Decent in Horizon 3, absolutely perfect in Horizon 4, too low pitch in Horizon 5 Cadillac CTS-V - Perfect in Horizon 3, not too bad in Horizon 4 but they completely messed up in Horizon 5 Jeep Trailcat - Perfect in Horizon 3, for some reason has a Porsche Cayenne/Urus V8 sound in Horizon 4 and 5 instead of a Hellcat sound
Kinda stupid how they managed to mess up a bunch of cars where they could've ideally copypasted samples straight ahead - Trailcat being a good example as you said. Literally a Hellcat engine... +1 for pitching in general being all over the place for several samples. Most messed up pitch award goes to the tuned parts on the Powerstroke diesel in the F-450 SD, while the stock parts are fine. Even more funny is the fact the Hot Wheels dually (which IRL has a Powerstroke as well) is somewhat okay, so why not just backporting at that point. Heck, even the Nissan Titan and the Hummer H1 are fine...
Im just laughing at the fact almost everybody complained so much about the sounds in FH4, and they were like so happy about FH5 sounds, but many many cars sounds completely wrong, and even worse then previous games. p.s And, yes. Idling sounds doesn’t exist anymore:( And that ruins driving immersion. Many muscle cars in FH4 even, was better and had proper low rpm sounds.
The 350z sounds exactly like in real life and also in forza so they actually nailed it EDIT: the one from fh4 sounds more like a gtr irl so they actually improved in fh5. Also ik what a stock 350z with straight pipe exhaust sounds like and its pretty identical to fh5
0:15 hell no, the older games sounds a billion times better and so as fh2, fh5 barely does anything but it has the worst sounds just like fh4 maybe better but it sounds awful, just like the r8 that sounds bad in fh5 the 2013 r8 sounded good in fh5 but not the v10 plus Quattro and the fxx that sounds very bad in fh5 and so as the m5 E60 that sounds horrendous in fh5, fh4 did it better, and those godamn silent sounds have became a bane of my existence even GTAV destroyed fh5 in car sounds and none of the cars can anywhere be accurate after just only focusing on the engine sounds
The Lotus Elise gt1 in horizon 4 had super loud backfire it actually sounded realistic. (This only worked with its stock engine) Most people just swapped its engine.

If you put a sport exhaust on the countach in FH5 it sounds identical to FH2

If you change the m3 to the first exhaust option it puts the sound correct. Same with the 350z

The E60 M5 in Forza Horizon 5 sounds absolutely horrendous. In Horizon 4 and Motorsport 7, they absolutely nailed the sound.
The '99 Viper GTS in FH4 is one of the worst car sounds in the game. Much, much better in FH2.

I don't like forza horizon 5 much as it lacks so much things. Only graphics were better. I love fh2, fh4 and fm7.
