    We just went with BOIP out of Richmond and we live in Tidewater VA. Our internet sucked using Verizon WiFi hotspots and the throttling and data cap woes. I can't believe how great the setup is you describe in this video. They do the setup for a pretty penny, but it is sooo worth it to get the speeds we get now. Especially for a RUclipsr/Influencer running a channel like us. Great Video by the way. You got a subscribe from me.

    I am in rural VA as well. I use the mofi 4500 with spint/tmobile I used it with the Surecall Fusion4Home cellular booster with an omni directional antenna. I have been able to get signal strength at 44dBm and speeds in the double digits ...... mind you I have a cell tower less than a mile away though 😀
    It is definitely a great way to get 4glte internet in the house.

  • @gtrnka

    I started our with Verizon prepay till they shut off the data on the account. Then I tried Page+ till they necked down my speeds every three weeks. Then I tried out Visible and it works great! Some days I get up to 25-30s on downloads, but usually I am 10-15 for downloads. I am just using the antennas with the MoFi at a window in the house that is facing the cell tower about 6 miles away. I also turned off the WiFi on the MoFi and use a NightHawk router to manage the WiFi in the house.

  • @cosmiclawnmower9818
    @cosmiclawnmower9818 3 года назад +12

    I believe the key to not having the wireless carrier suspend your account is using an LTE modem with the ability to set custom time to live (TTL) settings. The Mofi is one of the few devices out there that allows this. If TTL is set to 65 if I'm not mistaken, this tricks the carrier into thinking that the data usage is all streaming data from a smartphone and not tethered data from a LTE modem device, which most carriers are usually stricter about.

    • @MasicoreLord
      @MasicoreLord 2 года назад

      Especially when that plan you are using, doesn't approve use in a dedicated hotspot device (not a data/hotspot only plan).
      I recommend instead to use/activate a phone w/ a signal booster if needed to use as a home phone (as either way you are paying for unlimited calls/texts, and gives you a nice alternative number to hand out), and hotspot straight off that. Even hot-spotting to a mobile router that then shares on a secondary network is less risky.

    • @cosmiclawnmower9818
      @cosmiclawnmower9818 2 года назад +2

      @@MasicoreLord That's a good point. I came up with a loophole solution that works well with Visible. I bought a Teltonika RUT240 LTE modem/router for home failover internet when my cable goes out. It functions as a WIFI router, but also has the ability to act as a wireless station to pull its WAN connection from another access point. Visible wireless allows unlimited tethered data from a smartphone's hotspot, but the bandwidth is capped at 5 MB/s and only 1 device may be connected at a time. To get around the 1 device limit, if I connect the RUT240's wireless station to my phone's hotspot, and then connect all devices in my home to the RUT240's LAN, I am able to share my phone's hotspot with everything if my main cable internet goes out.

    If the arrow on your map is pointing at your house, you are directly north of me by just a few miles! Harrisonburg is 40 minutes from my house. I am in the same boat as you. Work from home and got sick of DSL. I've had the Mofi 4500 for a couple of years now. But, had an outside company handling the sim card portion. They were charging me $140 a month. It was using AT&T with speeds of 32d and 5u. At&t shut off all of the cards. I dumped them but kept the mofi, as I generally paid for it for two years...lol... Anyway, trying to shop for sim cards and ran across your video. I have the 4500 sim7 model. Verizon confirmed that it would work with them, but of course they don't offer unlimited data. Spring/T-mobile tower is 5G but too far away from me and won't get good signal. I looked up my EMEI with Visible, but it says not compatible. This is not fun. The one thing I wonder is, will an antenna such as grid or the others help lower my latency? That's the one thing I could use for gaming if it would significantly help.

    Bro I know you’ve seen my vids on this. Why haven’t you gotten a parabolic grid? Their on amazon for 249$. The sim 7 is good but the sim 4 combo is great due to CA. So.. a parabolic is going to pretty much double or triple what you are already getting man. It’s 26 dB vs a Yagi which is 9. Keep one Yagi as a secondary antenna and use the parabolic for primary. It’s super directional but will blow your mind. Another thing that will blow your mind is it you tether a gaming router or any AC router to the mofi and use it as your source of WIFI through the mofi you’ll see a dramatic increase in speeds! I’ve obsessed for 2 years on this tried every setup and antenna possible lol. Best of luck good job explaining it and visible! 👍🏻. Just go on my channel I have dozens of vids on this stuff!

Before I installed it into the MoFi we were seeing Verizon rsrp0 readings of -76 to -84 and averaged 7 Mbps down and 4 Mbps up. Not great obviously but after installing the SIM our rsrp0 readings went to -108 to -120 and averaged 3 Mbps down and 0.2 Mbps up. I got on the Verizon app and it recognized that their SIM was installed in the MoFi. We didn’t get canceled but unless it was just a coincidence they definitely throttled us down. We talked about getting the visible SIM but wanted to try the Verizon one out first before we committed to something else... so yeah. Get the visible SIM!

    I have been using HughesNet for over ten years now. Obviously, it has it's issues or I wouldn't be looking for something else. All of these videos say "Super Fast" or "High Speed" for the solutions that you have come up with. In this video, you just said that satellite internet would be slower than what you just reported (13.68 Mbps down/4.68 Mbps up). I just ran a speed test on HughesNet and got 38.16 Mbs down/3.58 Mbps up. The kicker is the ping, or latency, which was at 875 ms. This causes some applications to not function well over satellite. As you said, it is expensive. Also, weather has a major impact on connectivity. I tried out Nomad internet and was very disappointed (~8 Mbps down/1 Mbps up). I'm not sure this solution will be better than what I have.
