Easy Knit Baby Cardigan Sweater from 0-3M to 12M / Beginner Friendly Knitting /The Lily pattern

  • Lily Knit Baby Cardigan Sweater for boys and girls from 0 3M and up to 12m Basic Knitting Pattern
    This absolutely beautiful baby cardigan sweater is knit from the top down all in one piece with no need to use circular needles. You can make this little sweater smaller or bigger by simply changing needle size and making it exactly like this tutorial ignoring the measurements provided in the tutorial since those only apply to the size mentioned at the beginning of the video. See below. Keep in mind that THESE SIZES ARE BASED ON STANDARD SIZE MEASUREMENTS AND NOT ALL BABIES ARE THE SAME SIZE. ALSO YOUR TENSION WILL VARY WHICH CAN AFFECT THE FINAL SIZE.

    Size:
    Preemie use 3.5mm needles with #3, #4, DK, Aran or 8ply, 10ply yarn
    NB use 4mm needles with #3, #4, DK, Aran or 8ply, 10ply yarn
    0-3M use 4.5mm needles with #3, #4, DK, Aran or 8ply, 10ply yarn
    3-6M use 5mm needles with #4, Aran or 10ply yarn
    6-12M use 5.5mm needles with #4, Aran or 10ply yarn
    🍄Approx. Gauge in 2in= 16 rows/8.25 sts with 4.5 needles and Baby Aran yarn in stockinette stitch
    🌷Buttons: Six 13mm
    💐Needles used: 4.5mm, US size 7, Clover 32in long circulars, you can use straight needles too
    🌹Yarn Used: 75g James C Brett Super Soft Aran

    Thank you for the cute pattern. I felt I needed more stitches for the arms to make less tube looking and more roomy arms. I made one more row of increased yoke stitches for bigger arms then decreased rows gradually for shaping the arms to a smaller opening for wrists with a k1, p1 edging to better match the neckline.     Bought this pattern on Etsy and loving the video help here. I think though I may try knitting the sleeve in a round, using purl rounds to keep the garter pattern

    Lovely pattern thanks for the tutorial. I only put 3 buttons on as the cardigan is absolutely tiny. I made a matching hat and baby boots aswell. I have put the whole set on a teddy bear 😂

    I've crocheted many baby items, but this is the first clothing item besides a hat that I am knitting. Thank you for a beautiful pattern and for such a precise and clear tutorial, made it so much easier for me. I am curious though I was taught to knit from the front and I noticed you knit through the back, does it make any difference? I may try your way for a change of pace if it makes no difference, thanks again! God bless!

    A beautiful pattern a very well explianed as always. I always desire to make bigger sizes . However i fail to see or find the 'box below ' with bigger sizes that you refer to in all your tutorials. Pls help exactly where would this be for example i need to make a bigger size for 3 to 6months bany but unable to do it as i dont have the guidance on the number of stitches

    Oh, I noticed that on some knit rows you knit in the front, and some knit rows you knit in the back. Why is that? I’m sure you have a very good reason. Your knitting and crochet is so beautiful.

      I’m a combination continental knitter. You can knit and purl however way you’ve learned to knit and the end result is the same

      I tie my on using the same yarn then hide my ends on the inside.

    When making buttonholes, I knit them on BOTH sides so I know exactly where to sew the buttons to match the position with the hole. It also gives me the option to decide at a later time whether to make it for a boy or girl

    Beautiful patten an great tutorial i have subscribed to both of your sites but never finished anything as yarn and needles dont match,bit confusing in yarns dk same needles as aran dosnt work same as your crochet site ,think a stitch count will work better than changing needle size

    Really liked how the cardigan turned out, but I think that the holes at the end of my sleeves (where the baby's hand is supposed to go through) got to tight...

      Yes I’ve used it on my own kids. It’s a personal preference I guess. Some babies are allergic to wool too like mine were.

    lovely pattern but it isn't true to size I did 0/3 months on correct needles and same make of wool in video it will fit a doll or small prem baby

      Yes it’s true to size. At the end of the tutorial you will find the finished measurements and gauge info is in the information box. Sounds like the gauge is way off on yours because there’s no way it would come out that small if you had the same gauge.
