So funny. We first saw this video on our camping trip when we arrived in Sleeping Bear Dunes. The timing was perfect. We were traveling opposite of you and later did Traverse City, Charlevoix and Mackinaw Island. Your videos helped us in our journeys. We are sailors but enjoyed our trip on land which also included the Mississippi River in Iowa, as well as the Tennessee river. We have enjoyed your videos of your travels and you have inspired us to think about doing the looper. Continued health and wellness!
I've followed you all since the beginning, your videography and editing is spot on. The music and content is superb, beautiful, thank you for taking us along ❤
I feel like so many people that dont live here dog on Michigan. Makes me proud to see you both enjoying it so much. It really is a very unique state with so much to offer, wouldn't trade it for anything 🤘🏼
We live on the other side of the Lake Michigan coastline and we've traveled a bit ourselves. It's our opinion the Great Lakes coastline is some of the most beautiful, and quietly underrated, coastline in America. A well kept secret.
Fun video. Sailboat raced Lake Michigan for years so spent time in North Channel, Canada and down on many Wisconsin and Michigan Harbors. Tradition is to leave a jar of honey or pour some honey overboard when going by Sleeping Bear Dunes. Glad they must have “given you a Pass”! I have been in many, many squalls and storms on Lake Michigan in daylight and in the night and can’t imagining anchoring overnight. Of course our ground tackle was not nearly as robust as what you are using. Just started watching your videos but so impressed with the filming, audio tracks, your commentary and , well, everything. Very informative, beautiful and “chill”. Thank you. Be well.
We loved this video!!! Fishtown (and that cheese shop) is another spot we had wanted to visit, but couldn’t. So it was great to experience it through y’all! That sunset was stunning! And your flag may be tattered, but I think it just shows what an epic adventure y’all have been on and all you have experienced. So proud of y’all ❤
I never realize just how beautiful Lake Michigan is. Unbelievable weather you are crossing the Lake. Another 300+ miles to Chicago. I assume you are going to be "hugging " the coastline. Yes, let's get you off of the Lake before you become a shipwreck.
Thank you so much for posting your date of filming. We are at Traverse City (/23/23/)in fog. We are planning on anchoring at the same spot as we amble down Lake Michigan waiting for the Illinois lock to open, hopefully Oct 1.
So happy Lake Michigan has been good so far. Glad the videos are coming out regularly again. Watching your channel is the highlight of my day. I have been following since you replaced your deck.
I have just come across your channel. It is so good. I love your trips. We own a motorhome so we do the same type of thing except on land, I can relate! It turns out that I'm watching your trip around Michigan. We are headed there in a month! 😊 so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your adventures
I assumed your episode was about backpacking other countries. I came across AGLCA referrals on your vgol. I find it attractive. My second day & I'm on episode # 153...😊
Hi. But where did Ollie pee if she didnt go to shore on Manitou Island? Is she good at using her grass mat? Im nervous for taking Cruzer. Hopefully he learns. Great video as always.
She does use her pee pad, but only on days like this where we don't go to shore overnight and cruise the next day. We have an article on our website for how we trained Ollie, but basically, just with persistence, I'm sure you will get Cruzer on board if he is unwilling at the beginning!
You guys are so conservative. 15 knots, 2-3 foot seas? You could easily handle up to small craft warnings. Grew up salmon fishng off Ludington, cruisd th Great Lakes on the 34 ft. cruiser my Dad built, fondly remember summers off school. Nostalgic for the 1960's. You have fun. Try the Lake Perch.
They have clearly stated they are "fair weather boaters", That's fine, what works for them. I can see where it would make scheduling a bit difficult at times. The prevailing winds on the lake are usually from the west though. I used to go out in 3-4 footers in my 16' fishing boat off from Grand Haven and Muskegon. If you were around in the 60's you probably remember the "salmon fever" days when many people took small boats out in really bad weather and a number of them died in storms. I can remember at that time with my dad in our 14', deep hulled wooden runabout, coming down the channel at Grand Haven. There were small craft warnings for the lake. It was rough out on the lake and the big waves were just bouncing back and forth between the piers in the channel. Very chaotic seas. I was about 9 or 10 years old and had never seen waves like that before. It scared the crap out of me! We turned around and just went fishing in the bayous of the river. Which was the right choice to make.
Hi, me and my girlfriend are thinking about doing this loop adventure (will be starting from St. Louis) probably Alton Marina from your map......I am confused did you already finish the trip? we have been watching your videos together as they come up (recently) so are wondering when you pass through. Good Luck!!
Hi Alan, yes we did our Loop in 22-23. We are releasing videos roughly twice a week sharing the adventure! We passed through your area in late September / early October. We highly recommend looping if y'all are interested, it is a wonderful adventure!
Love your content. You’re a lovely couple. Please trim your flag for the GALoop. I’m OCD and it’s driving me nuts! Once again, thanks for sharing your adventures with us. A real treat. K
Thanks for the video link we plan on anchoring there in the next week or so. The intro gave a glimpse of where it is popular to anchor. Interesting story as well.

Thanks for covering Leland. A friend has his family retreat there and loves it.
Ahhh, this was just what I needed with my coffee this morning. So relaxing. I love it when Ollie talks :-)

We say no to becoming a shipwreck too 😁 thanks for watching Bob!

Awesome, hope you enjoy the spot!
The electric motor on the dinghy is so not noisy, what a nice difference from gas powered motors
This is an amazing part of Michigan. Your videos are so beautiful of this area.
Thanks Michael!
You guys are super amazing unbelievable.
The cruise looked fabulous 🎉🎉🎉
I'm in Detroit but I've deer hunted near Charlevoix for years, there's a lot of cool bars and restaurants......
So envious of you three!❤❤❤❤
Ollie the Loop Dog......did you collect rocks for the trip to chew on 😄 🤣
Always!

Thanks so much Will 🙏
For real cheese curds you get Canadian curds squeeze ones
The boat can take the pounding. The crew?
I love your videos!

The boat can handle it but could we? Maybe... We are pleasure cruisers 😁

As great as Michigan waters are (I grew up there); I commend you for trading the time for the North Channel in lieu of MI.
Will just have to come back to Michigan and explore it more!
Just realized these videos are from last summer lol disregard my last comments

Haha I wish we could go back in time but we consider it "Looper Cred". Hopefully you can make it with our torn burgee until it goes GOLD 😁
It's a shame people are after monetary gains. Chesapeake bay & the Great Lakes are a good example 💔
Looper flag is a disgrace. Buy a new one.
We consider it Looper Cred
Did you see this ship wreck off the coast of S Manitou Island? www.nps.gov/slbe/learn/historyculture/shipwreckmorazan.htm
It is very viable.
Nope! It may have been on the other side of the island or covered up this year!
Thanks for the video link we plan on anchoring there in the next week or so. The intro gave a glimpse of where it is popular to anchor. Interesting story as well.
