- According to official US sources the Iranian attack on Israel is going to happen within the next few hours. The attacks will most likely be conducted by Iran and it's proxies on Israel using missiles and drones simultaneously. Israeli forces are primed to respond and will begin conducting strikes on Iran and Iranian backed groups soon after the attacks occur. Flights into Iran have been cancelled, and foreign missions in Israel are bunkering up. Meanwhile in Russia large fires have broken out in Kazan and Moscow, and 2 Russian helicopters were lost in Crimea.

Replacing the helicopters is "easy"... compared to replacing the flight crew lost. The helicopter takes a month to build. Training a skilled, competent flight crew, takes years.
Except for the Western computer chips needed, make that 6 months to build or not at all.
I highly doubt Russia could build a functional helicopter in only one month.
When you talk about these countries the funding to build needed infastructure, build the platforms, have qualified trainin cadre, then train air crews....its a significant burden. A prohibitive one in many aspects

But again, it's a lot easier to fix a material problem like production - vast amounts of money and resources hurled at the problem can accelerate the process significantly. But you can have literally all the money in the world and throw it at pilot cadets... no amount of money will speed up how long it takes to take a cadet to become a skilled pilot. Only time can do this, it cannot be bought / sped up. Losing a flight crew is 100x worse than losing a helicopter.. the flight crew, if it had 3 or 4 or 5+ years of experience, is lost forever and will be replaced by a newly trained flight crew that has no experience to speak of and only basic flight skills from being recently trained.
The loss of helicopters can be "fixed" much more easily... yes, it's still a burden, but you can still spend resources to speed things up... not the case with pilots / crew for the helicopters / aircraft or even tanks.

Hey Matt, just for reference; a flood plain is a geographical feature; like a mountain it is always a mountain (even if nobody is climbing it.
Its a flood when water is running down a flood plain. There are many flood plains in the USA too (cites the Mississippi). Dams are not just water holding devices they are also flood mitigation devices; to minimise the effects of seasonal flooding.
The problem here is that Russia is at fault for a total neglect of maintenance.

The color of smoke is not always indicative of what is inside. Normally when one of the three elements to make fire, oxygen, fuel, spark is removed, the fire stops. When oxygen starts being consumed too fast in a large fire, you will see the smoke start to turn dark black. That is unburnt fuel that is superheated and ready for another spark to occur, usually by another flame flicker. Too much oxygen and not enough fuel and you get a whiter smoke.
Again that is not a constant and yes, different fuels and accelerants can change the color, thickness, etc, but more of a rule of thumb.

Nope, That's the US saying this is based on the sat data. We can see people moving stuff around with our magic prism eye. Unfortunately the Iranians know we can see them. They move and then what? What is with these rooftop fires in Russia this is like the fourth or fifth one I have seen it is so unusual for a building to have its roof on fire but the rest of it is fine. It’s almost like somebody’s dropping flammable material on the roof and then starting it on fire.

Israel does not have the capability to attack iran. Israel does not have missiles, and israeli fighter jets cannot be refueled on their way to Iran.
I wonder how Jordan will react, if Iranian ballistic missiles come into their air space.
And the very moment Iran do something and subject to what they do, the response would be very harsh I predict. For my money, Iran will just sit back, play the card of supplier rather than fighter. They didn't do anything last week when it was predicted then so unlikely to happen.

Of course, when Russia loses a helicopter, they usually lose the pilot and crew also, and replacing them takes longer than replacing the helicopter.

When it comes to Russian helicopter losses and saying it will take a long time to replace them, this assumes that their supply is extremely low. As far as I’m aware, this is the first reported Ka-27 Helix lost by the Russian navy with the exception of whatever they lost in aboard ships sunk, which I believe is one more. They had about 50 upgraded versions a few years ago, plus the additional 50 more they already had, so replacing two isn’t going to be too hard. As for Mi-24/Mi-35 variants lost, that’s only about 20-30 total right now. That leaves another 300 in Russian military service still.
The positive for Ukraine comes more from the crew of each being lost. It takes Russia less time to build new helicopters and aircraft than it does to train new crews.
