    One of your best vids boys, extended format is a winner. That country was the real star, the Elk were a bonus, didn't even know you Kiwis had imported them. Pity the meat appeared to go to waste. Maybe youse should also import some Grizz as well, they'd thrive there and give youse something else to hunt and hunt you back Ha ha.

      Haha thanks! Yea they came over in the early 1900s. I’m ok with not having grizzlies over here though😅

    This fact you very rarely do long videos makes them a treat. Great trip guys, awesome footage and impressive heads no matter the mistake. Looking forward to seeing more.

    Excellent video, I'm an English hunter, but have hunted Elk in Montana 4 times, public land self guided, managed 2 bulls on my visits, tough country, just like yours!

      Glad you enjoyed it, yea I agree fly fishing would be the way to go. We didn’t take the fly rod on this trip because we were mainly just after wapiti. Wouldn’t go back without a fly rod

    Epic hunt guys and some nice bulls seen & got even though the last one may have been a little too young. My question is what did you do with all that meat? Happy New Year to you all and your families. How many types of deer are there in N.Z?.

    • @clarkeboyshunting
      @clarkeboyshunting  Год назад +2

      Happy new year! We carry what we can but sometimes on these bigger hunts we do have to leave some behind. In NZ we have wapiti, reds, sika, fallow, rusa, samba and white tail that I can think of off the top of my head. I may have missed one though

    Totally enjoy all your posts, hunting, fishing and diving awesome, i understand the remoteness of the area, but such a shame all hunting in the Fiordlands the meat of a remarkable animal is being wasted, showing no respect to their magnificence.

    I don't know how you guys handle those almost vertical slopes. I get dizzy just watching your videos. How do you get the meat back home, or do you leave it. A chopper and sling would be nice. Great video. Pax.

    • @clarkeboyshunting

      On these big hunts we sometimes don’t take all the meat depending on where we are. We try and carry what we can but some does get left behind.

      It’s good because of how quick and easy it is to use but the optics aren’t the best. Good for long range shooting but not for close up bush hunting.

    how do you keep meat from going off ,,,,and what cartridges are you using

    • @clarkeboyshunting
      @clarkeboyshunting  Год назад

      Venison seems to keep reasonably well for a few days especially if the nights are cooler and you can keep them in the shade during the day. Flies are a bigger problem. We usually cool it down overnight then put it in a bag for the rest of the trip unless there is a meat safe we can hang it

    You left some fair animals behind and you should not feel guilty about taking a reasonable trophy. A year or two is not a big issue. Good video and fair hunting.

    • @clarkeboyshunting
      @clarkeboyshunting  Год назад

      Thanks James, yes we did leave a lot of animals but we still are disappointed we didn’t get it right with the second bull. It is what it is now though and it was still an amazing trip. Thanks for watching once again.

  • @bentea4776

    Do you not take the meat? I understand youtube has anti blood policies in place so it could just be not shown? Elk meat is delicious so I would hope its not wasted.

    • @clarkeboyshunting
      @clarkeboyshunting  Год назад

      We stopped showing any butchering of meat because all of our videos were getting age restricted or taken down. It’s so stupid. We don’t take all the meat on these remote hunts but try and take what we can
