Awesome effort boys. You put in the hard yards, and got rewarded with a great bull, and more importantly great memories that you will treasure forever 👍
Bloody good going. good effort on the walk out i bet ole mate was rooted while carrying all his gear and that rack for 12+ hours. I know how how hard that can be. top effort lads
Awesome vid guys kool to see the country above lake bernard. We had the block period before you guys. We hunted up to the bottom edge of lake and attempted to get around for just a day hunt but pin on it. Awesome country amazing trophy well done guys👍
Well done fellas, and great bull. Got me a little nostalgic. We were a few valleys over in the Edith same period. Was a hell of a storm up on the Edith saddle (which was also a bomb proof camp spot).
Thats an epic bull! Good job! Once you've headskinned the animal, you can skull cap it getting rid of the weight of skull and brain. I've got a small saw on my skinning knife for skullcapping.
Awesome Edit Tim, Well done on the Bull, Nice to see what the other half of the block looked like :) Unreal country eh!! The Swamps were unreal! Should have my Wild Natives Video up at some point soonish :) Cheers for sharing!!
What camera lens did you film the hunt on? Probably who ever told you there were "No deer up there" knew there was a nice bull up there... Thanks for sharing your trip Tim...Well done, both of you. I've never heard of Zoleo ...so thanks for the heads up.
Sorry I didn’t pick up on the brand name of those rubber over boots you where wearing or who the suppliers of them are? Great video guys. Good to see you out there doing it in Southland,NZ…Fiordland is Tiger Country.

Got a couple of question. After you shot that Bull did you fly camp there or hump all the way back to your rock Bivvy in the dark? What model battery banks do you use to keep your gear charged? What model Stone Glacier Pack did you use? Cheers, grt video...
Hey mate! Slogged back to the rock biv after we went down to the bull to get the head skin done and cooling over a bush. Didn’t want it to slip the hair by staying hot on the animal. Power banks are a real mix of brands, nightcore and a couple from Harvey normal. And the packs are Stone glacier Sky Talus 6900 (grey one) and then the gold one is the Evo model.
@@timschulpen thought so, did you find them big enough for the trip/ comfortable? Running Kuiu Pro 6000 at the moment and have been doing a bit of research on those Stone Glacier packs and trying to find some reviews on them from local guys. Thanks
@@RaptorNZ Plenty of space and super comfortable. Given its a seriously good run over the last year and I'm seriously impressed with it. The whole design beats anything else on the market in my opinion.
The forecast through the Zoleo was pretty average but just flicking a message out to someone who knows their stuff on getting a solid forecast was definitely the way to go. The Zoleo weather forecast is for the area, not for the localised spot I believe.
Hey mate! Appreciate the comment. Packs going in were 32kg, we covered well over 70km over the trip in some of the hardest country you can find. Head skin would have been around 12kg and head around 15kg it doesn't take long before your lugging around 50kg+ through a swamp!
@@timschulpen wholly fuckolly, thats heavy, I get that - and thats without carrying water in. Pitty you couldnt chopper it out- heaps meat for the both of ya?
Being pushed for time with the sun setting and the bush edge right in front of where we set up we didn't want to take any more chances. We would have tried to get closer if it was possible 👍
@ocean view! Fiordland has broken many man mentally and physically! Half the ballot winners wouldn't have even attempted what these boys achieved! Never mind the quantity of gear, km covered and weight they carried to navigate that country to get back out safely. Sadly sometimes its the way it goes...
Not a waist. A waist would be if guys like this could not go into that wilderness and that the Deer are shot by helicopter as a pest. This is some of the most extreme hunting available in the world and has been kept as such by people like these guys
