  • In our first vlog from Japan we spend a day at Fuji-Q Highland, an amusement park located in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi that opened in 1968. The park is located close to Mount Fuji and offers amazing views from its 7 roller coasters. The park is also home to some fantastic scare attractions including the outstanding Haunted Hospital, one of the longest scare mazes in the world. Fuji-Q Highland also features many family attractions such as Thomas Land, a flying theatre, various water rides and much more. In this vlog we explore the park for our first visit along with sharing our reviews from the fantastic variety of attractions at the park.

Yes, I've been waiting for this one! I'm glad you had a good time at old Fuji-Q, it's one of my personal faves that I've been to! The park can be a great experience, you just have to know how to go about things so that you don't spend 2+ hours waiting in line for each coaster! Loved the vlog, Fujiyama is terribly underrated imho! I'm gonna have to return here at some point in the next few years!

After watching this video makes me want to go there now! Maybe in the future though.
You make me smile Shawn you make me relax every time I've had a stressful day this helps me to calm down.

I know this trip was a long time ago and maybe someone told you by now. "Ejanaika" roughly means "I don't care, right?" or "Do I still care?" It can also mean "Isn't it great", but a Japanese friend told me it's more akin to the former two. It's meant to describe the utter urge to completely lose your composure on the ride, especially facial composure. Fun little detail!

What strikes me, since I am Dutch and we use to look at those kind of things, is that you don't see one piece of paper on the ground, THAT clean!!. It is that I suffer from severe fear of flying, otherwise this would be my number 1 park on my bucket list, over ANY American park, not only because of the attractions, but also because I think that Japanese people are fantastically friendly and nice people once you learned a little yourself about their traditions and customs………..really REALLY great vlog, I absolutely enjoyed it......well done mates and a BIG thumbs up!!

Fuji-Q really is good and Eejanaika really IS as good as they're saying (if not better!) - I was in the back row and was very pleased how comfortable it was. I've never ridden X2 so I can't compare directly. I liked Eejanaika so much I bought my photo, even though I look like a total imbecile in it.
I got to Fuji-Q in early June this year, didn't get to ride as many things as I'd hoped (got there about lunchtime on a lovely sunny Saturday, almost all the priority tickets had sold out, and had to wait probably 2 hours each for Eejanaika and Fujiyama - got a priority for Takabisha though). I absolutely have to get back to Japan and get back to Fuji-Q. No Dodonpa for me either.
The views around the park are truly stellar. View out to Mount Fuji from the lift hill of Fujiyama is permanently etched in to my brain as my favourite lift hill ever - I got really great weather.
tl;dr: Eejanaika (ee-jah-nai-ka) is truly 11-out-of-10 excellent and those fastpass tickets are genuinely a must-have.

Great vid Shawn as always. Glad you had express and ops weren’t too bad. I was gutted when I was there in 2015 - I couldn’t get express when I arrived as it was severely limited and had all gone. I went straight to Eejanaika and queued for 4.5hrs yes 4.5 HOURS! It was an incredible experience and it’s in my top 5 coasters. Ops were appalling though giving people lockers on the station platform with trains going out min every 10 min sometimes 13 min. Shocking. I only got on one other ride - Dodonpa which was about 2 hr queue. Fujiyama was closed 😤. Amazing to get the Eejanaika credit but honestly on a week trip to Japan (6 whole days there) it felt like a wasted day. I really wish I’d got to Parque Espana to get on Pyrenees B&M invert as it’s a really unique layout and B&M are my absolute fav but my Fuji Q experience made me worry and I couldn’t convince my trip partner to “waste” another day on coasters! I did however get on Thunder Dolphin in Tokyo in the dark which was pretty cool. Will have to head back for 2 weeks and do all the parks when I’m rich and have endless time!
    Thanks again!

I imagine the kicker wheel on the loop is actually a trim brake, rather than a small launch. The force at the bottom of the loop could be very strong I think and they need that trim at the top.

If you can say "Aikenaikeneyekennenn" then I'm sure you can have a go at these ones too! :-D That 4-D looks interesting, especially when you said it was a smoother ride than X-2. I have to admit, I'm not the hugest fan of X-2. I've yet to have a comfortable ride on it; the restraints have never fit me right, they're either far too open so I feel like I'm going to fall out, or painfully tight so I've never been able to concentrate on enjoying the ride. I'd love to give it a try!

Shawn, I just watched your Fuji-Q Highland blog. You don't miss anything, do you? I'm not sure what your day job is but I believe you'd probably make one hell of a mechanical engineer. That wheel you noticed on Do-Dodonpa is not technically a "kicker' cause the train has far more energy than required to clear the loop. Actually it's there to boost the train through the inversion. It's quite exhilarating really, sort of like a mini second I launch mid loop. Eejanaika was down for me my visit and Do-Dodonpa was down for yous. You need to ride that coaster friend. Judging by your reaction to 'SUPERMAN: Escape From Krypton' MM, I believe you'd love Do-Dodonpa, be sure to be hydrated if it's a hot day, black-out is a common occurrence.

Man Japan have some amazing theme parks too
Here are some advices if you want to go to Japan next time and do the parks
Here are the parks that you must visit in Japan(I’m not forcing you to go to any of those parks, this are just advices if you want to go to Japan):
Benyland(Sendai,Miyagi):this is a fun park if you want to visit
It got some nice staff, nice food, nice atmosphere and 4 great roller coasters(cork screw, aero 5;yagiyama cyclone and jet coaster)
Brazilian park washuzan highland(Kurashiki,Okayama):not the best one but still fun
There food is good, nice staff and a solid line up of attractions and roller coasters(ultra twister, star jet and Chiluba coaster(3))
    Greenland(Arao,Kumamoto):this park is so fun
Nice theming and touches, nice staff and many attractions and roller coaster(Milky Way,gao, ultra twister megatron and more)
Hamanako pal pal(Hamamatsu,Shizuoka):not the best one either but still a fun one
