An excellent video for the new carver. Well explained in a patient manner. Merry Christmas!
Your video tutorials are some the best on RUclips. I like the way you repeat skills from project to project. Thanks.
Nice tutorial! I love those Santa hats.
Thank you so much for the lessons! I hope you continue to make videos, even if it’s just you carving. I love your style and your instruction is very easy to pick up and follow. The fact you have taught classes is very apparent😂 Merry Christmas🎄
Nice carving. I’ll do a few of these. Thank you
I just finished my first try at your Santa hat. Thank you for your great tutorials. i'm off to make more.
Cool looking hats
Merry Christmas! I enjoyed this!
tks for this will try today
Great tutorial thanks!
Very good…..
Nice! Wood boogers be damned!
Just tuned in and saw right away that you're wearing a glove....🤜🤛
Always!
Absolute must - especially for these small carvings.
Another great video! How long and wide is your knife? Would love to get one like it..
Hi Ed- I also responded over on Facebook with a little more detail. This is a 1.75 inch Talon blade from Deep Holler Knives. I got it at Mountain Woodcarvers, though their stock is constantly rotating.
I would like to do this in a bigger size like 11/4x 11/4 or 11/2 x11/2 would the height be the same or would I need to go taller?
Yes. To keep it proportionally the same, a 1 1/4 inch square block would be 1 7/8 tall. A 1 1/2 square block would be 2 1/4 inches tall.
@dywoodcarving thank you so much! I really suck at math! And thank you for the great videos, keep'em coming!
Is your glove an ordinary gardening glove or is it special one for knifework?
They are cut resistant gloves with a kevlar weave. There is a link to them in the description and I have another video with more info on gloves if you are interested.
Are you on face book? I would like to send you a picture of the nine I have finished. I have blanks for 14 more I have to get done. Obviously they wont be done by Christmas.
Yes, you can find me on Facebook at facebook.com/dywoodcarving
Don’t speed it up!
