What have the gods wrought?! I just discovered Placebo last night at the age of 60 when this song showed up in my mix. Now, granted I was a wee high but I don't think it accounted that much for how I was smacked big while this played in my headphones. Looking at the description, I saw the small view & thumbs up count + "4 mo ago," so was like, Nice! I'm hearing the beginnings of this new band. And wow, they've really nailed down that 80's/90's post-punk sound. I thumb'd em up which threw more of their songs into my mix & each one I loved. I played "I Know" over and over for a half-hour. It was only later when I googled them that I was shocked to find they've been around almost 30 years! I stayed up till 2 a.m. catching up on their music and listened to their 2022 release. Amazing. And in that time, I've theorized why I didn't know of them when they were new. Now as a rabid music-lover, I have always sought out new musicians, yes 60's and 70's music is the bomb blah blah blah. Free love & drugs & flower power music along with war protest songs and the incomparable rock lords like Led Zep, et al, will always have a special place in my heart, but I want more more more! There are always creative humans out there doing wondrous things with those 12 notes in the scale. When I was 12, the Ramones threw themselves at us in 1975 and I dove right in there. Loved punk. But when the 80's morphed into this decade of disco and smoothness and over-synthesized sounds, it really repelled me. And a lot of bands were moving into what was eventually called post-punk, some I liked such as the Cure, but others went too far into schmaltz. Besides, my station was WXRT in Chicago and they played, seriously, only the best of the best music and never (in that day, before they were bought by CBS) anything overly commercial, therefore rarely anything in the top 20. For whatever other reasons, Placebo didn't fit their bill because I KNOW I have never heard Placebo till now. But at last, I've been gifted with the music of these talented people who happily are still creating new sounds. All's well that ends well.

I know, you love the song but not the singer
I know, you′ve got me wrapped around your finger
I know, you want the sin without the sinner
    I know
    I know
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
I know, the last in line is always called a bastard
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
    I know
    I know

I know, you cut me loose in contradiction
I know, I'm all wrapped up in sweet attrition
I know, it′s asking for your benediction
    I know
    I know
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
I know, the last in line is always called a bastard
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
    I know
    I know
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
I know, the last in line is always called a bastard
I know, the past will catch you up as you run faster
    I know
    I know
