The sheer display of vulnerability in this song is just something else. Takes an incredible amount of courage, especially as a man, to write lyrics like this. It's why this band and Brian are so special.

It’s really refreshing to find a song that describes how you’re feeling so accurately. It makes you realise it’s normal. I expected a song like this to make me feel even worse but actually it just makes me feel understood, less alone.

The BEST song on the album. This is it. Numero Uno. I can just feel the pain seeping out of the pores of this song. Took me awhile to be able to listen to it without crying. Have you ever loved someone so much who just does not love you anymore and you feel like you just want to die? Well this is it. GOD, this song! I hope this gets released to US radio. The most brilliant song on a brilliant album.

I’ve been there, repeatedly because of the same person. It has destroyed the person who I was, it’s destroyed my passion, my will to live, my mojo, my hope, my everything. I’m on medication because of it. This song captures the anger, suicidal thoughts, sadness, disgust and desperation of betrayal and of a broken heart. Total masterpiece.

This is a painful cathartic song for me. Found someone I thought to be my soulmate. Went through horrible dark times and incredibly beautiful times together and he just broke off our engagement and it was like I was dead to him. We were both using and were drawn to each other like fire so the chorus cuts me up because it's the exact feeling that haunts behind my eyes every day and night of my life since.

+Avoraskela This comment is from ten months ago, so how are you doing now? Healing from the breakup? Not still using, I hope? Your comment caught my attention because your description of your relationship sounded just like the beginning of my relationship with my husband. Both using, madly in love with each other (he moved halfway across the US to be with me)... and of course it eventually turned into a nightmare because of the drugs, and I had to leave to get clean and away from that lifestyle. It was a painful two years living apart, constantly worrying about him overdosing, getting arrested, getting robbed, etc. However, thankfully, he finally got his shit together too, and we eventually moved back in together. Now we've been clean for ten years (me) and eight years (him). Of course our relationship isn't perfect, but life is so much better than I ever could have imagined. After 15 years together (been together since I was 17), some of that early fire fades, but there is still plenty of love, and it's a more healthy relationship now that we had time apart to work on ourselves. I truly hope that you find a relationship like that- healthy and full of love. Maybe you already have by now. 😊 Stay clean and you can have a fantastic relationship and life!

      @EmmieeTV 7 лет назад +9

jenromano19 Thank you for your lovely reply. It's nice to hear it worked out well for you guys. Everyone told me that rule #1 was never date another junkie because you'll end up destroying each other and I guess for us that was true.
I'm clean, but from what I understand he's still not. We're not in touch anymore because our priorities meant we were no longer good for each other. That's fine. Sometimes that happens.
It sounds like you two must have a great bond going through so much and supporting one another. :) All the best to the both of you.

For sheer, raw, unadulterated, soul-searing power, this is their best song since 'Blind' from Meds. The soaring heights Brian's voice reaches when he sings "Want you so bad I can taste it" resonates through my soul. It's challenging 'The Never-Ending Why' for the position of my FAVOURITE Placebo song.

Reading your comment, I remember having read an interview in which Brian states that one of the books that mostly reflected his teenage years was "The Catcher In The Rye", especially, he was impressed by the fact that the young Caulfield tried every time to call the girl he wanted to speak to, but he never succeded in that, and he remains with this unsatisfied desire. :)

    "Exit Wounds"
In the arms of another who doesn't mean anything to you
    There's nothing much to discover
Does he shake, Does he shiver as he sidles up to you
Like I did in my time?
As you wake does he smother you in kisses long and true?
Does he even think to bother?
And at night under covers as he's sliding into you,
Does it set your sweat on fire?
Want you so bad I can taste it,
but you're nowhere to be found.
I'll take a drug to replace it,
or put me in the ground.
In the arms of another who doesn't mean anything to you,
do you lose yourself in wonder?
If I could, I would hover while he's making love to you
Make it rain as I cry...
Want you so bad I can taste it,
but you're nowhere to be found.
I'll take a drug to replace it,
or put me in the ground
Want you so bad I can taste it,

I remember I discovered this song while I was at my ex's place while we were still together. I loved it back then but nothing special. Now this song means a whole new world to me.

This is my favorite song of the new CD! It is so, so beautiful, and in the lyrics I can feel the pain every time that I listened to it. And this part "If I could, I would hover while he's making love to you. Make it rain as I cry." Is so poetic, so wonderful, I feel it. Thank you for doing your music.

Want you so bad I can taste it,
but you're nowhere to be found.
I'll take a drug to replace it,
or put me in the ground
Put me in the ground [x3]

Love this song so much. My favourite from the album. Can't get over how amazing the songs on this album sound. They seem very honest and extremely relatable. This one breaks my heart every time especially the line "If I could I would hover while he's making love to you make it rain as I cried."
