Oh, I loved this. I enjoyed Fernwood Tonight, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, Car 54, and On The Television. I'm 33 now, and recall fondly this network when it was good.
Watching all these old Nick at Nite commercials brings back so many memories. I remember watching Nick at Nite to see all my favorite classic shows before going to bed. Sometimes, I'd wake up in the middle of the night and sneak into the living room at 3:00 AM to watch them. Now, there's nothing worth watching on Nick at Nite. Very sad.
Oh man! Thanks for putting these station breaks on! They weren't commercials, exactly...more like self promotion. But, they were fun in and of themselves! I was a Nick at Nite fan since it got started. My dad used to let me stay up late to watch his old favorite shows with him. I was 5 or 6 back in the 80's-- but it was the 90s when I got really hooked! I was like Toby McGuire's character in Pleasantville. That Block Party Summer at 3:40 (and Comedy Central) sucked me in when I was 13-14! I even had the magazine! I miss these little show breaks...Better than the ads/commercials they have now. *TOTAL NERDERY*
Watching this at night with my windows open it's not like the way it was back than staying at my grandmas sleeping over in the summer with the windows open. Loved it
Nice to know I'm not the only one who not only misses Nick at Nite's CLASSIC TV, but also the cute little jingles that aired during the commercials. I also loved the shorts, like "How To Be Swell" and "The Adventures of Milkman." And of course, the classic shows like The Lucy Show, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Patty Duke, and Dobie Gillis. Nick at Nite is unrecognizable today. Come on, George Lopez and Everybody Hate Chris?! Those shows are still new!
*Sobs uncontrollably* I miss Block Party Summer! I was nine when I watched my first one, and it happens to be the one from this vid, so it must have 1995. "Welcome Back, Kotter" is still my favorite show to this day!
No wonder I'm suffering from nostalgia. It's not because of these old shows, but the fact that they actually cared about bringing them back on the air alongside the newer ones is what I miss most about 1990s TV. Cartoon Network, Nick-at-Nite, TV Land, Disney Channel, they all went downhill.
You look at this and a good majority on the shows shown in these commercials aren't even on the air anymore. Such a shame too, since they used to put effort into making Nick-at-Nite a good block for adults.
How I miss the old Nick at Nite and TV Land! Back in the 90s when I was a little girl and got sick my mother would stay up with me and and let me drink soda and watch this channel. That was a big deal for me, haha. Now that I'm an adult I look back at the past 20 years and realize how far downhill these channels have come. Where are the classics? Stuff that sits in the vault for 20-30 years? Where have those shows gone? Now they show reality shows and shows I can see on any other channel.
I want the old Nick at Nite blockparty back. You know the one with Lucy, Bewitched,Dragnet, The Bob Newhart Show, I Love Lucy, The Munsters, I Dream of Jeanie, Welcome Back Kotter, The Wonder Years. And Saturday Night it was the Lucy comedy hour with just her and Ethel. Classic Nick at Nite Rules!
That was really entertaining. I'm still looking for that dancing squirrel though. I've seriously been searching for over 2 years now! If anyone has it, PLEASE post it!
i use to watch this all the time when i was young, between 9 and 13...me and my dad would sit and watch it,and i think why i liked it so much was because it was a way for my childhood to connect with my dads childhood.our favorites were taxi, lucy, dick van dyke beverly hillbillies and of course the adventures of superman!! :-)
I applaud you for posting your opinion. Nick at Nite was once creative, but fell victim to the violent currents and is now a shell of it's former self. It's just not good today.
Back when Nick at Nite was a block for adults, these days it's more for kids and the reason for that is because Nick at Nite was originally run by TV Land, now it's run by Nickelodeon. If the block will only have 90s shows, maybe they can add old Nickelodeon shows.
Back in the day in the summer i use to leave my window open aand watch this on my Tv in my room Those were the good old days . and I hear music from spongebob
I can't believe what the channel has turned into now. When I first got satellite, Nick at Nite offered a variety of good shows spanning from the 1950s to the late 1970s. Now, it's pretty much endless reruns of Fresh Prince and George Lopez, all night, every night.
its weird growing up nick @ nite had shows from 20-40 years ago now it has shows from 5 years ago. although they jsut started showing Married with children and that started over 20 years ago. I like Goerge Lopez but i wish they showed a lot more older shows. I may of been a kid but i then but i actually loved watching mister Ed and I love Lucy with my mom at night. I also remember when wonder years started i watched the whole marathon that week , never watched it before that.
what were those short skits they did on Nick at Nite right before a show came on? Where this guy in fast forward put together his living room and sat down to watch tv then some funny goofy stuff went on.. I used to love those hoping to find if anyone uploaded them.
You have to consider the intellectual property rights to using tv shows, then shows that have music tracks in them. Example: The show All That has a musical guest singer at the end of the shows and All That does air on TeenNick these days (Mid 2011). The music performance is cut off and commercials are extended.
@classicphile I agree on the DVDS and internet a little. But, it's not the same. I had fond memories of watching NIck at Nite with my father back in the 80's and 90's. Those were my best memories! RIP Dad.
In all fairness, David Caruso is (CSI Miami) one of a few actors working today that can stand up to repeated viewing via the Classic TV standard and qualify, his performances are sharp. Dean Cain's "Superman" and WB's "Smallville" benefit from stellar casting and work, also, as future classics. The biggest problem? No excellent promo commercials, like we have been watching here.
How come they sing Nick@Nite's 1989 rerun countdown and then you can see Casey Casem a few moments later standing in front of "Nick@Nite's 1991 Rerun Countdown?"
does anyone remember the brady bunch commercials about the lost brady??? it was a red head named phoebe and she was the fourth sister....anyways i've been trying to find a video for it for quite awhile and if anyone knows where i could watch it please let me know
now all we have is antenna tv. its not as good as nick at nite was but its really the only channel we have here that shows classics like nick at nite did. I guess at this point i'll take what I can get lol
I used to love watching I Dream Of Genie, Bewitched and Get Smart. Why don't they play the classics anymore? Every TV channel has gone down the tubes. Disney, the Family Channel and AMC. I actually remember the days when AMC used to actually play America movie classics and not contemporary crap.
@CelticVictory -and the new years count down was great too. I actually loved when it took over nickelodeon and noick at nite was on all day. I was probably the only kid who actually liked nick at nite better than nickelodeon.
Ahhhh, I remember the Block Party Summers. I wish Nick at Nite was back. TV Land is okay but some of the newer shows they have are just not as good as the old classics.
Now the only shows to watch on Nick at Nite now are "The George Lopez Show", "Home Improvement", "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", "Roseanne" and "Full House".
Problem with tvland and Nick is they show 2-3+ hr long blocks of the same show. If they had more variety on using 1 hr long blocks it would be better. Hard to say though what they still own rights to for programming
i remember this shit from staying up late at grandma's house when i was like, 10 years old. Nick at Nite was the shit....now they pretty much play nothing but Fresh Prince (nothing against Fresh Prince but enough is enough)
Better than the`poop that makes up TV today, man. Cheesy? Maybe, but cheese makes many things taste better. Entertaining? You better believe it. Long lasting? Jack Benny, Dick Van Dyke, Lucille Ball, Don Adams, and Larry Storch set a gold standard that is hard to match now and their work still holds up decades later. They actually made audiences WANT to watch. THAT and many other reasons are why these are CLASSIC TV. Good? The template for what we see now -- SOMEONE had to be first
0:46 The Do It Yourself Sitcom Search....In which real viewers lives were turned into sitcoms....Hmmmm...doesn't that sound like something that's popular NOW that was a total FAIL back then?! Man, I miss the old Nick at Nite.
@mooky9669 yep tv land have some classic tv but they put nowadays show like hot in cleveland , evrybody loves raymond and retired at 35. p.s. we want the old nick at nite back
@trapadoored I liked Double Dare and all the old games shows. Although, I didn't like Eureka's Castle. I miss Nickleodeon, but Mr. Wizard was before my time.
The new Nick @ Nite sucks! They don;t even have any shows that can be considered "classic" or even "old". They oldest show they have is "Cosby", and that's only 24 years old! Even TV:and isn't the same. Too many new shows, like CSI ans Scrubs. Those aren't really old at all!
TV Land is the disappearing network! "Roseanne", is in heavy rotation I like "Roseanne" but about time they get back to the beginning of the series by the third week Darlene is wearing all black.
what ever happend to murphy brown a may get a minus but it was on N@N then it to tv land where it was at * o'clock then it got moved to late night/ early morning time. where it went from ther is a mystery. all I know is that it went away to fast like other N@N and tv land will do here soon
Home Improvement would qualify in about 10 more years, Fresh Prince in 15, both casts did well and Will Smith does great work, but not yet. Also, no excellent promos for them, either
I think this whole "Reality TV' craze killed the atmosphere of what was left in having quality programming. Producers started pumping out shows full of people who can't act, and they behave like immature kids. We have too many channels these days, you would think there would be at least something out there for one guy to watch. I hear that Nick at Nite and TV Land are adding some more shows later. Guess what? They are from the 2000s, so they don't count as classics, period. Stupid people.
Nick at Nite sucks big time. Nickelodeon is in the same boat. They had so many good shows that you could learn and cherish from. Today, it's not the quality of the show that matters. It's the quantity, the profit that the television corporations earn and how much of an ass these people think they can show to the otherwise tiresome audience. We're seeing stuff now that insults our intelligence more than it's giving us a learning experience and appreciation like how it used to be years ago.
I was born in '88 but thanks to Nick at Nite, I'm fortunate enough to know what good tv was.
When a marathon was something special and they showed the episodes in order. Miss the good old days
Oh, I loved this. I enjoyed Fernwood Tonight, Rowan and Martin's Laugh In, Car 54, and On The Television. I'm 33 now, and recall fondly this network when it was good.
I totally did the same thing!!! I loved it. It was cool to see how different life was back then.
Very sad.
Im nostalgic for my old nostalgia!
Oh man! Thanks for putting these station breaks on! They weren't commercials, exactly...more like self promotion. But, they were fun in and of themselves! I was the exact same way.
I miss this Nick @ Nite so much.
They were going for an authenticity that is rarely seen, having music match the "feel" of the time period of the shows, I do indeed agree with you.
Watching this at night with my windows open it's not like the way it was back than staying at my grandmas sleeping over in the summer with the windows open. Loved it
Jenny Marie I remember spending weeks in the summer at my grandmother's house and watching Nick at Night with her! Feeling nostalgic and missing her!
Thanks for adding. I really miss the old Nick at Nite.
I miss the 90's I loved watching nick at nite back in the day😫😫😫😫 beam me back 90's
Nice to know I'm not the only one who not only misses Nick at Nite's CLASSIC TV, but also the cute little jingles that aired during the commercials. Those were the days!
Thank you so much for uploading this great video! God I miss 90s Nick at Nite! Such clever and beautifully done promotional commercials.
i miss this :(
*Sobs uncontrollably* I miss Block Party Summer! I was nine when I watched my first one, and it happens to be the one from this vid, so it must have 1995. "Welcome Back, Kotter" is still my favorite show to this day!
Anyone remember when they used to do "Build Your Own Sunday" with I Love Lucy on Sunday nights back around the year 2000?
Watching Nick at. Nite right now with my windows open. I love that feeling
Yes. Some people like comfort food. I like comfort TV. PLEASE BRING IT ALL BACK.
I miss old Nick at Night
R.I.P. Nick at Nite....you will be missed
You look at this and a good majority on the shows shown in these commercials aren't even on the air anymore.
Such a shame too, since they used to put effort into making Nick-at-Nite a good block for adults.
I remember these commercials!
Oh, Nick at Nite, I loved you so much when I was a child. Now, you're terrible. You break my heart.
Yes, that would make so much sense. Then, I'd have something to watch!
Back in the day in the summer i use to leave my window open aand watch this on my Tv in my room Those were the good old days . and I hear music from spongebob
me too!

Sometimes I miss when the logo consisted of "Nick at Nite" instead of Nick @ Nite."
I remember the green tinting for St. Patrick's day! After awhile you didn't notice it.
Lucy Tuesdays. Good times! I miss it
I love Dixie the Nike at Nite Pixie. I'd like to tell her, "I'll watch Nick at Nite, but only if you sit with me on the couch to watch it." LOL
its weird growing up nick @ nite had shows from 20-40 years ago now it has shows from 5 years ago. although they jsut started showing Married with children and that started over 20 years ago. I like Goerge Lopez but i wish they showed a lot more older shows.
I may of been a kid but i then but i actually loved watching mister Ed and I love Lucy with my mom at night. I also remember when wonder years started i watched the whole marathon that week , never watched it before that.
Tvland came out when I was 11, but now I'm 24.
Yeah I agree bro. I loved the Munsters and the Addams Family, Gilligan's Island, and I'd like to see Mr. Ed.
i used to watch i love lucy and the other shows that came on
what were those short skits they did on Nick at Nite right before a show came on? Where this guy in fast forward put together his living room and sat down to watch tv then some funny goofy stuff went on.. I used to love those hoping to find if anyone uploaded them.
Watching nick at nite right now with the last quarter moon. 🌗
I agree.
I remember way back when everything on the channel was black and white. Even some of the commercials..

yes, yes, i know =p but thats exactaly when it down hill when there was nothing but fresh prince with the orenge sphear
How come they sing Nick@Nite's 1989 rerun countdown and then you can see Casey Casem a few moments later standing in front of "Nick@Nite's 1991 Rerun Countdown?"
@SEATTLELOVER4 I really miss Summer Block Party, I used to look forward to that every summer.
Go watch TV land which was started because of Nick at Nite
they used to have growing pains too. I wonder why they took them both off?
the woman singing sounds kind of like Connie Francis. Anyone agree?
does anyone remember the brady bunch commercials about the lost brady??? it was a red head named phoebe and she was the fourth sister....anyways i've been trying to find a video for it for quite awhile and if anyone knows where i could watch it please let me know
now all we have is antenna tv. its not as good as nick at nite was but its really the only channel we have here that shows classics like nick at nite did. I guess at this point i'll take what I can get lol
Even nick at nite was better in the 90's
The "Do-It-Yourself Sitcom Search" at 0:44 is rather ironic now. Jon and Kate, The Hills, anyone?
I'd like to see the one that went something like, Whether you like color or black and white...I think it had some lady water skiing in the commercial.
Where's the promo the pants that ate Fred mertz?
0:16 I like the sound of Radio 1 Jingles.
I'm actually watching Nick at Nite right now bit it's not the same as the 90's with the windows open. The view of super moon
Always had a thing for Trixie the Pixie.
@CelticVictory
-and the new years count down was great too. I actually loved when it took over nickelodeon and noick at nite was on all day. I was probably the only kid who actually liked nick at nite better than nickelodeon.
Classic Nick at Nite commercials of the 90's - Part 1 / Sesame Workshop Logo
Ahhhh, I remember the Block Party Summers. I wish Nick at Nite was back. TV Land is okay but some of the newer shows they have are just not as good as the old classics.
Now the only shows to watch on Nick at Nite now are "The George Lopez Show", "Home Improvement", "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air", "Roseanne" and "Full House".
@amberlanglois No kidding, they don't even air the summer block party anymore.
upload them

@AnuRaSet
they didn't any anything over 20 years old anymore

@trapadoored I liked Double Dare and all the old games shows. Although, I didn't like Eureka's Castle. I miss Nickleodeon, but Mr. Wizard was before my time.
@trapadoored I'm sure you were not the only one.

i hate the new nick at nite i want the old one from the 80's back when i was little it was much cooler back then!
Back when nick at nite was worth watching. Now it should be called crap at nite because that is what they show. crap.
What I don't understand is how Nick-at-Nite turned to shit all of a sudden.
This feels as if I was watching something from 30 years ago.
The new Nick @ Nite sucks! They don;t even have any shows that can be considered "classic" or even "old". They oldest show they have is "Cosby", and that's only 24 years old! Even TV:and isn't the same. Too many new shows, like CSI ans Scrubs. Those aren't really old at all!

fresh prince i can see but gorge lopez no the other 2 you great
@u2ups OK- Dixie the Pixie. Either way, I had a crush on her.
all they need to do is make a new channle for these shows then they could have their cake and eat it two
true true but what i'm saying is that they can't a series on for then a month. execpt the really crapy ones.
Home Improvement would qualify in about 10 more years, Fresh Prince in 15, both casts did well and Will Smith does great work, but not yet. Also, no excellent promos for them, either
