      ....
It is as though primal man had the habit, when he came in contact with fire,
of satisfying an infantile desire connected with it, by putting it out with a stream of his
urine. The legends that we possess leave no doubt about the originally phallic view taken
of tongues of flame as they shoot, upwards. Putting out fire by micturating - a theme to
which modern giants, Gulliver in Lilliput and Rabelais’ Gargantua, still hark back - was
therefore a kind of sexual act with a male, an enjoyment of sexual potency in a
homosexual competition. The first person to renounce this desire and spare the fire was
able to carry it off with him and subdue it to his own use. By damping down the fire of his
own sexual excitation, he had tamed the natural force of fire. This great cultural conquest
was thus the reward for his renunciation of instinct. Further, it is as though woman had
been appointed guardian of the fire which was held captive on the domestic hearth,
because her anatomy made it impossible for her to yield to the temptation of this desire. It
is remarkable, too, how regularly analytic experience testifies to the connection between
      ambition, fire and urethral erotism.

I dont think its because people want a father figure.
      Hear me out:
In Freudian psychosexual Development there is a stage in wich kids form a rivalry with their same sex parent.
Basically the kids want to replace their same sex parent (oedipus complex, electra complex) and will act very similar to them.
If the kid doesnt learn that replacing the parent isnt possible or doesnt try to or has any other complication in the process then it will have a fixation for its life.
      For boys the Oedipus complex.
So what i am going at is, when boys have a difficult life with their father they will rather search for a 'motherly woman' then again a 'dominant father' wich they despise or are afraid of.
However Sexual development is harshly critiziced today and is really old, but it comes from the guy who invented Psychoanalysis.

In my case, growing up with two sisters and a mother, and for a time considering myself a trans woman, my discomfort around women didn't stem from a fear in the regular sense, but an almost reverence toward women. This isn't to say I put them on a pedestal above men, but that I revered the nature of the divine feminine displayed through them, something I at the time (and am having trouble getting over) I envied them for. My attempt at transitioning to a woman stemmed from my desire to embody that divine feminine essence the women in my life so effortlessly exuded.

I know this sounds bigoted, but it is a natural thought pattern to me. I have some counterarguments for you:
    1. Wanting a lover who has similar interests to your own isn't a bad thing. If you do find someone like it means you'll both have a great time pursuing your hobbies together. The only downside is when people start pretending to be someone they're not to try and fit into a narrow archetype that doesn't really suit them.
    2. Actual tomboys sometimes feel like they cannot get a boyfriend because they feel like no man would them not being "feminine enough" while being torn between choosing to compromise their own hobbies or being lonely. This meme would be a giant relief to them because it implies they are desirable as they usually are, therefore they wouldn't need to change themselves.
Your arguments in this video are valid, but you didn't mention any potential beneficial traits to this meme, when it seems to me like you should have.

I always thought that the tomboy was the desire of the egos masculine qualities in the opposite, the same way the soft boi/femmeboy, guys who wear makeup and skirts has become a desire for girls.

So I guess the moral of the story is to get outside, get friends, and live life? Because the tomboy gf sounds like your average girl who just works out and plays Vidya.

I played outside as a kid in a semi-dangerous neighborhood. There was an abandoned house with an escaped convict that lived in the basement and made jewelry for people for money. BTW, I am 25... I feel anyone who wasn't a kid before smartphones came out missed out on a large part of childhood. I played a large amount of video games AND played outside....playing outside does not happen as much now...not unsupervised like it was with me.

I've gone back and forth on my opinion of your videos so many times, but I always come away learning something. I love that you dive into topics around gender and sexuality from a psychoanalytic perspective without turning towards prescriptive claims and pathologization of diversity. It's very rare for me as a femboy to feel included in this kind of discourse, but your bit at the end about individuation really hit for me personally. I'm not used to feeling acknowledged and empowered by psychoanalytic ideas. Bravo

Hey man. I love your content and I watch everything you post. It gave me a different perspective on many things. One thing I've observed is that I really love pausing and reading everything that is written in the meme. But now that you put it small in the corner, I couldn't read some of them... And I liked more when you had your voice in the background and the meme on full screen. Is not that I dislike to see you talking don't get me wrong haha, but it is distracting me because I see that you are reading, but when your voice was in the background I could focus better on the content you were transmitting. I'm not saying you should do it different, just that this has been my experience.

Tomboys fill a space for those who had neither a gf nor a friend in high school/growing up. This is why she also fills the role of the perfect gf of the improover. He still feels the sadness of his lowest point and he desperately wants this upbeat, almost bro-like female to help pull him fully from the muck. He had no friends who hit the gym with him, nobody to spot him and encourage him to make that new personal record. When that person enters his life and is, at the same time, the object of his affection, the encouragement means so much more and he works harder because of it. The nature of this relationship means that he not only strives for improvement for his own gain but also for the purpose of keeping this person in his life. Bottom line muscle tomboy gf makes you want to live it. Kyriakos Grizzly has a tomboy gf, that's why he's able to lift close to 2000lbs.

Great video! I have noticed that when it comes to imagining my ideal Tomboy GF they not only possess traits I lack but also traits that are probably what one might consider my own more "positive" qualities.
Guess if anything this would be a sign of my need to properly individuate and look within.
Maybe then I can go from desiring an Archtype to someone who's with another that dances with their animus.
First I need to learn to dance...

I must admit, as a child, I had somewhat of a crush for Haruka Tenoh/Sailor Uranus. (Who wears short hair, boys clothing, drives fast cars etc. in the series.) Strangely enough, the first girl who later kissed me (and allowed me my first sexual experience I did not pay for) looked extremely similar to Haruka.
At the same time I watched Sailor Moon, I became a huge fan of fighting games. Especially from SNK and Capcom. One of my favourite characters was Nakoruru, a somewhat pagan huntres figure.

I remember this half-japanese girl i became friends with during my years in college, and yes she act's like a tomboy as well. Yes.. It sounds like it came from an anime but i kid you not unfortunately. But basically she forcefully befriended me, though i was reluctant at first but eventually she succeeded and we became close friends for 2 years to a point that our classmates has mistaken us for being a couples, though i hated that view they had unfortunately there's other dudes there who grew a liking to her and pretty much bugged her to become their girlfriend though she always rejected them as she has this idea that she doesn't want a boyfriend nor planning one until she dies. Fitting for the Anima Archetype indeed. And because of that i didn't have as much friends since they resented me for being close to her. Unfortunately however i fucking fell for her in the end, the problem is (Yes i know i would sounds like a fucking stereotypical anime character but i seriously kid you not) I also never really had interest in any girls but this one caught me. When we were at a sort've date i for the first time on my life confessed only to be rejected lmao..
Don't go for the bad ending route kings.

I was too autistic to notice the signs, and I never really wanted to date until I was out of college. Now that I want to date I found out its so hard online dating in the south. Anyone with the same hobbies as me is either obese or a literal 10/10 and I haven't found anyone inbetween that was close to the 6/10 tomboy gf from high school. Regret
