    Speed isnt a requirement to make meaningful soulful music, but when you can play that fast and clean you have mastered the instrument and have a vocabulary that most players will never achieve. Playing in time, hitting all the right notes, landing on the right notes, musical phrasing....when you can jam like Guthrie, you are really special.

    This gentleman was abit of trouble for his mother coming out to take his first breath. Finally figuered why he took longer than most of us to be delivered. Thats cuz he wouldnt let go of the baby guitar he had in his baby hands and to this day is still holding on to one. God bless his mother. It's a joke but it has some truth to it. I'm pushing 70 yrs old and still am blessed with great vision,hearing with a loving heart and bigger ears then Abe Lincoln. Truly blessed by our creator hoping to make it to 100 for that's how we're designed believe it or not. Since I was pre-puberty Ive always Loved music of many types. Remember in the 60s seeing to many bands and musicians of all types I couldnt.count them all today. Like Jimi Hendrix 3 times Cream fairwell concert. Zepplins first tour through California. The doors, iron butterfly, airplane Chuck Berry,Mayall and the list never stopped until tickets got $ 20 which was a burn. Seen so.many in jazz, blues, fusion, rock and roll,Soul, Symphonys, funk, oldies, surfer music, disco real country and old cowboy bands. Met afew of the great originals when it was real music not synthetic like some today. There's only a few great ones still able to perform live(rare) cuz too many have joined the band in the next world and to me God is the only conductor where everybody gets to play and there's no pay but Love. Anyway so far its been super fun and exciting music is the greatest art form just listen to the birds and the wind and the ways. Here before us and if egotistical humans don't destroy this paradise when human species disappears off the face of the earth and they will nature will still be playing her tunes. Mr. Jovan is in my opinion the greatest active guitarist living today. His versitility is the reason. Truly unique and I don't see anything but a gentleman who smokes that axe Hope he is playing at 100 years old God willing. He's the best alive today that I've seen and heard over my life hands down. He's a master of the guitar. His best is yet to come and its an honor to the music world thats he's alive playing and getting even better all the time. Just one old hipsters opinion. We're only important to ourselve seems to be alot of peoples lifestyle today. But when you can Love how you're making a living and make other people love how your doing it your way and it makes them happy then thats what being a fulfilled human being is all about. Having a positive effect on others is second to sharing Love with a humble spirit. His music he plays and his personality makes him a joy to be able to listen to. Wishing everyone LOVE PEACE AND HAPPINESS and be good to yourself you got the same chance as the next to make your life to 100 yrs. Lifes humbling because of the good we can do for others only making it good for us all. Peace out to all be free on the inside that makes us reflect a natural good example to the youth and those who really need a good feeling of selfworth so it helps the human race

      +Adam Pennington He's in the zone, I have watched many of his vids, and he is not the average player, of ok, here is the scale we're in and I will repeat that ah gozillion times, lol, he stretched out and got a funky combination there for sure, and on this one, he just lets loose, all of these folks commenting on its not this or that, who the heck cares? I mean really? It's HIS style, and I think its pretty cool:)

    • @someday777777

      i dont know how to explain, well you surely noticed he uses the pick to hit the A string and middle finger to hit the G string, but on the left hand he switches roles if i may say , he starts with certain fingers on the A string and you will notice that one of them jumps at the end on the G string, ending with that bend , im sure i did not help much lol;

    • @ccs624
      @ccs624 6 лет назад +1

      Rhythmic displacement. He repeats a fixed number of notes in a group against a fixed time frame. If you a play a group of 3 notes in a triplet time frame, the first note in that group will always land on the beat. But if you played a group of 4 notes in a sextuplet time frame, then the first note in that group will only synchronise with the beat every four beats. This is what creates that “shifting” effect, because the first note in the group starts on the beat, then it drifts away, and eventually resyncs again.

    Albert King never played a lick that was any longer than 4 or 5 notes. Sounds nothing like Albert King he was a feel player/minimalist, not a shredder. Not saying anything bad about Guthrie, everybody relax, just saying that comparing/relating this to Albert King is asinine.

      @jpturbo98 10 лет назад +18

      I see your point,and you're right about Albert King's licks, but its not a solo on the style of Albert King, its a backing track on the style of Albert King with a solo on the style of Guthrie Govan. Just lettin ya know

    Guthrie Govan is without a doubt my favorite guitarist. I say that in the present tense because I really dig a lot of other players, but Guthrie just has that special something. I never get tired of watching these videos, the man has truly mastered his instrument. A lot of other players - Vai, Satriani to name a couple - are great, but after awhile I get bored with their playing, not with Guthrie - he always sounds refreshing. If you don't own Erotic Cakes - BUY IT! Cheers G
