  • In today's video we talk about saddlebags and the damage that they can cause when not properly installed or when preventative measures aren't taken to protect the components that come in contact with your saddlebags. Today's example is a 1998 Suzuki Bandit that I originally picked up as a parts bike for www.motopartssource.com. Upon further inspection of the bike, I noticed heavy wear on the rear fairings and exhaust that were hidden upon my initial inspection. The heavy wear is a result of long term use of saddlebags and no preventative measures were taken to prevent them from rubbing on the bike. If you plan on purchasing saddlebags for your motorcycle. Please do yourself a favor and take some preventative measures to assure your bike doesn't run into the same issues as this one. If you enjoyed this video or learned something. It was going to be a parts bike but I ended up having a change of heart and decided to sell it whole to someone who wanted to restore it. I have too many projects on my hands and this one had to go. But I can assure you that the bike is in good hands now under it’s new ownership. 🙂

For sure. But unfortunately that was the route that the previous owner took so he could have additional space for groceries since this was his only means of transportation. If anyone is thinking of running saddlebags on a sports bike. At least this shows some examples of why you shouldn’t.
