@@supposedly1-2 The only reason why Dave and his "associates" survived that encounter with Robert was Dave's wife and two little daughters being present. Otherwise he would have wiped them out and been on his way before they had even realized what had hit them.

One thing I love about this movie is the foreshadowing through the weather. In the beginning of the movie we see the news and how a storm announcement was made. The more we follow the story the closer the actual storm gets. As we reach this scene, the storm takes physical form and eventually starts throw leafs around. For the story it meant that the real killers got uncovered and this is the last moment before the storm (the war between Denzels character and his old squad) will break loose and consume everything and everyone near it.
I come back every couple of months just for this scene alone because I think the symbolism was so perfectly executed.

Love that it’s a saying of Denzel’s as well💯
His blocking and hand gestures are perfect.
He never turns his back on them and gives them the machine gun fingers.
Elegant manners.
Purely poetic
Denzel needs to trademark “see you at work” nobody says it better than him
I like how when Pedro’s character gives him the speech about how vets like him and his team have no future after the service, Denzel is completely unfazed. He doesn’t care what they do, he realizes the harsh truth of it, the only thing he cared about is that who they killed turned out to be a friend
Lowkey the other guy is also spitting some facts, good and evil is a made up concept its all just choices. Not saying what he did was right or justified but neither is Denzel's killings, what gives him the right to play God, as much as anyone else. Even if his morale's falls in line with our beliefs, does that make it right? Idk its an interesting perspective. At least he has a code of honour he follows. Its only when it affects people close to him or people he see's as vulnerable that its an issue.
@@yeahyeah4433 it is indeed quite an interesting monologue, and as I said, at that moment it seemed like McCall didn’t care about the sole fact of Susan’s assassination, more so the fact that it was his friend they killed. Honestly, I went into watching these movies as some mindless Hollywood action, but they got depth
I did enjoy that too. He knows this isn't a perfect world, he literally says it. These men fought with him in defense of their country... now they are just hired guns, which I imagine Denzel's character finds despicable... and yet the only sin he will kill them for is simple. "You killed my friend." Period.
@@yeahyeah4433 It's not an interesting perspective, it was him trying to justify all of the wrong shit he knew he was doing. But Denzel's character isn't trying to play god, he's not there because they're killing people, he's there because they killed his friend. That's it. His entire monologue about Good and Evil was him trying to justify what he did, to try and get out of the snake trap that he jumped right into by appealing to Denzels characters history hoping he'd see what he believed was reality.
But the reality was that Denzel doesn't care much that they assassinated anyone, he cares that it was Susan, so now he's getting revenge.
@@AinokeatoProductions actually, while Dave is *absolutely* trying to absolve himself of guilt, he is simultaneously *completely* correct. It's one of the best things about the movie.
Committing evil deeds isn't less evil if you drape the narrative in Stars and Stripes. That's a fiction people tell themselves. The blood and bodies are still there. And neither is Dave wrong to feel betrayed by his country for being hung out to dry after he dedicated his life to them.
And there is a certain amount of hypocrisy on the part of Susan, who was the beneficiary of the work of Dave, and kept her cushy life and government pay check but let Dave hang after she used him.
They are all evil people and none of them deserve to die less than the others. McCall does display a certain hypocrisy in assuming a righteous stance.
You just know films are great when you can watch the scenes over and over again.
You said it!

Everything is great about this scene. McCalls interaction with the kids, the mom and also the people whose day of reckoning has come. I didn't see it myself, I can see how most people could see it that way.
I think the purpose of this last scene with Denzel and Daves family is supposed to show the audience that Dave DOES in fact know right from wrong, he does have a conscience. Earlier in the kitchen Dave said there was no longer enemies just unfortunates (victims), there was no virtue, no sin, no right and wrong - which he knows is false based on his own opinions of being treated unfairly by the military (a form of victimization) and also suggesting he doesn't deserve to die for his sins (even though he kills people because of their sins).
So just after Robert tells the men he is going to kill each of them, Daves daughter runs into Roberts arms and Robert drives off with Daves family. Robert is messing with Daves emotions by doing this because Robert knows Dave is self centered and only cares about how he feels, so this probably enraged Dave.
Dave feels like crap because he knows it isn't right that Robert is about to unload the clip on all of them but is chillin with Daves family! Thats the point. Dave is a narcissist just like the other men. Their way of thinking makes absolutely no sense. They have no integrity or moral compass for the type of career their in where they represent "God and Country", as Dave said in the kitchen. They are psychotic and this movie showcases the mentality of many people in these types of organizations.
Just my opinion!
First Mac went to Dave's home, disarm Dave's Family with his humility and friendly demeanor, expose Dave being corrupt, met his now corrupt elite unit outside while continues to charm Dave's Family and sealed their fate by saying " See you at work."
That's brutal and prophetic.

That also really struck me. I was in Recon in The Corps for 12 years and had been thru all the spec ops national training that the U.S. Military had to offer (including but not limited to explosives/demolition school, Scout sniper school, Combat Diver School, Jump School, Ranger School, HILO parachute certification, HIHO parachute certification, Spec Ops Driver's School and Clandestine Feild Ops signal processing training). I was recruited by the CIA near the end of my last enlistment contract and offered a six figure contract where to use their words, I would be an off the books asset. I talked to a couple Force Recon Marines that I knew who had contact with former Force Recon Marines that had taken similar jobs and what they did was pretty much mirrored in this movie. They got names on a piece of paper with an associated intel package and everything else was done independently. Real James Bond stuff. i found it very intriguing but after a decade of humping in the field in The Corps I was really ready for an Engineering career (My Dad was an Aerospace Engineer out at The Cape and I had scored a perfect 800 on the math portion of my SAT's and had been accepted at Georgia Tech before I decided to join The Corps), so I declined and was off to Engineering College as a civilain.

I mean she didn't hear him call her name at all for who's at the damn door? 😂
Dunno... he'd have had to have known something was up when his counterpart didn't report in.
What was more chilling for me was the rustling of the leaves on the street 😂...like how he was going to sweep these guys away... unintended or not, brilliant.
I noticed that as well the sound seemed to be scraping loud on the words he says.
Dave made a good point at first. “Who said they were the enemy”.
"the mistake you made was that you killed my friend" Denzel makes the best point last.
Dave definitely had a point.
Had he not killed Robert’s friend, they’d likely still be alive doing what they do.
@@WMB6022 he could’ve killed anyone else but he decided to kill someone he cares about

Mac taught them everything they know. Just not everything HE knows. Moral of the story. Don't fuck with the teacher. They've forgotten more than you'll ever know 😏

What if you are also a teacher and on the same level? I am sure John Wick or Jack Reacher would be more than challenge.
@@vivi44A. McCall would die if he fought John Wick Dave's Jujitsu gave McCall a run for his money, and compared to John Wick's Jiu Jitsu, Dave's is a complete joke.
b. also sometimes the student surpasses the teacher, otherwise the quality of the art and skill would diminish every generation and guys with skills in modern day martial arts like McCall or Wick wouldn't exist in the first place, not all apprentices are equal in potential.

I don’t know why but Equalizer has to be one of the best movie I ever saw in my entire life of all good movies. This guy is such an incredible actor and the moment I saw a clip of Equalizer part 1 on RUclips I was immediately hooked. This guy is such an amazing actor I just never thought something would be this good until I saw it with my own eyes. Incredible simply incredible that words just can’t describe.
"See you at WORK. " That was the most gangsta statement in the entire movie.
Very under rated movie. Great dialogue.
Densely is probably the best actor in the world
Imo it's Daniel Day-Lewis. I just can't look away. Love Denzel thought too!
Never heard of him. Or her. Whoever Densley is.
Who is that?
Denzel always plays himself, is the same character over and over
Male actors, in the English speaking World; Daniel Day-Lewis, Liam Neeson, Russell Crowe & Christian Bale.
I have watched this movie countless times. Never gets old
The acting from everybody when he said "see you at work". Holy crap lol.
That was not only great it was hilarious at the same time.
Denzel is the hero of the movie but anyone that has served or has loved anyone that has served and gone to war (not just sat on their ass on a base or a ship hundreds of miles away) knows that Pedro Pascal's character has an extremely good point during his speech justifying why he turned. Powerful stuff all around.
Not to mention Denzel was the leader and he ditched his men as well.
The entire outcome of this film was Denzels fault.
@@stephenwebster9875 still not the point though, even as killers it shows that Denzel was the only true asset for them(government). It wasn't anyone fault or the reason for them to what they are now as Denzel's character says, he doesn't care, what he does care about is that again they killed his friend. It's simple, no philosophical bullsht. You killed my friend, I kill you...to someone he saw as friends and family. I mean they're hired killers who are near getting caught, I can see their fears but I'm sure there were other ways to go about it If they really wanted to.
Agreed
I was just commenting about that.. I was in the Marines was deployed 3 times, and I did not ReEnlist mostly cause I came to realization of Pedro was saying
@@stephenwebster9875 I mean, he has his own life to live just like his men. Faking his death was the only way he could get away from it all. Pedro's character still chose to kill his friend, which he didn't have to do. His whole reason for why he turned was just an excuse and Robert looked right through his azz.
Dave's face when his phone vibrates is priceless 😂😂😂
Who’s phone did Robert call that phone from to get it to start ringing
After he makes the threat, the guy up front with the leather jacket tries to look confident, but the other two look pretty worried. The guy in back was probably just repeating "f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck f*ck..." in his head the entire time, lmao. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I actually love this part of the movie. Seems so natural and has no antics. I am always a big fan of Denzel.
Ditto!😁❤
My butt cheeks were clinched when the music was playing and the wife came around the corner😂😂😂
Denzel is brilliant here, but his portrayal of a contractor was actually even more realistic in Man on Fire.
My grandfather literally mentioned this film right as I began to read your comment.. Sheesh
Man on Fire is so awesome I watch it everytime it comes on!!!!! Have to watch these next
@@kimmicole991 Indeed. Man on Fire was on in UK last night, but I missed the first half. Every time I watch it I notice more. The cinematography and editing actually make it a true art film too, and way better than anything Tarantino has ever done.
The image warping gives the viewer a palpable sense of what the characters themselves are actually going through at that moment, yet without ever being pretentious.
And then there’s Christopher Walken’s completely underplayed character who demonstrates how much in awe he is of Creasy. Then there’s the quote: “Creasy’s art is death. He’s about to paint his masterpiece!” Anywhere else that would be canned cheese on a street burger. But in this movie, it’s prophecy already playing out as he speaks!!!
When the brother of the voice gets the drop on Creacy, and lands that lucky shot in the back, his fate is sealed. He has one last mission.
And of course there’s the brilliant performance from Dakota Fanning, sealed with the look at the end which proves the respect the two actors have for each other.
Quite simply off the scale.
Peace
@@G58 Should be noted that they're making The Equalizer 3, which also stars Dakota Fanning!
@@joenobody5913 Thank you for your update.
Only sequel Denzel Washington has ever done. Shows you how much love & respect he has for both the character & the team behind it.
And the sequel is great. Brutal, but great.
Will get ready for the Equalizer 3, September the 1st 2023
"Tell me am wrong Dave", followed by the look on Dave's face said it all.
"See ya at work!"
This has got to be my new favorite Denzel quote.
Absolutely mind-boggling....Denzel flat out KILLS it here....
If you haven't seen this film yet, please watch. The climax was worth it. That is some brilliant screenplay and the environmental backdrop it has, made me go ooh man... Very good CGI work too to make it look very convincing.
I don't understand the phone thing in the start, can you explain
Denzel Washington was attacked previously before this and he takes the phone from that killer. He tells to blue shirt guy that who ever trying to get them killed(their common friend was killed in Brussels and there was an attempt on him) called to that phone which Denzel brought and gave to the blue shirt guy.
When Denzel calls to the number in that phone, it goes to our blue shirt guy. So our blue shirt guy is the one who wanted Denzel killed because our blue shirt guy killed their common friend and given the set of skills Denzel has in this movie, he feared Denzel will find out.

I like how we don't question how comfortable that little girl is to just run up to him and jump in his arms after only having a 3 second interaction + a high five with Denzel. It's like even if I was her I'd be like this guy seems alright and trustworthy. Then imagine growing up and being told that man was the one that killed your father. Ohhhhhh that girl is going to be messed up.
No alarm from mom, he must be be ok.
Ironically her father is no better of a character. Just goes to show that stranger danger is more overhyped than anything.
Right
He was there dad's team leader and came into kitchen speaking to the family like a brother who hasn't seen his family in a while.
I love his little finger guns that he does. That whole sequence is the ultimate power move.
"See you at work"!. Just Priceless!
I like that as he’s leaving he makes finger guns at them. Subtle reference to him killing them all later on.

My favorite part other than the finger guns and the speech is the way Denzel sells the sheer hate behind the bright smile after the 'help and company' bit
the look on their faces after he lifts up the kid. they know what’s in store
Great scene, and Denzel made it even better
An awesome actor,isn't he?
Men like Denzel don't age- rather, they LEVEL UP!
Love how, just after declaring that there is no sin-Dave whines about getting screwed over. Such hypocrisy is widespread in the world in which we live... If I do it to you, it ain't wrong. But if you do it to me...
pedro pascal is such a good actor, Denzel is a legend of an actor
08:14 so epic and his facial expression threatening them. Denzel is the greatest actor that ever lived.
Such a great actor AND human being. The fact that he is so open about his faith in God is just incredible. He's def not "hollywood" in the sense of the word. God Bless him!
He told them very polite that he is going to kill every last one of them.😂
I love it. Just… that face as they’re driving away says it all. There’s frustration sure but… also tension. Like, the guy who just promised to end his life (likely violently) is now in a car with his wife, his child. And the only thing protecting them is a moral code he gave up a long time ago.
He knows McCall wouldn’t kill his family.
But he knows that he COULD.
