Dude, i had a yz250 just like the old man whipped out of the trailer. Mine was not thst mint, but it had factory red front shocks on it. Was told it was a factory race bike. And if i can remember the forks were inverted.
i believe it was jim meenan who helped us with a sick dog at an nesc event he is a great guy its so good to see this vid thanks so much mr kaplan we will meet soon gonna need some dirt bikes in the spring and im buying them from you
I certainly appreciate the old dual shock bikes but I was born in 85 so when I was a kid I drooled over dirt bike mag bikes that were new in the 90's. Like that 95 CR250 last steel frame year I think has the sexiest graphics ever (second only to 92 RM's . That 89 YZ I owned one of those. So freaking awesome to see what it looked like before gas and sunlight and trees had their way with mine. Sexy pipe on that one too. Look at me now lol DROOLING over the same bikes I did as a kid. Thank you so much Kaplan America! Also by the way I would absolutely love to see some 2 stroke enduro woods bikes KDX,RMX, WR's. If you ever get the chance to do a video on any of those in any year that would be the icing on the cake for me. I really want to find one eventually to restore. A 93 WR 250 my dream machine or 92 RMX 250. Had the wr500 but not having a power valve and a water cooling takes away from it though it didnt lack power at all. I grew up exploring in the woods hill climbing in eastern ohio on coal company land and those bikes were gnarly and had a headlight so you could smoke all your friends on 4 wheeled machines at night too. Geez just please keep up the good work fellas!
One year at RedBud in the early 80 s on the 4th of July, we always camped all weekend for the amateurs and the pro's . All the port a potty 's got burned to the ground and a car !
WOW ken!!....jojo ,couch burners!! Man I'm grinning ear to ear.i remember camping on the track side.cars burning, outhouses being blown up ,and Hannah smoking 500's on a 125 in dilla mud.thanks bud,
I remember my cousin getting a new one in 89', I didn't even wanna look at my 83'..... And the sound of it was revolutionary!! Yeah that 250 was sweet though dang.....
The 80s bikes are the years I was playing with miniature die cast type bikes, building tracks in the dirt or sand. I knew it was my passion. Thanks for the show!
Went to my first Unadilla in '81, was there for "Bath Tub Man", the Car, I dunno HOW many Couches, Harley guys burned a Jap Bike, Bottle Rocket Wars, and the Parties, "SHOW US YOUR..." "MX Woodstock"...I remember them all...the Racing was World Class, met the Hurricane, Tripes, Weinert, Sun, Pomeroy, Smith, Tripes, O'Show...saw DeCoster's last Race at Unadilla on a Suzuki, Rick Burgett, Lackey...ALL those guys. There's every possibility I COULD have either partied with SR., because we crashed MANY, or otherwise been there at the same time..."THE OTHER SIDE SUCKS!!!"...
wow that was dinner ! Northern Cal is beautiful when it’s not on Fire 🔥 but that little shindig in the northeast is something we could never have - all bikes would need a cat converter !
Is that JoJo Keller? Wow..I remember that guy on Kawasaki’s if I remember right. Awesome video except the Doug Henry replica 4 stroke..like Doug Henry but his 4 stroke YZ should be treated with scorn. Lol.

Great job checking out all the bikes, you never get back what you put in unless you messure in smiles. Wish Harley would pop out a couple bikes again, if Yamaha, ktm, tm, and gas gas can put out reed valve bikes, what's the hold up.
How come America never made any dirtbikes or anything?! I'm not to familiar with the whole bike scene but it kinda just sucks that all these machines & none made by the United States or anything i don't get it..

That’s a 97 cr 500 I believe. I was big into the Honda’s in the late 90s. The 97 250 was the first aluminum frame bike followed by the 98 125. Both turds btw lol
Ken, I disagree, although Doug Henry’s 1998 Yamaha YZ400F was the first 4-Stroke which proved 4-Strokes were capable of running with 2-Strokes (when their displacement is nearly doubled) the nail in the 2-Stroke coffin was the Yamaha YZ250F piloted by Larry Ward which was the first 4-Stroke National win in what’s NOW known as the _Lites Division_ because that’s when 2-Strokes’ stocks *REALLY* began to plummet fast... I have an EXTREMELY low hours 1998 Yamaha YZ125...and that was probably the best 125 of all time...the 1998 YZ125’s were so hot, they could run with the 250s...and I have one that’s an absolute Cherry...I got it from NESC #24 Pete Collins _(Pete’s Cycle & Sled)_ back in 1998 when I was 12 years-old...it’s SUPER CHERRY...
W e can agree to disagree agreeably, i ll stick to my guns, no one even remembers..larry who? but EVERYONE remembers Doug winning on the big gnarly YZ400
A horribly clapped-out '82 RM125 was my first "real" dirtbike, a huge jump up from the ancient '68 Hodaka Ace 100 I had.. How many bikes did you scoop up Ken?

Just out of curiosity I’m not a pro but I have a rmz 450 and my brother has a rmz 250. His is 2008 I believe and mine is 2014. Wide open my bike is significantly faster but in 1st 2nd and 3rd they perform the same even 4th. I really beat him in wide open stretches. Like the Bettencourts shirt at 6:00, my first quad was bought there, 1986trx125. She was a dog but got me to the sand pitts every time
Doug Henry is the most awesome rider and guy!!! Met him at Met Life in 2014! Loved talking to him
JoJo Keller hit the nail on the head when it comes to the new bikes with the Hammer of Justice.
Bad ass group of guys who actually know what a compression relief valve is on an older bike. Looked like Valhalla of motocross. 🤘
These are real enthusiasts. If a bit past their prime. What fun!
I feel just like JoJo about these old bikes they spark so much nostalgia
It's hard to explain ,seeing the machine tunes me up big time ,..the makers the breakers...the championship takers...
