  • In her book "Before and After Loss: A Neurologist’s Perspective on Loss, Grief and Our Brain," University of Maryland School of Medicine neurologist Dr. Lisa Shulman describes a personal story of loss and her quest to understand the science behind the mild-altering experience of grief. Dr. Shulman’s husband Bill Weiner, also a School of Medicine neurologist, died of cancer in 2013.
In this video, Dr. Shulman explains how the mind, brain and body respond and heal following traumatic loss. She also traces the interface between the experience of profound loss and the search for emotional restoration.
