Problem is there is no cheap G Wagon, while there are cheap Defenders and to most people they can’t tell the difference. The interior of the Defender is very nice, but it is not as nice as the G which is the same money.
@@GentlemanJamesWin I do not think enough was done to separate the OCTA interior wise. I explained this to my guide. Seats and sound system were amazing.
The Defender is fantastic, and this new trim is incredible. I test drove a Grenadier and it actually help to make more clear what Land Rover’s vision and execution of the Defender meant in the market. The Granadier looks great, but drives terribly, and has a compromised interior and flawed exterior for modern life. The Defender is comfortable, capable, and the perfect companion for an active family.
Not looking to go 100+ in a Defender. Those wheels are ruining the vehicle. Need offroad wheels 17" rim, 33-35" size. Anyway, this is a gorgeous mall crawler. Will never go off road and get roughed up at 150k+, sheesh
That so called "Crushed Carbon" is debatable, whether it's cool or not. The difference between the "normal" OCTA and this top of the line version is minimal and, in my opinion, not worth the extra cash. Whether it becomes s collectable item is questionable.
The car is amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥…..but the lady’s selection of vocab r horrendous she didn’t have to use “ass” or “poop ur pants” especially the lobby music that was used 🤣🤣🤣
So who will really offroad a limited edition...this make no sense to me. Why not make most Land Rovers with the same performance then gold plate and carbon fiber the limited editions?
In comparison to the G Wagon, Land Cruiser, Patrol, Wrangler, old Defenders etc., this current Defender has arms of air suspension that are too low, affecting its ground clearance and its pretention to be a real off roader. Also being too computerised increases its risks of failures.
You Seem to live in the past; The L663 is highly off road capable - just compare it to any other off road vehicle in terms of clearance, wading, angles and payload… (Trust me - I actually own one! 😉)
@scandinavia6271 Thank you. I am happy to hear this because i like this brand and wish for it to remain off-road capable and successful. I was considering acquiring one, but what pulled me off was that i kept watching and comparing the hights with other off roaders and i am maybe under the wrong impression that , while it is high enough in general, the arms below the air suspension seemed low to me. I used to drive on mountain non asphalted roads/trails with often large stones on the road. A Land Cruiser or Patrol can go over such stones without touching. That's why i look at how high the suspensions below the cars are because it seems to be the lowest part of it. I also noticed that the rear suspension arms and exhaust pipes are much lower in LR 3&4 than in the Discovery 1 and 2.
@@youssefhakim1055 I haven’t had any clearance issues with control arms while off roading. The Defender L663 is beast! I would in fact be worried with the new Toyota Land Cruiser - specifically a departure angle of only 22 degrees would cause problems for me…
All that extra power is just for bragging rights, nothing else. The 3.0L diesel Defender has a higher top speed than this OCTA. Even the 2.0L diesel is only 3mph slower than the OCTA. A Range Rover Sport SV with that exact same engine will do 180mph.
0:37 and when you're driving fast it reduces pitch keeping it almost level when it corners, really stabilizing the car at speed. That is a load of BS. Anyone in the comments section can google the video of this thing testing around the nurburgring, the dam thing was rolling like crazy and wearing out its tires.
@@TheWeavingBagel probably a lot of marketing BS there…😉 However, the stability of the vehicle was one of the reason why I bought the new defender (can’t afford the OCTA). I was expecting it to lean like a kayak, as it is a big and tall vehicle. The fact is that it just feels planted and settled in corners. I feel the air suspension is calibrated perfectly👍

20 inch wheels for offroad car, well it must be design by brainless engineer. Max 17inch wheels will have more sense but it is Land Rover it will brake next day after drive off from dealer 😂😂😂😂😂
This is one of the most stunning vehicles I’ve ever seen
How many have you seen?
Agreed!!
Journalists a few years ago: “They put a 5.0 Supercharged V8 in the defender! They’re mad!”
JLR, today: “we made a raptor”
and now they use this bmw 4.4 crap

Land Rover is seeing this Defender Octa as the SUV to complete with the Mercedes G-Wagen.

Compete with only 1,000 of them
176 000?!....😅
Exactly 🎉
This thing is a work of art on wheels. I don’t know where Range Rover designers get their inspirations from, their work is so unique.
Wow, never seen so much praise for Land Rover before
Those 20 do look good
Given that the world is having so many floods these days, water wading capability is going to be an important factor for cars.
😅😅
Land Rover products: here for a good time not a long time.
Lynn , as stunning as ever, you too Mike Danger!
I went to the reveal in Los Angeles and placed an order.

Wow you guys got an amazing exclusive!
Love the fit. Werq, diva.
Lyn is blushing.
Notable OCTA upgrades all around, but those wheels...
It does have the new good year wrangler duratrac RT tyres though which now have a proper 3 ply sidewall.
Wow not long ago a house was 179k. Crazy

G63 just got competition ❤❤❤
Nice!
Thanks!

for taking middle eastern families to the mall. 😂
Actually it's not as popular in the middle east as in UK for example. Middle east is all about Lexus and Toyota
Twinsies. Nice!
Decent vehicle, but for the price, i'd rather take the F-150 raptor R, it just makes more sense.
Im confused is the OCTA limited edition only limited to 1000 but will there be a non limited version of the OCTA sold to the mass?
Only 1000 of them will be sold in North America. But there will be others made for the rest of the world. We weren't told what that number was.
@@kbb Thanks for the response ! Do you know if it would still have the BMW Engine as well for the rest of the world?? :D

Who would pay $160k+ for this thing?
Those who can afford
non-P00rs
It's mean to be Land Rover's answer to the Mercedes G Class.
They're. hoping at least 1,000 people.
Me!!!!
That is a crazy price tag!
Thats one beautiful money pit.

poop your pants?
I WANT TO BE RICHHHH
You can go into the Bush in a Land Rover. If want to come back out take a Landcruiser!
Why would you shit your pants if you drove ~190km per hour?
It's driving faster on those off-road tires. And it's more about hard braking than driving. IYKYK.
179k lol 😂.
Overpriced for sure.
Has not flex.
Your presenter is spot on, the bigger wheels are ghastly. Way too much bling, but a non-bling version could be a mega car.
It's such a preference but when it comes to road comfort in an off-road vehicle usually a bit smaller feels better.

After all your driving on the same shit road with suspension and tires on it , and why its priced like crasy coz of the v8 come on ...
