The KEEN WK 400 takes advantage of the natural constant curve during human walking allowing the shoes to move from one step to the next as efficiently and effortlessly as possible even in the face of chronic pain or injury. The intuitive tech and design of these is is as effective as it is simple. There is nothing else on the market that comes close to the function of the WK 400. #KEEN #WK400 #TheJoyOfWalk #KEENFolk #ad

Extremely thorough. Great detailed information. Superior editing. 10/10
Appreciate you
Thank you for the extremely-thorough review!
Great review. Just ordered a pair online. Can't wait to walk in comfort again!
Great video, and funny
Great review so helpful! Thank you for your service sir.
REALLY interested in getting these!! Product info even says that made with sustainable materials!!!! Thanks, Zach!!!!
Sustainable materials is a con, they just want your money,
Great review 💪🏿🧠
Cannot wait for the review of Either Peak Taichi Flash 4.0 from PEAK or AG 3 PRO from 361, those are 🔥💯
Awesome, will check these out for my mother who had knee replacement and loves to walk.
Hope you get a chance to review the upcoming Skechers Ride 11 (eta 4/15-ish). Looks similar to the WK400 and people love the Hyperburst foam, which has been updated. There's also a carbon "H" plate.
Moisture/heat control on the Keen's seem clutch!
Awesome- yeah the drying was unreal- I thought I had hosed myself and the next morning good as new - insane
Please please please tell her to walk backwards
Great videos--the most informative around. Thanks for the time you take to do them! I have an old right tib-fib fracture with plates and pins. I usually wear a New Balance 928 (initially started to use them to control pain from heel bone spur and plantar faciitis.) I have custom orthotics. Is this a good shoe for everyday wear? I'm also starting pickleball and notice the affected ankle feels mildly achy after playing about an hour. Any shoe you would recommend for pickleball? I am a female, 5'8", 183 lbs.
These are great for every day use, the custom orthotics you’d have to see as some fit well in these others don’t - for the pickleball id have to take a look at your foot to say but if you want a consult I have an email address to get on the wait list when my calendar opens up for 2023 it’s fdzconsults@gmail.com just send your name and sport you play
This is what im looking for, i have a strange feet so I hope this pair of shoes is the answer. Thanks for making this video. just ordered and so excited to try em’
Let me know how they do
@@FootDoctorZach sure i will.. thanks again Dock 🔥❤️🔥
@@makata_pro1698how did they do? 10 month update would you recommend for daily walking ?🚶
Love the review. Glad to see you're getting some island time. Does the high stack make the risk of ankle sprain higher when climbing over the rocks?
I would have thought but I didn’t notice it - I actually talk about this in the video too
i wonder if these would be good for warehouse work, spending 10 hours a day or more on your feet with concrete floors while carry heavy items. I bought the KEEN Vista energy ($130) that are super light weight carbon fiber toe and they did awesome for about 10 months but then the tread and sole started peeling off, i slapped them with super glue and clamps, that seems to have fixed them for now but wont last much longer.
Wow, thank you so very much, outstanding review on what looks like a shoe I would very much like to add to my daily walks. A couple of quick questions if you wouldn't mind.....the weight of the shoe & mid-sole feel and/or ride of the shoe? Is it a cushy ride or is it more on the dense and firm side? Anyways, again thank you very much and appreciate you!
Glad it was helpful! Weight is in the midsole section- the ride is definitely more solid / dense because the nylon plate is top loaded, it feels springy because of how they roll- it’s a unique experience underfoot for sure
@@FootDoctorZachSimilar to the feel of the Adidas 4DFWD v2?
Any suggestion for moderate to severe hallux rigidus in both big toe joints with some metatarsalgia. I also have a wide foot (4E to 6E). I am not having any luck so far as every shoe I try I still have bad pain in feet when I get beyond 1.5 miles in a walk. I been trying to walk briskly for exercise since I had 3 back surgeries and then 2 heart procedures last year. I am 64 year old male. I dropped from 248 pounds to now 191. It has been suggested to try shoes with rocker plate, especially carbon, but most do not come in wider foot versions. I currently am trying a Hoka Bondi 8, but no help in the big toe or ball of foot pain. I have a 4E x-wide version which is good, but the toe box is flexing more than I had hoped.
Very thorough review 10/10
Would these be okay for a naturally flat foot with a neutral gait?
I've never had a problem, but I gave myself PF trying to "break in" a running shoe so I'm looking for a new shoe.
Looks like you were at the Divi Tamarijn. Great resort.
How's the comfort?? Do they have nice insoles? That's the most important part for me.
How are they for running?
How's the cushion compared to Adidas Boost, Nike ZoomX, New Balance Fresh Foam X?
This is got to be the best shoe reviewing channel
I appreciate you
Doc, I want your opinions on barefoot shoes. What do you think of them?
Hi Zach, I noticed you don't mention barefoot shoes. Any opinion on them? Unless I'm balling in vivos.
Dr. Do you think this ones are good for plantar facsittis?
Hey Zach! Are these great for long 5 mile walks? I’m a bigger guy at 6’7” 260 pounds and love to talk but I’m between these and the New Balance 1080. Price is not a factor so are these better?
I recommend not to buy any shoe with a thick midsole, my last few pairs were brooks and asics, they are so unstable and too soft
My mother has fused toes from hammer toe correction when she was younger and therefore has limited range of motion in them and limited flex in her forefoot. Could these possibly be a good option for her as she does tend to struggle finding shoes that dont cause her discomfort after long periods of being on her feet. Thanks heaps Zach I love your knowledge
Yeah that’s one of the main use cases for them- limited range of motion at the toes, ankle , knee , hip- anywhere that should bend that can’t anymore
@@FootDoctorZach thank you so much I really appreciate you getting back to me and for always being a wealth of knowledge
Hi Zach, great review. Would you suggest these over a maximalist running shoe like the NB Fresh Foam X More v4 for walking? I try to walk 2.5 miles daily in the park. Thank you
Thanks! If you’re having pain or trying to offload something these are in a league of their own
Sneaker head here, but keen is definitely one of the top brands out rn!
Quality is up there
These remind me of the Asics Glide Ride
They do remind me of the walking boot when I injured my ankle. Would these walking shoes take too much pressure off the foot resulting in weakening the foots?
No that’s a marketing gimmick - unless you wore a crazy rocker 24/7 I haven’t seen that to be the case - some rockers cause instability but these have the really low forefoot that gives similar biofeedback to a standard running shoe
I was wondering, how come a shank helps keep a shoes midsole foam lasting a little bit longer, if it only typically covers the mid foot of a shoe? Great video as always Doc!
Stress shielding - the foam can still bottom in other places but since it’s taking up majority of the weight the areas not covered are better equipped to stay inflated
@@FootDoctorZach ahh I see, just helping distribute your weight away from the areas like the heel and forefoot?
How do these compared to the Mizuno wave horizon stability shoe
So these wouldn't/would be good for someone with a waddling gait? I ask because you said if you have a shifting gait, these might not be the best.
Have you seen Kybun shoes? They're super expensive. I have a pair and they help a lot but I can't wear them every day -- almost too much bounce. If you could get your hands on them, would love to know your opinion.
Yeah that type of gait I’d be weary of with them- best to try in person
I have seen a lot of others asking about sketchers.
Do you have an opinion/ upcoming review on their viper court pro Pickleball shoe?
Thanks!
I actually reviewed them and didn’t release it…wasn’t crazy about them- loved LOVED the grip but the uppers were not my fav so I canned it for now as I didn’t wanna disparage a company
I'm a cart pusher in Florida. Any shoes I ever buy only last a couple months. The hot pavement basically melts away the tread. I need something durable and very comfortable, as I walk between 10 and 20 miles a day, 5 days a week. Would these do the trick, you think? Or would you recommend something else? Thanks! (PS: I get major ball of foot pain)
The rubber is really efficient at airflow and because of the shape its constantly being unloaded so id say these are one of the best you'll try but sometimes even airplane wheel rubber melts if it gets hot enough so its gonna be situation dependent
Let me guess , Amazon ?

Doctor Zach is it worth a Jordan 36 xdr to play outdoors?
Or in general, those xdr versus normal versions improve so much?
Yeah for me xdr is a perfect outdoor profile
@@FootDoctorZach in jordan 36 Even if I still have that thin pattern?
Would these be recommended for someone with plantar fasciitis? I have extreme heel pain from it.
They wont " cure " it but with stretching and treatment these can help offload it
Would these make sense for someone coming back from sesamoid fracture? I work in warehouse and walk around all night.
I’ve recommended them in the past for that exact profile
I have both of my knees that pretty much need replacing. But I'm still able to cycle a lot (80 miles/week). But after walking a mile or so, my knees hurt. Would this be the type of shoe to look for as far as walking around all day for my job ?? I also have custom insoles as I was getting some foot pain because of my flat feet.
For walking with an injury or issue that’s their main use case but if you stand static a lot you won’t get their full use
Is this an exercise shoe like the MBT or a performance shoe like the Reshod Walking Shoes?
I’d say more performance - they are meant to increase efficiency so you can walk longer / less pain whereas MBT I think is more a foot trainer or maximalist barefoot shoe
I saw the yellow one's online, they say men's but should i choose the same size as i am and wear them? . I'm female or are they shaped different for women😅 thank you in advance.
I believe the only difference is they’re a tad wider
You Should do a review on the New WK450
Review Saucony Tempus next
Do you think these would be good for a mail carrier that walks 10 to 15 miles a day?
For the walking part yeah since they rock it’s a different sensation on a gas pedal though if you drive
How is this shoe different than the popular ghost 15 ?
These remind me of the Nike infinity 3 with a higher stack height.
is this also good for jogging or running ?
Discussed in detail at the tail end of the video
Could these be helpful for capsulitis?
At the MPJ sure
@FootDoctorZach Could you make a video about the injuries of Lebron and Lamelo ball????? quite remarkable injuries.
I have a couple LeBron ones and a Ball short
@@FootDoctorZach i have seen those but Lamelo just had a non contact ankle fracture. And Lebron also had a foot injury couple of days ago but he played through it and is now out indefinetly. Just thought it would make a great video. Its in the news and not a lot information to find about it.
Since we're talking about walking shoes, I would like your opinion on the Skechers arch fit walking shoes. Keep up the good work, doc! I love how you're diversifying the shoes!
I actually have a video on it ruclips.net/video/polCvnSrzhU/видео.html
@@FootDoctorZach oh my goodness. Thank you so much! I should scroll all the way back! Haha
Skechers may look great but their build quality is garbage. I've had a few different pairs and they have all been garbage.
I'm looking for a good shoe for work. I'm 53, 5'7" 200lbs, with type 2 diabetes. I manage a dental office.. so about 50% or more of my day, I'm sitting at my desk. My left foot has some numbness (but weirdly, also pain) along the side going from the tip of my little toe, about an inch or so across the side. I've been looking for a shoe for quite a while. I've never spent more than about $60, so making a much larger investment is intimidating... and I can't afford to try multiple brands/models.
Any advice would be so very appreciated!!!
I'm in the same boat but heavier. 250lb male, Type 2 diabetic and my day is split between desk and walking around. I just found some really great shoes today but they were quite expensive.... around $200 Canadian. They were Hoka Clifton 9 and Hoka Arahi 6. Both of these shoes were the best things I've ever worn on my feet for sneakers. I actually liked the Ariya 6 more because the Clifton 9's were a bit spongy feeling and felt like you could sprain an ankle if you weren't careful (the Ariya's felt like they had better support). While both of these shoes did fit and feel really good.... I opted to order the Hoka Gravitoa 5 today as they are supposed to fit a bit wider. I will know if I made the right choice once they get here. They did not have any in stock at the store. Worst comes to worst.... I can send them back and go get the Ariya 6's and be plenty happy about my purchase. I used to be like you and spent very little on my shoes and work boots but after buying my first pair of Red Wing work boots.... I learned immediately that footwear is not something to chince on when it comes to comfort. Your feet, toes, heels, back and legs will thank you! You'll have more energy at the end of the day too!
Might have to try these on! What's your opinion on xero shoes?
They’re alright for certain training regimens and foot types but not for everyone
@@FootDoctorZach Stay away if I have flat feet?
I'm standing a lot and sometimes walking back and forward. Stop and go. Are these my shoes, or there is something else?
They’re more for sustained walking
Wow, what shoe you were wearing in that injury clip
Witness7
15mm heel drop, wtf, thats like for people who wear heeled shoes, like asics gel womens 13mm drop from few years back
Nike has introduced a shoe with similar concept called Motiva. 😮
What do you think about all these barefoot type shoes, like Xero or Vivobarefoot?
Watch my latest live stream I talk about it in detail- I’ll do a dedicated video at some point but basically good for some not others and for training not daily wear and tear
Whay about for someone who works in a hospital and is on their feet all day? Averaging 20k steps in 12 hours.
Can you do an ultimate shoe guide for running shoes?
Once I review enough of them - I haven’t put some to foot yet and my spidey foot doc sense is usually pretty good but don’t wanna be disingenuous so I will once I get hard evidence of my theories for some of these I haven’t tried yet
That would be awesome thanks doc
@@FootDoctorZach do it for other sports too like basketball and tennis.
Arron Rodgers is rocking these for his rehab. That's what brought me here...they looked comfortable as hell 😂
Haha I just changed the title to that before I saw this comment
Is that Curacao? Nice video!
Thanks! No, Aruba
@@FootDoctorZach wow, that is so sad.. I couldn't even recognize my home country..
Star Walkin’
Haha
Were you in St Martin?
Aruba
Any good for a Morton’s neuroma sufferer?
Wide enough and offloading enough for sure
For walking, i love my skechers go walk.. very comfy for walking all day, just not to the rocky beach or rugged terrain..
Plus.. they're not expensive.
Why arent brands designing shoes like Altra running with an anatomic fit that allows the foot to spread out naturally?
It looks weird and saves weight.
What about people with say bad backs?
how is it possible that Keen would make a walking shoe that doesn't have a wide foot shaped toe box?
This reminds me of those walking shoes they made for Phil Knight, but I really didn't like those.
That 165.00 price point is too high. You can get more than a decent running shoe that will also be good for walking for way less than that.
Not really for the specific purpose these serve - if you need what these offer a generic running shoe isn’t really up to it if you watch the details in the video
Im not a fan, ive had 3 different shoes with thick midsoles and they all become wobbly and dramatically slow my walking pace ,a regular 10 minute walk turns into a 15 minute walk
Dr Zach? Are you too young to remember shape ups? They saved my professorship (standing all day) with high arches. These are literally colorful shape ups.
Rocker is completely different - I talk about it word for word in the video
Man I want to buy these for my parents. They walk every night.
I just wish it was cheaper.
Its cool tho.
Just wait for a sale
Barefoot shoes vs. running/walking/regular shoes.
I wouldn't say these are stand-alone and unique. Maybe as an off-road walker, maybe, but MBT has been around for an age. Hoka Bondi even More V4 (v1) is better still gold standard for many in offloading Lisfrancs, midfoot OA etc
Bought and returned. Wanted to love these but the toebox is too narrow. Pinched around the metatarsals. These are not like a 2E as Zack says
Obviously getting a check for this😂😂Lol
Opinion on barefoot shows
I like shows with shoes
Would they be good for someone with spine issues? I love walking, but when I walk and much as I like it ends with much more pain in the spine and legs.
Thats what designed for- but it really depends on the specific issues you have going on- its one of those you have to try situations
Just Wear barefoot shoes
Barefoot shoes are a good training aid but not everyone can wear them just like not everyone can see without glasses - they’re great for certain things but aren’t a cure all
Those are basically Skechers shapeups!!!!
Rocker is in different configuration and foam/ shank setup is completely different
