In this episode you join me as I visit the York Model Railway Exhibition and National Railway Museum. I share highlights of some of the model railways on show as well as some stunning shots of Mallard, Rocket, a Class 40 and HST 'Sir Kenneth Grange'. The layouts on show showcased some Hornby, Bachmann, Heljan and Accurascale locos and rolling stock, and possibly more! A fantastic railway inspired day out to the City of York.

Love watching your video Dave and liked thanks for sharing DD.
Cheers. Glad you like watching what I upload. Great to hear that kind of feedback 🙏 Dave
@@DeanPark Your welcome Dave
Great video dave thanks for sharing, mate😊
All great Dave but liked the Camel Quay. Cheers
Splott!
Hi Dave. It was the R30211 version 60103 i purchased at the show. Lovely loco
You were lucky! They’ve been sold out most places since release!
Thanks Dave for sharing your day out. Looked like you really enjoyed it. Cheers, Bob
I always love going to York. Absolutely love the place. The fact that there was a train exhibition on merely made it all the better. :-)
Some great layouts. Being from Cardiff, Splott was my personal favourite. That particular diorama reminds me of the steel works just outside where I work, along Rover Way, Splott. The modellers have done a great job of representing the real area.
Ah that’s interesting. I wasn’t aware it was based on an actual location. That’s good to know. It was certainly the behest modeled layout there in terms of quality and detail. If only it was triple the size :-)
Great video here Dave, hope you had a great time at the York show, wanted to get to it myself this year but unfortunately couldn’t, also hope you enjoyed your trip to the NRM, nice variety of shots of the exhibits.
Nice variety of layouts. Thanks Dave
Pleasure. Sone good little layouts I couldn’t get mean to get decent footage though or I would have had more to share :-)
Hi, great video, the class 31 pulling the breakdown crane and the RTC and re-railing coaches was my favourite, thanks for sharing.
Awesome video
You must of had a packed day to fit all that in, It took me all day just to see the show so many good layouts and trade stands. Although not the best detailed layout for entertainment value Reevy Road was my favourite there was always something moving. I also like Newhaven Harbour, not a huge Southern fan but it is nice to see a 3rd rail layout.
Great video Dave, you show detail that it is difficult to pick up when jostling to see some of the best layouts due their popularity. Thanks
Yeah some smaller layouts were too crowded to get any footage. There was a chap with a massive tablet ruining everyone’s day by resting it on layouts and on fences! Some people have very little awareness of the world around them.
@@DeanPark H Dave, yes I saw the "culprit" and actually he was blocking Splott, at the time, so your video certainly covered this well!
I was down there on Sunday myself. Great show as usual and plenty of inspiration. Reevy Road West always had something moving every time I stopped by (I was up and down the stairs several times!). Cheers
Yes it was a crowd puller as it always had something Moving. That’s important for me.
Nice to bump into you and Richard, sorry we digressed to talk cars as you two were there for trains, regards Eric
Haha. Not at all. Trains planes and automobiles is all good! Was nice to bump into a few friends. :-)
Should say about Flying Scotsman it was free to see it but need a Free ticket and there went fast
Damn. Really? I was told it was pre payment tickets only :-( ah well I’ve been on the footplate and got coal from her tender so I wasn’t too fussed about only getting to see her cab from behind a sheet of Perspex.
@@DeanPark we went to an event at a Peterborough railway preservation place a year or two back and she was stabled there before going on a mainline run. Got to see her up close in the sidings and a friend got on the footplate. They were charging £15 or so normally. Sometimes your in the right place at the right time occasionally 😊
Very enjoyable video.Overall I preferred Reevy Road West part 1.
Hi Dave, really enjoyed your video. It was hard to pick my favourite, but it came down to Reevy Road West Part 1 and Chapel en le Firth, however my final choice was Reevy Road West Part 1....Thanks for posting. Cheers Greg
Thanks Greg. Glad you enjoyed the watch! Reevy was prob my highlight too :-)
In the NRM if you asked at the main desk they were handing out free Scotsman footplate tickets
The website said it was fully booked for that day :-( if only I’d known. Ah well.
Ye same with us, apparently they had loads they wanted to give away, its a bit annoying that you can't see it without a ticket and the website is wrong
I think Reevy Road was prob the best layout you filmed Dave, but Newhaven Harbour needed at back scene (too bland) even the hand painted one on Chaple en le Firth made a great differance! & Yes I know you have no control on how a layout is presented at a show. I hope the modeling group might see and read this, York museum has some great locos But can be dark and dingy for the camera.
Yes, I was thinking the same! More light is needed!
Some nice layouts and cleverly designed scenery. Sadly many of the trains were running so fast we couldn't see the details.
Some were motoring along! :-)
Great video Dave. Any ambitions to build an exhibition layout yourself?
Cheers. Hmm may be a small one one day. But it’s a team effort and a lot of work. It sure if I’d have the time
Was this video taken on the Monday, by any chance?
Hi. Saturday :-)
