Hi there. Nice enthusiasm but there are some serious complications with your lao ba zhang. For example, your 2nd palm is not from lao ba zhang, but from lian huan zhang. Also you seem to have altered the lao ba zhang quite extensively, at times I found them hard to recognize. Here is Li Ziming at quite an old age running through them in a very relaxed way (he is very old at this point), but nonetheless, this is a good reference for you to view. ruclips.net/video/AvUbMshAKfA/видео.html

I'm happy you have found a school you enjoy that brings you fulfillment. Thank you for the critique but I'll stick to basing my practice off of my Shrfu ZhangXueAn, his teacher ZhangJunMing and Li XingRen (all of whom worked directly with Li ZiMing).
      All the best

Your response is very condescending, but I cant say I am surprised. First of all, I live in Beijing and have done so for over a decade. I havent "found a school" as you put it.... Secondly,. I am a direct Liang disciple and 5th generation. In other words, I am your direct martial uncle, and the same generation of your teacher, and recognized so by the Liang family. You may decide to ignore what I am telling you for reasons of ego and pride, but it does not change what I am saying, and I said it for your own benefit. Finally, as you are representing and spreading Liang Bagua, it is the responsibility of not only yourself, but others in the family to ensure it is done and represented correctly.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Li Laoshi be the best example of Liang style? Is you teacher better than him?

Living in Beijing you must be aware that forms vary tremendously between teachers, even within a single generation. Right now you are attempting to go over my Shrfu's head. Is that really something you feel qualified to do? I'm sure your advice is well intentioned. However, it comes across as presumptuous that you would have so much more to offer than teachers who have spent their entire lives practicing this stuff.

I'm sorry, I don't follow your logic. First, yes, as your teacher and I are the same generation of course I am qualified to comment. Secondly, I am not trying to offer you anything, I'm pointing out fact to you, with evidence clearly highlighting that your 2nd palm is not lao ba zhang etc. This is not about "variation within generations... . Aren't you being presumptuous thinking I haven't practiced all my life? Please do yourself a favor and look at materials out there of 4th generation practitioners, there are a few still alive, my teacher included (who was in the first group of disciples li took). There are videos and books you can reference (including Vince Blacks translation of Li book) which have lao ba zhang in them. Unless you want to ignore ask this.. Finally, you talk a lot about lineage and family, but when someone in your family, a generation above you contacts you, you somehow think it's irrelevant...

I hate martial arts because I am an avid military enthusiast who perfected the art of taking prisoners.
