    “Now let’s look at Starfield an AMD sponsored title” for anyone who doesn’t know that means it’s a cherry picked game and that the RUclipsr here was given a commission from AMD to show Starfield because it’s slightly out performs this beast of a GPU we all came to see.
    Look at all the benchmark tests not paid RUclipsrs from AMD with paid partnerships that cherry pick which games they show you LOL

      @@TechTesters i especially liked the power cost comparison because yeah the 7900 xtx seems initially cheaper in 2 years i would have already lost all the saved money on the energy bill as the prices for energy are kinda high in Germany, usually i favor AMD but DLSS and simply the Power Consumption gave the 4080 Super the edge for me. you earned a sub :D

    Hi there! This review is really important to me as I play MSFS2020, you are really the only one to show some real stats on the simulator. I just had a question but wasn’t sure if you had the data for it. Do you know what the 1% lows looked like on MSFS2020 with DLSS enabled? I’m just curious if it made it any better since it seemed to be slightly lagging behind the 7900XTX in that regard. Either way, thank you so much!

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  4 месяца назад

      Hey :) With just DLSS, 77 FPS Avg, 60 FPS 1% Low. With DLSS+FG: 130 FPS Avg, 115 FPS 1% Low.
      Does look like AMD has slightly better 1% Lows, but at 4K I'd personally take DLSS if you're going to play MSFS on 4K. It's a game where FG can be useful as well, but opinions will vary on that one :)

Thanks but i do not have the time to sit threw the whole video, I did hear you say that the super 4080super does not even have a 2.1hdmi port where the Asus 4070ti super has dual HDMI 2.1 and Dual AV1 encoder chips. Great review! I particularly enjoyed your 'power cost' segment, I don't see that very often in reviews. Maybe idle power consumption is a good metric to consider as well. I recently discovered that my MSI Suprim X 4090 idles at 40+ watts. If you use your PC for other stuff than just gaming, idle consumption adds up. Even though an RTX 4090 is not a budget buy and power is only a fraction of its costs, I still don't like to waste energy for no reason.

A lot of the reviewers of this card spent a lot of time complaining about nvidia's naming of the card, the time they have to waste to review it, and the video card industry in general. i have a corsair RM750i power supply. is this suitable for this card and its power consumption? do i get any benefit buying a larger power supply?

    • @mambapopenhoffer8706
      @mambapopenhoffer8706 4 месяца назад

      RM750 probably stands for 750 watts power supply. 4080's power draw is maxed out at 320 watts, lets say 350 for easy math. so you got 400 spare.
      There is a practice when 20-30% of the power supply capacity is reserved for health (meaning that the power supply won't heat as much and the fans won't kick in on full all the time). That's roughly minus additional 150 if we make a 20% reserve, which is plenty. So you got 250 Watts to work with if you want to be sparing to your power supply.
      Now add your processor wattage, fans (6W each), hdds(6W each), motherboard (around 65W). It's pretty tight but it's possible in terms of wattage. Not if you have water cooling, though. So say, if you have an i5 12gen, which is at 125W with air cooling, you're fine. An i7 - probably not.
      What bothers me, though, is that it would be outputting half of it's power through one output line within the power supply - is an individual line rated for 300W? Because if it's an older model - who knows? It was probably engineered for, I dunno, 150 W power draw? 200 maybe? Who knows - you'll have to open it up to find out, checking all the transistors and such. From my experience, people who buy high-end cards also get modern 1000+W power supplies that are designed for that kind of load. No point of buying a 2K graphics card to then skimp on an adequate $100-150 power supply: 300 watts is no joke.
      Also another thing to consider: if your issue is the power supply, maybe there are other bottlenecks in the system like SSD? Because ordinary SSD and M2 makes quite the difference. What I'm trying to say is make sure you're not putting a new saddle on an old horse.

    Thank you for including power pricing charts as here in Australia 🇦🇺, our electricity’s⚡costs are high (not as bad as Europe) but we’re getting moderately into green energy and it’s adding to the costs 😵‍💫😭
    As an Aussie 🇦🇺 myself, I say, let the Super lineup rot on shelves here and save $100’s AUD on purchasing the non-Super models. With an average $300AUD (~$200USD) price difference and often much more, purchasing the RTX4080 non-Super model and if necessary just overclock your GPU and get a bigger performance boost (than the 4080-Super), is a no brainer if you’re after a new RTX 40-series GPU🥰💪👍

    I do think the 4070 Ti SUPER ist the current best sweetspot if you need a fast NVDIA GPU for both gaming and also productivity. In Germany the 4080 SUPER is about € 300,- more expensive than the 4070 Ti SUPER; which has a much better performance / value ratio. Even if you are willing to pay € 900,- for a GPU that does not mean, that another € 300,- is really needed for that extra performance, especially if you not only do games. VRAM is the much more important aspect, e.g. for video editing and both GPUs have 16GB.

    • @TechTesters
      @TechTesters  4 месяца назад +1

      4070 Super / Ti Super review is coming in the next day or two. The Ti Super definitely makes sense if you want a cheaper productivity alternative, also with the 2 encoders. But for gaming though, assuming a 200 euro difference (soon?), I don't like the Ti Super much.

    I like your reasonable take. This card is definitely a few hundred too expensive still, and the super sticker unfortunately doesn't come with any noticeable increase in performance, but this stuff should put pressure on other cards to lower their prices specifically from AMD. This gpu generation was incredibly disappointing, but here's hoping on the next horizon and with Intel in the game confident in battlemage (hopefully arc is out of beta by then), there's gonna be better options for real midrange - low high-end cards.

    I am a little confused. the 4080 Super should be 5-7% faster than the 4080 when you look at the specs.
    What limit dos the card hit when gaming? (frequency, power, thermal)
    It looks to me like the 4080 Super might be power limited, since they both pull 283W. The 4080 Super should pull more power since it has more cores and a higher frequency.
    Do both cards OC to the same performance?
    Good video though.

      5% more cores with the same process and TDP would never lead to 5-7% performance (unless you have a very bad 4080 and a great 4080 super maybe). Nvidia themselves expected 0-3% in most use cases, which sounds about right and aligns with my data and other reviews.
      Technically you can push perf a bit higher with more power, but you're losing a lot of efficiency at the top already.

    • @Petch85

      @@TechTesters
      I think my question is, do the 4080 super reach 2550 MHz with all cores active when gaming? (Assuming the 4080 hits 2505)
      My thinking is (more or less 🙂)
      If there were no other limitations ~5% more cores + ~2% higher core clocks should get ~7% ([1.02*1.05=1.07) Fair the memory clocks is only ~3% and the cache size is the same, thus one of them could limit the card. (i guess)
      The process node and architecture is the same (it is the same chip), fair the could be some difference from binning (some chips are just better than others), I guess they have improved the yield numbers, or maybe they use the weaker ones as 4070 Ti Super chips.
      But, say you clocked both the 4080, 4080 Super and 4070 Ti Super at 2400MHz and 1300MHz memory (assuming non of the would be power or thermal limited at this clock), should we not expect them to have performance aligning with there core count? 10240, 9728, 8448. Thus the 4080 Super would be 105% of the 4080 and the 4070 Ti Super would be 86% of the 4080?
      There could be a little difference due to the cache amount, but I would not expect it to be a lot. The PCI speeds are the same, and I am assuming games where the CPU have no trouble keeping up.

    • @Petch85
      @Petch85 4 месяца назад

      If anyone is interested, I found the problem.
      The advertised boost clocks mean nothing!
      They advertise 2505 and 2550 MHz but in testing they reach 2700 Mhz. It seems like that can be quite a bit difference from card to card.
      Paul's Hardware have a 4080 FE that runs at 2780 MHz, and that card is able to beat a 4080 Super in some games, since that card only runs at 2720 MHz.
      That said 2700 MHz is better than the promised 2550 MHz (~5%) and I guess that is a good thing. But it basically makes the advertised boost clocks useless.
      Now I would like to se a benchmark just testing 5-10 of the same GPU and looking at what boost clocks they reach from the factory. Cause if the difference can be up to 5%, you could end up with a card much worse than the benchmarks you might be looking at when deciding what card to get.
      Also reviewers should probably be better at showing what clocks there sample is running at.
