From what I have been given to understand ,is the cam lift on the DL 250 V. Strom is different to that of the GW 250 ,in order to give the bike more torque & fuel economy in the 12 mph to 55 mph range . This is the speed ranges ,Suzuki expect the little Strom to be ridden most of the time . I service & repair all my own bikes ,& was wondering about valve settings for my wee strom as the engine is not strictly the same cam wise as the Inazuma 250 . As they never flogged many 250 V storms in the U.K. ,there is no Haynes work shop manual ,& since the SX 250 V strom was launched in India all the focus now for information seems to be aimed at the. new SX V Strom 250 single ,which is based on the gixxer 250 engine & frame .. The good thing is the valve settings are doable without all the palaver of removing the tank & beak plastics . 👍

Great stuff, watched them all. It's definitely going to help. Any one got any idea where to get a work shop manual?

The engine & frame is based on the Inazuma 250 except for the cams being a different profile for the V Strom . As they never sold a lot in the U.K. I doubt that Haynes will bother to print a workshop manual . My dealer advised me to try downloading a proper one on line if I can find one . These bikes sold quite well in Latin America ,where they use them on all types of roads over the Andes & up the side of volcanoes loaded with all kinds of swag & they don’t miss a beat .

    Great video, very helpful!
Unrelated... do you happen to know where they have hidden the tip-over sensor of these, do you?

      Thanks 👍
No idea on the tip over sensor, sorry 🤷‍♂️

The tip over sensor is the alloy blob on the underneath of the foot pegs ,when it hits the deck ,it starts pushing up your footpegs to warn you that ,you have leaned the bike over too far .

      @@maskedavenger2578 😂 that’s funny, nice one 👌
Apparently the tip-over sensor is located on the right hand side of the bike , on the upper frame rail on the inner side. It’s a rubber box with ‘UP’ on it.

@@bikerantics5001 I got the tip over info ,off an English guy living in Japan who owns a V strom 250 like mine . His foot peg hit the deck on a very tight hairpin coming down a mountain road in Japan . I didn’t know they actually had an electric sensor . This is the first injected fuel bike I have owned in over 50 years of riding all the rest have been carb fed singles ,twins or multi.cylinder jobs . There is sensors & relays all over the show .& I still haven’t worked out how to use the dashboard screen properly yet or set the time .👍

Wonder why motorbikes all state to have valve clearances checked yet no car manufacturer does

    • @bikerantics5001

I think a lot of modern cars have self adjusting valve clearances or they go over 100000 miles without needing it so you don’t hear about it as much as you used to. Don’t motorbikes run at higher revs and have smaller engineered tolerance’s, i fink🤷‍♂️
