    WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE LAST TRIP
    This video is basically a recap of the last trip I went to - a little bit of a back story, the last trip was for longtail tuna and there were quite a few caught that day, 18 to be exact - it was a slow day. It was also a day I chose to do a lot of experiments - new things I have been waiting to do for a while and the last trip was a very good opportunity because I knew we were going to get some shots at this fish. I lost so many fish - this was a day I learned so much - what I really thought would work failed on me and some that I never thought would work...actually ended up working very well.
    These "Hang Out" videos are going to be a staple of this channel - these are videos that will include you in the process by being "a fly on the wall" - so you will be part of the preparation or the recap of the trips.
    This will also take a few other forms such as discussions on tackle, while I'm fishing etc. the whole Idea is for me to take you guys every step of the process and we deal with both the successes and failures. s

    On your last video i commented about our popular lures for southern bluefin tuna. By the time i made it you were probably out on the water 😂. The review in this video confirms nearly everything. White and natural colours are king when it comes to hookups and catch. For some reason, we find pink works as well.
    Its hard to get a tinny profile lure with hardware to hold a tuna. Those metal slugs you shown is exactly what we use. They present the profile of the white bait or anchovie and sardine but have the weight to cast on a heavy setup being made of lead/ metal (no wood or plastic).
    What happend to that giant spoon lure you rigged?

      @TheFishingKit  Месяц назад

      Didnt get to use the spoon becAuse of thr treble and there were too many people on the boat

    I learned it the hard way: change your leaders every trip. Do not get stingy on FC leaders.

    I'm going on my first offshore trip of the year tomorrow, chasing seabass in southern california.
    Struggling with picking my last setup... typical.
    Tuna would be easier to pick my arsenal.
    Seabass is the main target, but there will be a chance at yellowtail, halibut, and rockfish.

    I wouldn't mind a 8' 40# spinner that could cast light swimbaits but i don't think they exist

      I use a 9' rockaway by Okuma when I am surfcasting with soft plastic. I am pretty sure it comes in 8' but it's got a long butt end not ideal for a boat.
