    Two questions:
    1. Who was the Axe man???
    2. How many times did I say "Weird" on this video?

So the axe man was a puppet made by Nick. A ton of the original Starkids did puppet stuff in college that’s why Starship was full of puppets and I guess Nick still makes puppets in his spare time or something?
WILD prop to just be made

One of the things you asked in the video is why Ted brought Peter to the camp. To me, Ted presented the experience as a rite of passage. He had to go through with it, so Peter had to do it, too.

Already answered, but yes, Lumber Axe is a puppet (chest up) that Nick controls. In the music video, Curt is the moving Lumber Axe (the legs and stuff) with the puppet. Also, Corey and Bryce actually filmed their parts at different times and they were edited together.

theyre both so good as peter that now whenever i think of abstinence camp and read fics about it, i can only imagine nick, but ofc whenever i think of npmd and read fics about that i can only imagine joey. i like to think their experiences in each timeline were so different and shaped them to be different enough that its easier for me to quite literally picture them as different people

PLEASE do not skip Killer Track. The parts with Duke and Miss Holloway... probably the best bittersweet romance Starkid has ever written.
God, I love Nightmare Time. No two episodes are the same, but they always have something sweet, something gutwrenching, something gory and something funny. And they're all unique. I could watch 15 seasons of Nightmare Time.

You asked about Ted and why he would send Peter to the Abstinence Camp knowing full well The Axe Man was out there? Well here's my theory. I don't think Ted believe in The Axe Man because, at the time he attended Abstinence Camp, The Axe Man didn't exist. As he said to Peter, it was nothing more than a story to scare the campers into not having sex. Do some reverse math. We know that Jerry and Jeri created the Abstinence Camp shortly after they had sex and The Axe Man was born so that would mean that Ted is either the same age as Jerry and Jeri (like within a year or two) or Ted is younger than Jerry and Jeri. Reading between the lines of what Ted says to Peter, one can safely assume that The Axe Man had yet to make his debut at the time Ted attended Abstinence Camp. So that would make Ted pretty close to Jerry and Jeri's age. And if that's true, then The Hatchetfield Axe Man is a story that Jerry and Jeri made up to scare the campers into not having sex. This would also mean The Axe Man was, at that time, The Axe Baby... minus the Axe. In their zeal and fervor to keep their promiscuity hidden and in their misguided attempt to raise their son to be abstinent, Jerry and Jeri, inadvertently caused The Hatchetfield Axe Man to become a reality once the boy came of age, hence Jeri's confession to Grace Chastity, "I only gave him the axe to chop would, not people!" And I think that explains why Ted sent Peter to the Camp. The Hatchetfield Axe Man didn't exist back when he went and he saw right through Jerry and Jeri, realizing it was all made up at the time. And since he had to go to Abstinence Camp when he was a kid, there was no way Peter wasn't going. It's the old Parental Guardian mentality of, "I went through this so you have to go through this too!" I do believe that if Ted knew the Axe Man was real, he would never have sent Peter there.
Now I hear you and others in the comments saying, "But he stopped the car short of the Camp and told Peter to walk out of fear, didn't he?" To that I say, no. No he didn't. He did that to screw with his brother. And there is one piece of concrete evidence that proves that The Axe Man didn't exist back then. Peter finds Ted's Porno Mag in Solitary Confinement. That means Ted put it there when he was put into Solitary Confinement back when he attended Camp. Furthermore, the fact that it was there means not only did he put it there, but he used it before he hid it. If the Axe Man actually existed back then, he never would have gotten away with it. The Axe Man would have killed him. And this brings me to Ted's ultimate motive for sending Peter to Abstinence Camp. While, yes, I do believe what I said above about forcing Peter to go through something he went through, I don't believe that was his Primary Motive. I think that Porno Mag was his Primary Motive. I think he sent Peter to Abstinence Camp because he knew his little brother. He knew Peter would get thrown into Solitary Confinement. And he knew, once inside, Peter would find the Porno Mag. And I think Ted wanted him to find it. I think Ted's ultimate motive was to use Abstinence Camp and the Porno Mag he hid in Solitary Confinement all those years ago as a "coming of age" experience for his little brother. Little did he know that Peter would find the one thing at Abstinence Camp that Ted only found once in his life, completely screwed it up, and has never found it again: Love.

I love your explanation. Girl Jerry even says her son was over six feet when he was 2, and now he is about 8 feet, so he´s what, five years old? He definitely didn´t exist in Ted´s time.

I find it fascinating how Angela and Mariah are utilised. In a way, I'd say they are the first proper on stage/screen dynamic that Starkid have properly establish. They seem to love the contrast between Mariah's cooler, more relaxed demeanour and contrasted it with Angela's warmer, more eccentric tendencies. Because they do this dynamic with them a lot; Grace and Steph, Zoey and Hayley, Willabella and Webby are kind of a more serious version of it in "The Witch in the Web", there's even a more amicable version in "Yellow Jacket" which I won't go into because spoilers.
As someone who find type-casting...interesting (if sad in its limitations) and especially considering Angela's involvement in Starkid started by replacing Mariah, it is kind of wonderful that they have this unique, very watchable dynamic that continues to persist.

My reasoning with Ted is that there was no Axe Man when he was at camp, it was just a regular abstinence camp. He went when he was a teen, and he’s gotta be in like his thirties now (I think in Time Bastard he went back like 10+ years to his college self?). And they said the Axe Man grew at an alarming rate, he could be five years, three years old even. Who knows? Going off vibes only, the Jerrys seem mid-twenties-ish and Girl Jeri said she had the baby as a counselor, so probably eighteen or so. The Axe Man is relatively new then, and if Gabe’s stories are to be believed, around 5 kids have gone missing. That seems to me like he’s only been killing the last year or so. As for why Hatchetfield isn’t suspicious of this, I have many reasons. 1. A lot of people go missing in Hatchetfield. 2. Everyone in this town is wrapped up in their own dramatic stuff. 3. The police force is Sam, there’s no way he gives a shit. So that’s why I think Ted is fine with taking his brother to camp. It’s the older sibling thing where you kinda sympathize with the thing your parents forced on both of you, with a teasing “It’s your turn to suffer now lol” As much of a sleazeball Ted is, I think he genuinely cares about his bro and wouldn’t take him if he thought there’s a murderer on the loose.

I think Ted survived the abstinence camp because of the "scare tactics" they used.
Based on Time Bastard, Ted was very much like Pete, a nerd, the only huge difference from these two is I feel like Pete is willing to sacrifice himself for the ones he love while Ted is always afraid of actually doing things, runaway from the problems.
(which also resulted in him not being able to confess his feelings to Jenny)
So the fact that the first thing Ted mention about Abstinence Camp being "They use scare tactics" feels like those tactics actaully worked for him.
I don't think he believed the Axe Man was 100% real, but to some degree..I think he did since he talked about how he could hear the footsteps and Axe dragging on the ground every night and THIS seemed like it genuinely scared him, if he didn't believe it was real, he wouldn't be scared but since he did..yk
While he was able to sneak in contraband, I think he never actually tried all of those dirty behaviors.

I know I'm a year late, but I'm not sure the axe man was even around back when Ted went to the camp. Assuming he's the same age as his co-workers from TGWDLM, he'd be in his thirties. So it would have been over 10 years ago that he attended the camp.
Even if the axe man was already around, he might not have been as active. Maybe he just scared the kids instead of killing them. That would explain why Ted was traumatized by the axe man but still survived.
