  • I'm having a good time in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (PS5). Starting to wonder if I should've picked this up on PC, as the need to traverse the UI quickly based on the overall complexity of strategic options you are given outside of combat is more than I expected. There is so much more to curating the specific capabilities of your party than "levelling up". Demon Fusion, Essences, and the basic ability +1 per level; consumables to buff your team in battle...I feel like I am just starting to scratch the surface.
All that will be good if the introduction of additional systems is predominantly covered in the first few hours. While the last two years have seen a renaissance and resurgence in turn-based games, both tactical and strategic, a few have been guilty of continuing to intro new systems even into the late-game, which is not a preference of mine.
Here fusing my first demon, marking waypoints on the map, taking down an Abscess, resorting my summons.
This game is well outside my wheelhouse. But it has been absolutely worth my time to fork off my mainstream to pick this up and check it out.
