I just finished downloading all your videos from day 1. and always watching out for more to come to download .....and am so happy because I've learnt a lot from my best teacher in d world ......your so realistic thanks ...lots of love
I had my own repair shop .But I was getting stuck.By dead iPhones or Samsung or laptopsso I was searching on you tube for helpNo luck. Not a learning one.So I am closing the repair shop for now.I just replace parts and was so many thimes frustrated about the parts I can not repair. Then I found you.Now I am ferry motivated to learn from youSo I did shop for the tools I need for repair ic and solder charging ports and moreI want to save more devices and I didThank you ferry much. Nice regards Rene from the Nederlands
Hi, dont give up, Its not reason to get stuck. I will tell you one story .... My friend Jason, two years ago start his own business, he like quick money, he start buying faulty goods like iphones ipods tv's ... He has no electronics knowledge, i was telling him to start learning electronics, i even bought for him electronics components for learning and playing ... he didn't listen, hes saying has no time for that because he need to make money .... One year after the business was shutdown. So try to get your mind out from money making, and invest in yourself, thats the best money to be used
Most of us have closed the shop, but you can learn and experiment easier in your home rather in the shop and a glorious comeback may come soon.Greetings from Greece.Once you have learned television repair especially older ones then you can learn almost everything in electronics.
Thank you for the nice tutorial chief. Its an awesome easy fix, right? There is one thing still I don't understand, how you guess the problems...? When I a saw your video for the first time i was like "he is houdini..." and now like " no.. no.. he is holmes.." 8:18 "who needs schematics, come on...." 😆😆 12:25 The Smile... 😍 13:02 wtf..? how did you just read my mind..? 🤯 Good job chief and get well soon.. God bless you..
Amazing channel! hmmm what about VLED not registering power? Have been following a few of these backlight videos and yet to find my problem. (Will keep looking).
The brightness pin receives a PWM signal that it filters into a smooth voltage from 0 to 3.3V so for 80% you would need the pin to receive around 2.6V, or connect the enable pin through a resistor divider to the brightness pin, about 1k from enable into a 4k to ground will give you 80% brightness.
Sorin, did you check with a known good working screen to test? In my experience some backlight issues are due to the screen board and not laptop motherboard. I recently have had 2 such laptop screens that the backlight has failed, but with a new screen those laptops worked fine. Both cases I ended up buying the laptops from the customer as they didn't want to spend to have a new screen put in or the old ones repaired. In another case I replaced the screen without removing the battery which resulted in me frying a resistor next to LVDS cable (Compaq) and no backlight. So the problem in this video and my 2 laptops seems to be the resistors on the screen board next to test points have failed?
Amazing how you can trouble shoot laptops even without schematics! Most people would get completely lost looking at the board behind the LCD. I know I don't have a clue - luckily it turned out to be a broken flex cable.
Hello Sorin, I am trying to debug the similar issue on one of my laptops, interestingly the screen also looks similar to the one in this video... in my case the situation is reverse, BL_EN is zero, while PWMBL1 is 3.2 volts 😇. I tried shorting them and also tried bridging 3.2 volts from another vcc* test point but it still doesnt light up. I connected another lcd as well and found the same result, no backlight but picture is there .... I am thinking of changing the display cable ... any thoughts?
Sir, I brought a linear power supply MAISHENG MS-305D, but i see/notice you increase the current while charging a battary, but for my DC power Supply, i cannot increase current when charging the battery (is there some i can do to increase current?). THANK YOU
Whats wrong with the laptop, if no backlight, but there is a 3.3 volts on both PWM and BL Enable pins? It's an LP156WH2-TLEA panel and a Lenovo G500 laptop
Help. I have an HP 11x360 that only powers up (and runs fine) with the internal battery disconnected and AC power connected. I get a "no battery detected" message when I reconnect battery while it is running. Tried all the hard restarts and uninstalling acpi battery software with no luck. The battery is a 2 cell 7.2 volt li-ion with only .25 volts of power left. The battery socket on motherboard has three pins with 3.2 volts. I am thinking the battery charging circuit is bad. Thoughts? Thank you.
i heated graphics chip but no change, i have 19 volts on fets. replaced memory and no change, 19 v brick its ok , i cannot find any cmos battery though
If the 19 volts was missing u would not have a image on the screen. The 19 v powers a circuit that drives the LCD panel drivers. SO its the boost converter IC that drives the LEDs.

Did you stay in the business? Hopefully yes.
Very good ...You are super repairman...I trying to watch your all videos at Turkey and wait your new videos...Thank you my Teacher...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Feel better soon. Thanks for the video.
You are simply great, thank you for sharing your experience. Greetings from Spain
U r a great motivator for electronic enthusiastic people.
Hi, hope you get well soon... thanks for this video i'm learning a lot.
Thank you
Multă sănătate !
One word to describe your work is amazing
Nice job, thank you.
Ahhh the sweet sound when we have to say "That's wierd..." :)
Good Job ;)
I like all the videos your post

Good job chief and get well soon..
God bless you..
thank You, got almost similar problem but there was no LED EN signal, got shorted works fine!
Great videos. I love watching them. Do you have any videos on repairing desktop motherboards?
I love you men. Thanks for the knowledge you share. Godbless more.
think you Mr, you are the best & nice work, you help me a many time
Nice video Very informative and it will Save me lots of time in the future. Thumbs up!!
Amazing channel! hmmm what about VLED not registering power? Have been following a few of these backlight videos and yet to find my problem. (Will keep looking).
Thanks Master!!!
Another Great Job!!!!
that's great, thank you ...
THANK YOU SIR!
nice working magic bridge
wondering....could you drop in a resistor to put the screen at say 80% brightness? if so what value would you use? thanks for your videos
Excellent Magic. How did you come to know about test points and voltages supposed to be? Its really amazing
all the led screens are the same, so you should have same voltages. I have few video about backlight, you can check them
What solution did he do there I didn't understand! He just joined those 2 ??? Plz help
You have to rest a lot, I hope you get well soon.
I assume I could add a diode instead of short between the pwr and brightness to drop the 3.3v slightly for less than max brightness. Is that correct?
I don't like the idea if max brightness at all times. This is something that could be fixed some other way.
Magic again!!
If you can not beat it, bridge it. :) Nice video.
hahaa, true

شكرا لك
nice video. but when you short this screen 3.3v can't harm another componant ? and why it's not getting 3.3v , could be another problem ?
What solution did you do there I didn't understand! You just joined those with a glue ??? Plz help
the start up chip controls the brightness for the screen? and fixing it to get back control .is to change the start up chip ?
most likely
I understand because the short can still be there from the chip pin to the screen and will take a long time to detect it
Hi. How can I contact you for advice. Great videos by the way. Loving them.
as always master technician move,,,,,,,
Hope you get rid of that cold quickly, i hate colds.
Naughty boy, short the pwm/bright to 3.3v lol :-D
hi hi hi, you know is no other way
I know :-D, i have a bad habit of overthinking a problem, and getting myself in a mental mess.
Its a bad habit i know.
Hi Sir,
I have an issue with Dell Latitude 7450 which is no powering on. Hard drive & power light is blinking any idea about this.
Amazing how you can trouble shoot laptops even without schematics! Most people would get completely lost looking at the board behind the LCD. I know I don't have a clue - luckily it turned out to be a broken flex cable.
nice.

go back where you post first, i answered already
Get Well Soon. I like ur short cut jobs....u always do in a very easy way....bye
you can add a variable adjustable resistor so that you can adjust brightness as you wish....more work but not that hard.
That's a good idea, however I believe a PWM generator is what you need here (as that's the signal it receives)
Whats wrong with the laptop, if no backlight, but there is a 3.3 volts on both PWM and BL Enable pins?
It's an LP156WH2-TLEA panel and a Lenovo G500 laptop
i have a laptop where only left side is light.half side of screen withoztr light.what can there the problem?
Do you can a video with broken pads bga chipset motherboard
Peace be upon you السلام عليكم
I learned a lot from you
I pray to God to guide your heart to the truth
Hi Can You please help me to fix the " nt156whm-n42 v8.0 display backlight "
nice nice thank

just replace the battery
Thank you. I will try that. I was thinking that the voltage required to charge battery would be closer to 4 or 4.25.
:) useful thing there master
Hi I have a Toshiba laptop that has power light but not booting up can you advice something
ram memory, graphics..
i heated graphics chip but no change, i have 19 volts on fets. replaced memory and no change, 19 v brick its ok , i cannot find any cmos battery though
if is coming on, check ram cpu gpu power supply
ok i checked and found a little mosfet found like a short and a ceramic capacitor short on both sides according to ground now what to do
great, carry on, replace them
man i love you
If the 19 volts was missing u would not have a image on the screen. The 19 v powers a circuit that drives the LCD panel drivers. SO its the boost converter IC that drives the LEDs.
Смотрю твои видео и думаю, русский.? Выздоравливай ;-)
Thank you, close but not :)
Sure the laptop is working as it was. But the the brightness is not changing now. So that's a screen change job in this case.
nice job sir. but not work to me..
super......
I hate the fact that I saw this video now and not a year ago. I already crapped a lot of screen because of the BL dead.
One time i destroyed a laptop motherboard by just unplugging the screen and the 19 volts shorted the board and cable out.
No video for Friday. Hmmmm waiting
i'v been off, too ill , sorry
Sad to listen that you are ill. Get Well soon. My all prays are with you.
I wish Hindus come here and learn to teach in English. Imagine if Mr sorin was teaching in Romanian!
