I'm a former wiccan who came to God in recent years. I loved the natural aspect of it, but the idea of "working with" multiple deities felt really abstract and impersonal. It was the deep desire to connect with nature that kept me going. I have always had a strong fascination and adoration for nature, there is something so beautiful, divine and primordial that seems so perfectly woven into our natural reality. I practised Wicca on and off for 13 years, until I picked up a bible 3 years ago and started reading. I slowly came to love God, but also felt really guilty for still clinging to my druidic philosophies because I was taught by myself, by pagans and by christian that the two were mutually exclusive. Other christians also tend to hold strong opinions on spiritual paths that diverge from mainstream/traditional Christianity and will not hesitate with lectures of hellfire and alientation from god. But my faith simply cannot survive without the pillars of druidic philosophy. It crumbles against the winds of doubt without it. The druidic-christian path is a lonely one, but in my heart there is no other way. What I love about druidry is that whenever I peer out into the natural world, I see the Lord looking back at me, whispering words of joy and comfort on the wind, expressing His glory and mystery through starry skies, mountains and oceans under a cool moonlit night, or warm summer day. I cry in the forest and the Lord rains His tears on me in utter empathy. I smile at the sun and His smile shines back at me from above. I read somewhere that God gave us two books to read; the Bible and the World, they compliment and complete one another - and I could not agree more.

Your path is your own. No one should tell you "this is right" and "this is wrong" - it's all what you feel and what your intuition tells you is right. There are Druid-Christians, just as there are Wiccan-Druids.

You, sir, may be just about the coolest priest I've ever seen. Your philosophy is spot-on. So often I feel modern Christianity is about dividing people into the cliques of various denominations and then, like you said, guilt-tripping anyone who disagrees. As someone who was raised Christian, that isn't the faith I was taught to follow. I believe in respecting nature, and that there is divinity all around us, in all life, so the philosophies of druidry are quite appealing to me. Anyway, great video, thanks for sharing.

In my opinion. It seems he sees the old testament as stories containing a goldmine of wisdom. As guides for how to live as both an individual and a civilization.
While many of the various groups of Christianity i feel see the books in the bible as a list of laws. A list of laws tediously told through stories. Growing up in 2 churches, they both gave me this subconcious mindset as a young child(5-9years) that the purpose in reading the bible was to learn how not to get banished to hell for eternity. It was to learn how to reach heaven and not get banished to hell.
When you see the books as a guide it's spiritual and you're free. You can still think for yourself.
When a person(community) views the bible as a list of laws its like a person is willfully walking into a prison. One where they serve for life and their behavior determines wether they go to heaven or hell when they die. In this place. The wardens words and his edited version of the bible are the only things you know. You became his tool. And will do anything be says proudly. Even if it has nothing to do with bible or Jesus Christ himself. In fact it may contractdict him. And you'll live a life inevitably setup for eternal banishment as you arrogantly believe you're 100% set up for for a place in heaven.

I love the priest's perspective. I'm more atheistic in my approach, but otherwise loved everything he said. There is great beauty in the pagan religions even if I don't buy into Thor or Lugh. I love the modern religions that are springs my up such as Pastafarianism, Dudeism, and a few others which Are more focused on this life rather than about fear of eternal punishment or striving for eternal reward. No need to go to war over differing doctrines or slam gay people or anyone else. Our "reward" is the that we're here living, eating, and falling in love today. We're in the here and now and should enjoy it and be kind as much as possible. Sorry for the sermon, Father!

How can you be an atheist yet be a Druid? That's like saying you don't believe in food but you eat... It doesn't make any sense. Druids believe in some sort of spiritual energy... "God" if you want to call it...

When I got a divorce, I could believe how painful it felt in my religious spirit. I wasn't married in the Church, so how come I felt this way.? I believe I was married in my heart and spirit. I am glad you mentioned the Guilt trip because that is what I think the pain was. Druidism helped me very much and like you I believe it is a Philosophy and not a religion. My bond with God, nature and people.

[5]And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

As an ordained priest in the Church of the Latter day Dude, I get the vibe the Dude in strong in you. If Dudeism actually taught anything, there's a lower than average chance it would teach us.... the only meaning of life we can prove is that... Life, it's natures way of stopping meat from spoiling. So relax, everything's a joke, just some things are funnier than others. May the Dude be with you.

Obviously, this man is a goodhearted soul who knows that religions have produced some very ugly results because they have emphasized obedience to authority above all. Questioning the legitimacy of all arbitrary authorities wherever they appear is essential. Follow your heart, which you know is good and is seeking connection and love for all--which deep down is what we all seek.

I can worship god as a christian but also the world and nature as a christian. That is my goal to become a functioning druidic christian. I dont know about joinging a group or brotherhood however something feels right about nature to me. And i plan to learn more. Thanks 😆

I'm with you! I'm Roman Catholic but on the verge of joining the Ancient Order of Druids in America as a student. Given that our world is in ecological peril, I am sad that the christian churches have not recognized the priesthood for nature that God gave Adam and Eve. They named the animals, tended the Garden, and when they sinned, they ground was cursed thereby. I see nothing in Scripture that indicates this priesthood over Creation has been withdrawn. I've never successfully founded anything, but I will be content to study and practice druidism as a Christian.

For the mystic, it is understood that the divine essence or principle is intrinsic to all creation. Therefore we can begin to see the first theorem that is common among the Druids, Celtic Christians and Franciscan Spirituality. I think all would agree that to seek the divine we must go within one's self, and look deep into nature to find that that truth rather than to expect that it only comes from some extrinsic source, yet does not deny the grace of God.

What's fascinating is that Druidism evolved into Celtic Christianity, without rancor or violence, so there had to have common truths as we can see reflected in the early monastic movements particularly that oft Colum Cille and the Culdee Christian monastics.

I know youre a big fan of christianity, but plss dont connect druidism to it. You just cant, theyre totally a different path , christianity has a set of principles while druidism well, youve gotta find your own. Christianity blinds you, it blocks your sight. Christianity is more of a religion than a way of life, it has a principles that clings to a certain belief, and also i hate the bible because of so many errors while christians cherry pick the good lines from it and does not admit the darker barbaric side, thus treating it as a holy book shit.
Druidism, daoism has it like this "Wisdom does not come from above down, it comes from below up".

    • @brjamesaidan
      @brjamesaidan 7 лет назад +3

I can understand that a certain understanding of Christianity as only a religion, because the institutional church interpreted in a way to allow it to have power and control over peoples lives. As a Celtic-Franciscan, and Franciscans as a general rule, do not see Christianity as a religion but a "way" that what Jesus called it. Unfortunately the majority of the main line and other denominations see it as a religion, which results in the misunderstanding you have. The "way" reads scriptures symbolically metaphorically, allegorically some times historically, but not "literally. It leads us to a place of unitative consciousness which unbinds, unblocks and opens your mystical sight. I would encourage you to explore on your own rather than accept what you hear or even see. The ultimate goal of any spiritual path, Druidism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Islam at the advanced levels is to reunite its adherents to the Divine within. Suggested authors to clarify the concepts I am addressing, Tolle, Richard Rohr, Iolo Morganwg and other historical sources (especially English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish) will clarify my thesis.

This comment genuinely saddens me. Patrick diluted, twisted and manipulated the old religion purposely to convert the masses. Appropriating Christianity & the old religion into a sickening hybrid thus destroying the true value of either. When this had run it's course and the population of Ireland dumbed down he sought to discredit the "druids" and manipulated the Royal seat and leaders to follow his way. Much of the reason we have such limited knowledge of the old religion isn't just a consequence of an oral tradition but intentional tarnishing & suppressing. Relics, sites and undoubtedly written accounts were purposely and maliciously destroyed.... Heck, it's still happening to this day.

Without meaning to be controversial, there are many similarities between all religions. Jesus himself bares many similarities to the older Dionysus for example.
I think most religions have a similar message but we are divided when they are documented into text and people become incredibly defined by semantics.

Ben Antell I don't think you know anything about Druids or Christians.
Druids have always been about the search for understanding through the Creator. We see the Creator in each other, and creation in all living things.
      This is the Holy Spirit!

In the 17th chapter of Saint Luke it is written: The Kingdom of God is with-in man, not one man, nor a group of men, but all men. Don’t give yourself to brutes, men that despise you, men that enslave you, use you as cannon fire. Awaken to whom you truly are.

Ummm He has never read a bible as it teaches we can only serve one master and not allowed to practice any magic. Druids are all about different levels of magic under different names. Research Druid magic it is not Christian and bible clearly warns of other practices. It will robe us of our promised salvation by simply believing, repenting and having a relationship with Jesus Christ who is our Only mediator who suffered and died for our sins. Please research everything this is very dangerous. Even sattan can transform himself into an angel of light. Jesus said his yoke is light, we need not jump through hoops for salvation.

@ben antell Druidism really is a philosophy added on to the current Christian beliefs it isn’t a religion as there is no force or god that has to lead them it’s the idea of not worrying about going to hell and just focusing on living life heck atheists Christians pagans a lot of people are a part of Druidism it’s a lifestyle and philosophy it’s like I said just enjoying time on earth while you wait for the next life and it’s basically having patience whilst you wait for gods angels to take you to the pearly gates instead of worrying about being perfect

I grew up in the church. My biggest problem with the faith is no one is on the same page. Countless sects, doctrines, and denominations. As far as druidism goes, I highly doubt whatever is being practiced today is remotely accurate to what it was in ancient times. Mostly because the Romans destroyed it.

  • @HighShepherdLopes

The fatal flaw, thow shall worship no other God before me. He also talks about the "guilt tripping". The holy spirit acts as a compelling voice towards recognizing your faults and rectifying them with Jesus at your side, he helps you realize your sins, which is best defined as the void between man and God, and bring yourself closer to Him. No one is perfect, but the Bible depicts the life of. Christian to truely be a narrow path where every day is a battle and the day you aren't fighting is the day you fall to temptation. I know it sounds like a life of self torture, but in reality it is the fight to reject the corruption that is so deeply rooted in being human in order to connect ones self with the Master of All Creation, the center of the universe. To combine druidry with Christianity is not only dangerous as you risk putting your faith in the creation instead of the creator, but it's also wrong because you are attempting to widen your path , which leads to self deception and suffering, rather than taking the narrow path, which is the path of Jesus and the path towards the Vital quintessence of the universe.

Wow, ppl have become narrow minded and judgemental without understanding the FULL history of what really happened to our ancient ancestors. It takes Much more research than just believing what one hears from one or two sources and believe it when said modern day History has most if it wrong. We are much deeper beings than just humans of flesh and blood. There is many more layers to our universe than most are willing to understand. Most are afraid and shun what they don't understand but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. This doesn't give ANY the right to judge or attack others. PEACE AND BE BLESSED

I dont know who needs to hear this, but though he wears a roman catholic collar his views do not align with those of the catholic church. Catholicism is not a religion of condemnation. Though it includes the acknowledgement of mans tendency towards evil action which is plainly observable in everyday life, it emphasizes eternal supernatural mercy and a life journeying towards the one making this call, namely God. Jesus is not just a human teacher, he is both man and God. A man cant make you anything more than a man, It takes divinity to draw you into divine life.

It’s perfectly ok to love and respect other cultures and religions. In fact it helps us grow. To reconnect with brothers and sisters is a beautiful thing. Science even says all life is connected. Quit bashing each other with words and ideologies and actually love each other. Who is benefitting from all this fighting? I don’t believe evil is the only thing at work here. I think greed has manifested itself on this planet.

About the guilt trip thing... sadly a lot of people have misunderstood the Bible on that point. One of my favorite preachers is Joseph Prince and he explains how the Bible is really about no condemnation and how Jesus was punished for our sins. Anyway, you seem to be a really cool guy and I’m sure God is proud to have a son like you! :)
