I was replacing a 'lobed out' cam in a Cadillac 4.1L and forgot to install the timing gear set. Yep. Those engines have a trapped front cover. Meaning it's trapped at the top by the overhang of the intake and at the bottom by the oil pan. Like a Toyota 22RE. I got done torquing the intake and went to lunch. When I returned I grabbed the package of valve cover gaskets . . . and hiding underneath them was the timing set. yep. Fortunately the RTV hadn't quite set-up yet but, . . . yeah. It happens to the best of us. anyways, Can't wait for Start day. Carry on.
Did you clay the head to the block? An aggressive cam with custom rockets is pretty ballsy, IMHO. But I'm still learning this stuff, admittedly, and so would never trust my own numbers, lol. Good catch on that timing!! You would've chased your tail probably if installed, lol.
Nice video! I appreciate your honesty about making a mistake, #hit happens when working on motors.
Thanks 👍
Damn that sucks you have to re- time the engine.Glad you caught it now than later...
Minor setback, but I will get it squared away.

It got worse...follow up video will discuss cam bolt torque discrepancies between various sources

This build is a well used recipe in Jeep Stroker circles, no issues with valve to piston clearance
