I had a 94 2wd w/5 speed and I could give college kids fits in their little BMW's stoplight to stoplight. I've owned 4, totaled one and it saved my life, they are built very strong and the 4.0 6 cylinder is a beast.
A Jeep that doesn't leak something 😂 now thats a custom job 👍 You went above and beyond for this XJ with all the cleaning and painting ect... Most shops won't swap your engine with love . Now this rig can get back to life once again!!
Hi Dan 👋 👋 👋 👋 just wanted to let you know that the Freeze plugs on the back of your engine needs to be replaced. I see Rust. Hopefully it will work for you.. Anyway don't forget about buying Brass freeze plugs I bought my freeze plugs at Napa auto.
@@ProjectDanH thanks for the reply! just finished my first swap today I did that method but I had to slide a drill bit through the middle so it wouldn’t flatten the pin
I have a 00 jeep XJ and bought a 99 XJ with good motor I’m gonna keep my coil pack not distributor how do I make the coil pack stay on the motor because the bolts aren’t there to mount it ??? Thanks love your videos
The engine was installed previously in a manual and he set it up for an automatic. Gotta remove the pilot bearing or the transmission won't mate. Ask me how I know. 😂
@@ProjectDanH it’s a minor but important detail to look out for. Or replacing/adding the pilot bearing if your Jeep is a manual and going the other way. Throw out bearing is also a good replacement if your in there and it’s a manual.
I used the Dorman dipstick in my 04 4.0 now 6 quarts read 1/2 quart overfull. Did you replace rear main seal? Just curious. put used 4.0 that had no signs of leaks in cousins Wrangler, started leaking 2 weeks after install. BTW, excellent job, my friend.
Hello Dan great series. Have a question on a ZJ 1995 Grand Cherokee. My Digital Heater/AC control blows cold air BUT if I move the temp dial just 1 degree it blows hot air for days. So if set to 55 degrees and move to 56 or set to 70 and move to 71 air blows heat instantly for days. I don't touch the 55 (blowing heat) then in a few days it blows 55 again. AC will blow 55 as long as I do not touch the temp dial. If I adjust the Temp just 1 degree boom HOT air and wont go back to 55, 60, 71 or whatever for days. Have you any solution or things to check?
Hello Dan..I didn't know how to get a hold of you I been watching your videos since I found you ..enywho..I had an accident ran into a gas pump pylon..it smashed in my front passenger side it looks ugly..I have a 2010 jeep grand cheerokee limited hemi..I'm trying to figure out how to pull it off and if I should pound it out or just buy a new one..if you could message me back and we can chat help me out a lil bit since your a great mechanic on jeeps..I've watched alot of different people ..but bro you out smart em..let me know..have a great jeep kinda day!..thanks
Hey, Thanks for watching!!! So sorry about the accident. Depending on the severity of the damage and If it still runs and drives you could start to accumulate the obvious parts first. If you can pull your own new parts yourself you can learn how to do the job yourself. When you have the parts and some confidence dig in!

Do you ha😮ve a spare oil dipstick tube you want to get rid of its a 2001 cherokee 4.0 please respond
Sorry no but they should be on eBay or any parts store
Dan how did u remove the dowels from the old engine? Struggling right now
Vice grips on the dowel, twist em while tapping the vice grips with a hammer... also I'm strong AF.. lol

Is it possible to put it in crooked? None of the bolts index. It's slots and oversized holes all the way back to the transmission crossmember...
good job.... saludos desde mexico
Thank you brother!
Did you replace that hose that goes from the intake tube to the canister on the passenger side. If so do you happen to have a part number for that?
Vacuum lines?? nah sorry no part numbers. Try a junk yard!
Nice job Brother...💪👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
How did you torque the engine back to the transmission? Did you use crows feet wrench heads and a torque wrench or just wing it?
didn't have any Crows feet.. I used a 15mm gear wrench,. Couldn't get a torque wrench on so I used locktite and cranked it down

Check out K Suspension and the viper coil pack mod. Seems perfect for this scenario.
