  • This music is part of the event that takes place near the end of Disc 3 and in my opinion, the most epic part in any Final Fantasy game. No questions asked.
True that the song by itself does no justice without actually experiencing it yourself while playing, but it still is great naturally.
Nobuo Uematsu is a genious and anyone out there that doesn't think so can kiss my ass.
Oh, and I extended it. I know it's a horrible loop but... Oh well.

He helped Garnet on her new journey and afterwards encouraged her to be a queen, he encouraged Freya after losing her home and eternal love, he encouraged Vivi and gave him a meaning in life, he changed Amarant's aspect of life also, he babysitted Steiner, he was an idol for Eiko, he kept up with Quina..now it was his time to need help

It's the Epitome of the whole essence of what Final Fantasy used to be. The Scene that goes along with it, the story that plays out with it, EVEN OVERRIDING THE STANDARD BATTLE THEME!!!

To the princess: he is a champion who gave her wings and helped her grow into the woman and queen she needed to be.
To the lost puppet boy: he is a brother, teaching him a love for life through friendship.
To the heartbroken dame-warrior: he is a drinking buddy and a shoulder to cry on, consoling her and giving her hope of a second chance at love and life.
To the stubborn knight: he is the foil who shows him how good and evil cuts through the hearts of all men.
To the cook: he is a teacher, opening their eyes to all the wonderful other things in the world besides food.
To the orphan girl: he is a father who gives her a family and a new home through his friends.
To the lone assassin: he is a rival to whom he shows there is still kindness in a cold and dangerous world.
He gave each of them the thing they needed to bring them back when their own spirits were about to fail.
And so, in his own darkest hour, when he is forlorn with learning the truth of what he is, they come to him and remind him that his actions for them define him, not what his creator made him for.
And so even in the face of death, the brutality of the power-mad, and the horrors of war, they close together, forming ranks around their friend. For they each know in their hearts thanks to this bond they share with him, come what may, even the end of all things, they have something special with him that can be expressed with these simple words: They are not alone.

"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what one does with the gift of life that truly matters."
Mewtwo and Zidane are similar in a lot of ways. That all-important lesson is one that must be understood through others
It's something I'm still working on, too--as someone who has survived a lifetime of extreme trauma, whose development was drastically and irreversibly affected, and who was forced to recreate their own identity and individuality. I lost who I was and would've been--and in a sense, that is death. My lessons and insights didn't come from friends, family, or human connections, because I never truly got to experience those. Instead, they came from Nature, the surrounding world, and everyone who shares it with me, human or not. But I'm still here all the same. Whatever anyone else thinks about my own journey (because many do seem to think it's impossible, sadly), I've learned that simply existing is enough. It is proof that one is meant to be here, alive and breathing; those who yet live can forge their own paths, when all others are barred.
...But perhaps the most important lesson is to not lose sight of everyone around you--and that sometimes, the most profound support comes from the most unexpected of places.
Ours is a world in which all things are connected. We all impact and are impacted by one another, both within and beyond the scope of humanity, so nobody can ever truly be alone. As there is far more to this world than humans and their civilization, many of the solutions we as a species need now, amid current events, will be found in that great "unknown." These answers, we must find together--not as individual nations, cultures, or "peoples," but as a collective whole.
Things are dire, but we haven't lost yet, because no matter what anyone thinks, we're not alone. We just need to open our eyes to the real world.

This tune means a lot to me. My brother and I have both been through some harrowing times in the past and present. We've both had each other's backs through thick and thin. He was there when I lost my best friend back in 2013 and my job the following year. I was there for him, his wife and his infant son when he had a nervous breakdown in October 2014. Only death could separate the two of us, and even then it'd only be a Pyrrhic Victory at best.

"Chivalry requires a knight to look after his comrades-in-arms. I will not abandon you! And I shall follow you to kingdom come if I must. You remember that!"
    Steiner to Zidane in Pandemonium.
Steiner had an amazing character progression. He started off as a stiff knight who wanted Zidane executed for his actions early in the game. In the end, not only does he perceive Zidane as his equal and friend but also as a fellow comrade-in-arms he would be willing to GIVE HIS LIFE for.
FF9 had other great characters with great stories but there was something truly powerful about this moment.

It wasn't like hyped up beforehand, I had no idea going in that this scene would take place or this epic song would play. It was just so exhilarating watching the way they directed that whole sequence, and the fact this song just plays consistently through the full 20+ minutes of gameplay, *chef's kiss*. This very scene in which this music plays, how the scene and the music go along side by side....the song starts out with only a metrum and an organ, lonely, brooding, but a while in, another instrument sets in, joined by yet another and another and another one.....same with the group, Zidane starts out alone, bereft of hope, brooding.....but then one friend after another shows up, encouraging him in the same way he has encouraged them all.....joing side by side, so the music and the group reach there uttermost effect when they all join together and unite their power, reassuring towards each other:
    "You are NOT Alone!"

  • @seanobrien276
    @seanobrien276 7 месяцев назад +4

Seeing some comments from people who find very personal meaning in this theme. I can relate as well, as someone born into extreme trauma and that being my norm for the first 25 years of my life. Only difference is, things like trust, family, friendship, and human connections in general were never part of my development--which means I had no mentors, heroes, teachers, or any such figures in my life, really; the small handful of people who actually did try to reach me were unable to because of how I was affected by trauma. Psychiatric malpractice and being a guinea pig for these...professionals...is part of that; for 20 years starting when I was 5 years old, I was little more than a drugged-up zombie. And it's just a little hard to reach or teach a zombie.
So this theme is meaningful to me, but for somewhat different reasons from the other people I've seen.
Unfortunately, developmental trauma like mine doesn't go away--ever. I carry many grievous wounds that will never heal no matter how much time passes, and I'll probably never be able to connect with others normally. This I've had to come to terms with, and I've been working on that for the past 10 years--ever since I was able to finally start...idk, living. And I will continue to work through this no matter how many people try to act like what happened to me is impossible--believe me, I've already had to deal with that sort of invalidation, and I already know I'll have to keep dealing with it for the rest of my life. Humans as a species still have a lot of work to do in regard to just respecting differences and life in general...and yet, to say there's no hope for me isn't truthful. I'm at least _aware_ that there are genuinely good people in the world--the sorts who'd give their all to try and reach me, in spite of my own developmental circumstances, for no other reason than to just do a bit of good. There's no call to disrespect those people, or their inner strength. Beyond that, there is far more to this world than humans and their civilization. Even if I'm never able to truly connect with humans, I've never had this issue with animals, or planets, or even the planet itself. Ours is a world where all things, human and not, are connected; we all impact and affect one other, often through our very presence alone. I wonder how much better humans would be as a species if they could just...y'know, connect with and learn from the world around them, and everyone who shares it with them. Maybe that would help humanity to finally embrace the value of life, and help end the cycle of trauma, corruption, oppression, abuse, stigma, and all the things that ultimately lead to the kind of suffering I've endured. Most people wouldn't come out of it like I have.
Call it a survivor's duty, but I've pretty driven to try and create what's basically a new paradigm of human existence--to be a high example for others to follow, as someone who can never truly integrate into any existing society. And I plan to do this by creating my own space and building bridges with everyone else from there.
Might go a long way to showing everyone what it means to not be alone. We are all stronger when we live, work, and walk together, after all.

Back in 2002 I had just finished playing this game and had the tune stuck in my head for days. My Lit teacher told us we had to write a poem about Beowulf. I had too much fun matching it to this song, and even after 20 years I still remember the whole thing because it's just so catchy! Here's a little just for anyone curious:
Grendel, curse of night, who can stand against your might?
Who will even dare? Who will save us from this beast?
Strong men die in vain. Wielding swords they all are slain.
Heorot's Hall a ruin in the wake of Grendel's feast.

Even if that's the case, you're doing yourself a disservice by not playing 9. Might not be 7 but 9 is probably one of the best entries in the franchise period, if not outright the best one, according to many, myself included. 9 was a celebration of what made the franchise great.

@@neh1234bro wut.. I’ve heard FFV was up there with Legendary status Also VI
But VII was the first to have full 3D etc.
I also watch my bro play IX anyway and it was neat but I still never seen the full game,
But now you’re saying 9 is the number 1 ? I don’t think so as it’s not so well known culturally and they haven’t made a Full movie out of it or Remakes etc.
7 literally had A Movie and a Prequel and other spinoffs ?
      But I appreciate your perspective

@@mrandrossguy9871 9 is one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. It's always up there in the popularity poll, usually trailing behind 7 or 10. The problem with 9 is that it came out the year before the PS2 was released. While other entries in the franchise had more time in the spotlight, 9's time got taken by 10, which came barely a year later and was voiced, which was a huge thing back in the day.
The thing with 7 is that it's simply more marketable. They capitalized big time on the 3D thing, and the player influx it brought, and left enough things open to keep milking the entry as a franchise. They tried to do the same with 13 and 15 but failed. As I said before, 9 is a celebration of old style FF. It hit harder with those who were there in the NES/SNES era.

Here are some lyrics I've written for this song. I'll be adding in some new lines/editing some of the older ones:
"Once again, I stand. Stripped bare in foreign land. I don't know which where is 'up', or where I went wrong. So come, sing along. My heartless, yet heartfelt song! If you're not of 'us', then you do not belong!
Once again, I stand. I've finally found my homeland. I should be happy. Oh! What's the matter with me!? An empty vessel. Bereft of body, mind, and soul! I need none at all! As I am all alone!
But what is this noise? These voices sound familiar? Could they be crying for me? Forgotten and repressed! Memories I did possess at one time. Once, when I was not alone.
They call me to their side, but will my broken heart abide? I can't take this anymore! That wit, that charm, that voice! All of which I did adore! Once, when I was not alone!
I have to go now. To where all of my friends are. They won't get very far. Not without me leading the charge...
No way! Come on now! Where did you guys get off to!? Where and how, and why!? Why must I be all alone?
I can't understand. The comprehension of that man. Garland fancies himself 'God', but he's no more than a fraud!
We're individuals! We need not seek his approval! We are not alone! Yes! Hear our hellion roar!
I will not stand by, or watch on as children cry! My blood burns hotter than the fire in my eyes! Today's the day for sure! My friends are with me, once more! Because naturally, we'll ne'er be alone!
You guys have to resist and repress your hopelessness! I know we're asking a lot! But stand here by my side! And I promise you shall be just fine. Because, you will not be alone!
Betrayed and cast away. Come hither, my siblings. You can stay, right here at my side..."

Brentalfloss makes a living off of doing the exact same thing I did just there. I'm simply expressing myself.
Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll grow up, eventually... well, you'll grow older, anyway. Doesn't matter. Invest those years in something that means a lot to you.
For me? I love lyricism, and music... and writing. Am I great at it? No. Never. But I'm also self-aware enough to understand that.
So, you should be happy I didn't make that entire song a political diatribe against 'orange man', like Brental most likely would have.
