Ah....uploading time again! ^0^ This song has been the MOST REQUESTED of any song I've ever done! If I said that I've had over 400 requests for it, I would not be exaggerating! ^0^
This was and wasn't a quickie....The arrangement has been done for a long time, but the lyrics weren't done till just recently.

The arrangement was entirely acoustic and done rather quickly on one weekend!! I brought out the plethora of drums as per usual, along with guitar, and recorder! I didn't bring in the harp and violin this time, as I'm saving that sort of sound for the collab version ^_^ I wanted it to be a little raucous! ^0^

Just discovered this. Literally brought tears to my eyes. The ‘Not Alone’ segment of FFIX is one of the most affecting and beautiful moments in a game that can only be called art. This version encompasses everything the song was about.
10 years later, still the most beautiful rendition of this soundtrack. Clever and skillful writing, perfect instrument choice and performance.

Square Enix already ruined it, copyright, will never happen.
I don't get the issue, its a 23 year old game, which they'll never do anything with. You'd think they'd be happy someone liked it enough to remake it themselves.
They did the same thing to a Chrono Trigger Remake a few years ago. Chrono Trigger Resurrection, I think was the name, even had a demo.
The problem is a remake would have voice acting covering up the singing

15 years later and this music still is on my heart and soul. Cant thank you enough for this
I'll never forget this song and the moment in FFIX that it accompanied. It was such an incredible moment, both heartbreaking and beautiful to see Zidane try to forsake his friends and handle the burden himself. But after everything he's done for them, they'd never let that happen. It was wild to see one of the most positive main characters in the entire Final Fantasy universe take a turn and really hit rock bottom, only to have his friends save him.
I listened to this for the first time on my birthday on September 2008.. after my first break up and it reminded me the memories and lessons I learned from FFIX. I always end up coming back here in my moments of down to remind myself of the fights I fought and how I never gave up. Thank you Erutan.
Considering it's the first song/cover of Erutan's that I ever listened to, this has a special place in my heart.

This cover is still stunning, and those lyrics are beyond perfect. I've seen a lot of people try to lyricize the track, and each time it feels like they miss the full point of the scene, or somehow try to make it from Zidane's POV.

Great song. I used to listen to this song back in 2012 when I was in college. For years I've been looking for it and today I found it. Thank you to the musician, this is a wonderful song. I used to imagine the music video was shot in an African village with drums played by the community drum band. And the screnary with water falls and birds... Lol! But now I can watch the actual video, not too bad though!

Wow. Listened to this a LOT of times and never noticed this. It does fit very well on a per-character basis. Reminds me a bit of the quotes/screenshots of each character that plays when you leave the game on the New Game/Load screen. But at the same time - could see it being totally accident.

She does put a ton of thought into the lyrics. I remember she said once she won’t cover a song until she’s absolutely certain the lyrics do justice to the music, the story and the characters. So, it’s very possible!

My mother died recently losing the battle with Cancer. Sadly before I could share this song with her. However I had it played today at her funeral and it went over spectacularly. So thank you from the very bottom of my heart for writing these perfect lyrics.

FFXIV making this gorgeous work relevant again.
One year, my parents sent me to Portugal to be with my Grandpa but I was way too young to be an actual care taker and ended up feeling very alone with no transport in another country I could only kinda navigate. I brought my PS1 and this game, plugged it into a European TV and with a power transformer, jet-lagged and stuck for two months, I played this game in black and white feeling totally alone with the exception of my Grandpa. Soon after, I discovered this song and have never forgotten it. Recently I replayed FFIX with the love of my life and here I am, back for more.
This game, this song, these lyrics, have all changed my life multiple times now.

This was the first Erutan video that I listened 8 years ago and it really made me love music. I did think that the lyric was beautiful, but now... now it really strikes my heart. Life really makes you feel hopelessly lost and dark especially when you are trying to get into music industry, yet this music is helping me even after 8 years.
