- Update: A driver was in custody following a dangerous pursuit that made its way through the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys at high speeds on May 19. Sky5 was overhead.

The truth of high-speed chases is a 3,500 to 5,000 missile is careening down the streets with someone behind the wheel with serious emotional and maybe even psychological issues. There's a lot of criticism about police doing these pursuits, but what would the response be if they just let these people go without consequences. I feel for the innocent victims. Saw one yesterday about a female cop who was shot through the passenger window when she came around the back of a pickup to do a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation. Her wounds weren't life-threatening, but she pursued this nutcase until help came. Now he's in the clink for attempted murder of a cop.
@@frelnc yes high speed chases are very dangerous. They never get away and putting innocent people in harms way for basically no reason.
@@ernestwilson35 - One of these copter crews commented that 15-18% of the people do elude police. If there were heftier penalties, it would be a deterrence. Does the L.A. district attorney prosecute this? Or is it part of his social justice plan to ignore police chase suspects?

He believes they complete their treatment out of jail. Well, he wouldn't need rehabilitation if he never stole vehicles or committed other crimes along the way. So does anyone think they will complete their treatment out of jail? LoL. So many naïve people don't realize that by doing that, they increase their chances of being a victim of these useless, worthless criminals. They don't care about anyone, not even themselves. Why would they complete their treatments? They just see this as a second chance to commit more crimes but not get caught. I know because I deal with them. & I run into the same criminals, time and time again.
Then they wonder why officer involved shootings happen more often. We deal with the same morons. It is a matter of time before that becomes a result. All because Gascon says they should not be in jail.
We need more jails. Plain and simple.

The guy in a white pickup truck driving for hours around LA was one of my favorite pursuit after Dodge Challenger.
Watch these instead of sports, more interesting and no politics.

when ever there is a car pursuit do they send messages to residents or something keep them updated because thats crazy
Alerts from news media if your signed up for them and then all local tv channels will interrupt with whatever is on and go live with breaking news and will show the pursuit. That’s how you get all these people on the streets and roads etc taking pictures and video and cheering the suspect on. Some reason these California pursuits are a big time major event.
I think the people of LA. or California in general would much rather pay for someone to get a new car over losing innocent lives and the potential of many vehicle accidents along the way of a chase.

Didn't look like 122 mph unless the cars he was passing were doing 100-110 mph. He was not flying by them like a flash. I think the helicopter radar thing needs to be recalibrated.

The 1 thing that bothers me is if this ends badly the cops will be to blame. I dont agree with the tactics the cops take sometimes but if an innocent bystander gets hurt or god forbid killed because of the idiot running almost gets no blame for it. They take far to long to decide to take him out. The cop he almost ran over knows who's in the car. If no children are involved I say they need to be far more aggressive in taking him out.

@Lesley Hughes Yes we are referring to an left hand turn at an intersection the bad guy was making with some other traffic. He was going too fast for the turn & almost hit the car on the right of him. Copter guy said he almost hit that range rover but it was really a G wagon. I read other comments further down where others said it too after I made my comment.
